Chapter 941: The Ritual ( 4 )

Chapter 941: The Ritual ( 4 )

After the sudden change in the surroundings, there was certainly no need to continue hiding his presence.

Soon, Vale had stepped out of the shadows... His presence was hidden by the shadows under his control, revealing his identity as the Shadow Immortal.

Indeed, as soon as his appearance was witnessed by those Psychic Arts Practitioners who were still free, they immediately realized that he was indeed the Immortal they had heard rumors about.

These people were immediately elated as they knew that the Shadow Immortal would save them from the evil creature. They might get punished because of their actions but it was better than being controlled and replaced by the soul of the Ancient Devil.

Nonetheless, Vale didn’t care about that and focused on the Ancient Devil in front.

"That’s enough, Astarith."

The remaining fragments of his soul that hadn’t fused to any of the Arcanists froze mid-air, turning their attention toward him.

The integrated hosts also stopped, their heads moved to face him with an unnatural synchronicity. That was such a scary sight.

In just a few seconds, the Ancient Devil had actually controlled so many Arcanists. If this lasted for a long, Vale wouldn’t be surprised if the people in all the villages would actually be turned into his puppets.

One of the larger fragments of the Devil’s soul hovered closer.

It observed Vale’s appearance for a few moments before speaking.

"And who are you to command me, mortal?"

Just from this, Vale realized that his concealment was perfect since he was able to hide his Divinity from the Devil. Since the Astarith couldn’t sense any form of Divinity within his body, it wasn’t that surprising that he would get mistaken as a mortal.

No, to be exact, this was what Vale wanted.

Vale’s expression remained calm, however, so it made the Ancient Devil hesitate for a little bit. After all, he knew very well that the aura he was releasing shouldn’t be something that could be easily ignored by mortals.

Now, he was worried if the person in front of him was using an Arcana or something even better, like Immortal Artifacts.

Anyway, Vale didn’t plan to hide his identity for long. He just wanted to see whether he would be able to really hide his Divinity from the Ancient Devil.

He soon removed the shadows blocking his aura and revealed his appearance.

"I am Vale, the Shadow Immortal. You’ve overstayed your welcome in this realm."

As he said this, he noticed that the Ancient Devil was confused at first since he didn’t know him at all. However, as the Divinity he had hidden started to leak, he immediately knew that he was in trouble.

Unfortunately for him, he had already closed the rift that was connected to his home. He could only try to fight if he wanted to live!

The fragments of its soul then rushed at Vale, their movements were swift as he didn’t want to waste his time. Of course, the soul itself didn’t release any form of Spells but it covered itself with a dense amount of Corrupted Divinity.

"Nice try..."

With a flick of his wrist, Vale conjured a barrier of pure shadow, absorbing the initial wave of attacks.

He knew immediately that the fragmented souls just wanted to take over his body... If he allowed one of them to enter his body, he wasn’t sure if he would be able to win against it.

Anyway, Vale stepped forward as he wanted to capture the largest soul fragment. At the same time, he also used his Shadow Manipulation to bind all the Arcanists that had become puppets to the Ancient Devil.

Indeed, the Arcanists that the Devil controlled couldn’t move at all!

As for those who weren’t affected by the fragmented soul, Vale also protected them with his Shadow Manipulation.

Though he doesn’t owe anything to them, he feels that the damage that the Ancient Devil had done was already enough.

"Your kind should just give up coming here... I have to make a sample of you." Vale said as he considered how to deal with the Ancient Devil.

He had plenty of ways to kill it but he wanted to ensure that this creature would be the last one of his kind to come here.

Nonetheless, the Ancient Devil wasn’t giving up...

He certainly made a mistake in entering hundreds of Arcanists’ bodies, making himself really weak and unable to cast powerful spells.

However, he couldn’t just give and he needed to escape!

Indeed! He just realized that Vale’s power was currently beyond his capabilities, so he had to create an opening to escape!

"I will come back for you, Immortal!"

Astarith said as he burst with power.

All the puppet Arcanists suddenly started draining their lives to burst their current Arcane Energy!

Because of that, they were able to struggle and escape from Vale’s Shadow Bind.

As Vale thought that they were about to scatter and escape, they actually started surrounding him and attacking from all sides.

Vale was a bit surprised by this but it was just for a brief moment.

Vale responded with Active Curse Break followed by Sacred Blessing, hoping to get their minds straight... However, it was ineffective so Vale could only try using Holy Smite!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

As soon as he used his Holy Smite, the Astraith’s soul fragments within their bodies were immediately destroyed! Unfortunately, Vale had no way of saving those who had been possessed! They also suffered injuries and they were barely hanging on with their lives.

This simple battle continued for a while as hundreds of possessed Arcanists started charging at him... Vale had no choice but to attack them since he also wanted to destroy those Soul Fragments.

’You actually made it easier for me.’ Vale thought as he believed that it would take him more time if Astarith was in his full strength. After all, his binding abilities were only effective on those weaker than him.

For those with Corrupted Divinity, their powers would be equal and he would only have an advantage with the amount of Divinity that he had and the Perfect Realm Celestial Arts that he could use right away...

"Alright... Stop hiding. Let me extract you now." Vale muttered as his Divine Sense locked onto the Soul Fragment which was trying to escape while he was busy dealing with the puppet Arcanists.
