Chapter 950: 300 Immortals
Mennena’s words had obviously stunned Kent.
"But what other choice do you have? The Unbound will wither here, fighting for scraps in a realm that was never yours. Or you can take a risk—and seize your destiny."
It was truly enticing... However, the risk was simply too big... He had to properly assess the situation and know what this mysterious being had.
Kent clenched his fists.
He knew she was right. The Unbound’s time in the Expanse was a slow death sentence. If there was even a chance to return, he had to take it.
In his estimate, if their researchers continued their study, they should be able to find a clue to open a safe path back to the realm. After all, they already know about the coordinates of their home. Perhaps in just 50 or more years, they’d be able to escape from here.
However, he also knew about the plans of the other factions to deal with the Unbound Faction. He couldn’t sit still knowing about that.
"Fine," he said at last. "We have a deal. But if you betray us, I’ll ensure you regret it."
Mennena’s laughter echoed through the room as she already expected this answer.
"Oh, Kent Draven... betrayal is the least of your concerns. The real question is—what will you do when you finally return to your realm? Will you rebuild... or will you burn it all down?"
"I will make that place only for Chaos Arts Practitioners!" Kent replied without hesitation.
After coming here, they didn’t become weaker. As a matter of fact, they mastered their Chaos Arts even more.
At this time, including him, there were about 300 Immortals in their Faction while the others were Half-Immortals.
He believed that even if their faction here wasn’t that strong, they would be able to dominate their original world!
"Hahaha! I like that! I hope you can achieve that... I’ll come back later to bring something. Just be prepared!"
With that, she vanished, leaving Kent alone in his room.

Over the next few days, The Unbound prepared for their next attempt to breach the barriers between realms.
Apparently, Mennena had provided Kent with a set of Ancient Runes...
They planned to borrow the power of Rune Arts to return!
She had instructed him to inscribe them in a specific pattern, one that would amplify the Chaos energy of the Practitioners and create a temporary rift.
It was completely different from their previous process as they would rely on Spatial Energy instead. The only similarity was the requirement of knowing the coordinates of the realm they wanted to enter.
It was a delicate process, requiring a huge amount of energy to break the seal blocking them from returning and the energy required to maintain the rift.
One misstep could result in catastrophic feedback, unleashing a wave of uncontrolled Chaos that would consume them all.
"This is too dangerous but..." Kent muttered as he also realized that the success rate was ten times higher than their previous plan.
As Kent worked alongside his fellow Practitioners, he couldn’t shake the feeling that Mennena was watching.
He would catch glimpses of her out of the corner of his eye, but when he turned, she was never there. It was as if she were testing him, probing his resolve to use the method she had prepared for them.
In any case, in a chamber where only the leaders of the Unbound could access, a group of people gathered.
They were the six leaders of The Unbound sitting around a circle table.
At the head of the table was Kent Draven. He was also considered the strongest among them.
The other five leaders, on the other hand, were managing various groups within the Unbound Faction.
There was Eryn on his right, who served as the faction’s strategist.
To Kent’s left was Arin, one of the generals of their faction defending their main fortress.
Across from her was Gyn, another general managing their outer territory.
Beside him was Nyssa, the one they assigned as the head of the Spy Group, allowing them to gather information outside.
Finally, there was Neylan, the youngest of the leaders, but had the greatest affinity in Chaos Arts among them. Nonetheless, he was assigned as the leader of the Faction’s Special Unit where only 12 other Immortals could join.
Kent, Eryn, Arin, Gyn, Nyssa, and Neylan... They were the ones controlling the Unbound Faction after their predecessors sacrificed their lives to attain their Faction’s current standing in this Shattered Expanse.
At this time, they gathered here for their scheduled meeting to ensure that the Faction is functioning properly.
"Report," Kent said.
Eryn was the first to speak. "The Elemental’s Obsidian Shard faction has been encroaching on our eastern territory. They’ve been testing our defenses for the past few months.
If we don’t push back soon, they’ll take the Crimson Vein—our primary source of arcane crystals."
Arin slammed a fist on the table. As one of the generals, she was not afraid of a battle at all.
"Let them come. I’ll reduce their stronghold to ash."
Gyn, on the other hand, shook his head.
"We can’t afford to waste resources on a full-scale war. Not with the ritual so close. We need those crystals to power the runes. Furthermore, we need to save more so we can take over our true world."
Nyssa nodded at this as she also couldn’t wait to leave this godforsaken land...
"Agreed. We should focus on fortifying our defenses and conserving our energy. The ritual is our priority."
Although it seemed that the Crimson Vein was very important, it just contained a meager amount of arcane crystals. At most, it would form three or four thumb-sized crystals every year!
Neylan could also agree to this...
"Speaking of the ritual, I’ve been studying the runes Mennena provided. They’re... a bit unstable. If we’re not careful, the feedback could tear us apart."
Kent’s expression darkened. "We don’t have a choice. The barriers between realms are weakening, but not fast enough. If we don’t act now, we’ll be stuck here forever."
This was certainly their true problem... If they don’t continuously spend their resources to maintain the weak connection they have, they might really be unable to return home and that would waste all the sacrifices of their predecessors!
