Chapter 52 Lucian Drakenhart

Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Lucian Drakenhart

She chased after him down the hallway. His broad frame was closer in sight; she sprinted down the hall. But as she was almost about to reach him, his grey eyes locked on hers—then, as if everything was an illusion, he disappeared into thin air.

By the time Olivia got to where he was standing, she couldn’t find even a trace of him. She angrily hit the wall. "Sh*t," she inhaled deeply.

Before she could dwell on it, the sound of the bell rang loudly, summoning all the students to the assembly hall.

Soon, everyone gathered in the morning assembly courtyard. Whispers buzzed—a talk of a transfer student from the Suncrest Fortress—but no one knew for sure if the rumour was valid or not. So all the students waited patiently to see if the news was the cake or the icing on top.

Michael Thomson, the headmaster, walked to the elevated platform. "Ahem, I believe most of you have heard about the news of a student transferring to our academy and home," he paused, gauging the students’ reactions.

"See, I told you so! You know my father works with the higher-ups, so the news is valid," a student proudly said.

"But why was he transferred here?"

"I guess we can never tell."

"I thought we were enemies with Suncrest. Then why are we taking a student of theirs?"

The students’ chatter echoed through the hall.

Thud.

Michael hit the table, making the noise die down. "Silence!" he yelled. His chest rose up and down from anger. He inhaled deeply, wearing his calm demeanour again. "As I was saying before the interruption, we have a new transfer student from the Suncrest Fortress. It is highly expected of us to treat him nicely and as one of our own," he gritted his teeth at the last part.

"You may come in now," he announced.

Olivia watched the announcement with disinterest. Her legs itched to chase after the mysterious man again. Then, the familiar scent invaded her nostrils, and her head snapped towards the door.

The air in the courtyard shifted. The pressure grew heavy as everyone watched in anticipation. Then he appeared.

His silhouetted figure came into view, his tall, well-built body gracefully walking towards the platform. He was cloaked in black. White hair brushed just above his sharp grey eyes. His pale skin made him look ethereal and out of this world. But his presence screamed authority.

The crowd parted unconsciously as he walked forward, each step heavy, deliberate, as if the ground had to adjust to him. The girls blushed from his handsomeness, others tripping for him. But he remained unfazed under their gazes.

As if he could sense her gaze, his head snapped towards Olivia. Olivia’s heart stopped for a moment, her green eyes locked with grey ones. For a breathless second, it felt like the world had frozen, leaving them both in the courtyard.

Her heart thudded painfully in her chest. Why was he affecting her like this? It wasn’t just attraction, it was deeper. He was a stranger but he looked so familiar. Like she’d met him before... or maybe dreamed of him.

Her legs moved on their own, as if drawn by a string she couldn’t see. She began to walk towards his direction. His lips tugged up ever so slightly, and without realizing it, a small smile curved on her lips.

"Watch where you are going, you section 27 wretch." A student’s voice broke her trance.

"I’m sorry," she quickly muttered. By the time she turned her attention back to him, he had already walked to the platform. He took his place beside Micheal, standing tall and composed.

Klaus’ eyes narrowed at him, his jaw gritting. For some weird reason, he didn’t like this guy. His presence was too thick for someone their age.

Klaus clenched his fists. There was something off about this guy. Whatever his purpose was, Klaus doubted it was just to learn. He reeks of trouble. The kind that didn’t just knock on your door... It kicked it down.

Alexa slightly tensed up, she felt her hair stood up, this guy... his rank is higher than hers. But how was that possible? The headmaster paused, his gaze scrutinising him. His aura was too strong for someone like him.

"Why does he give off instructor vibes?" one student whispered.

"No clue. He doesn’t even look older than us."

"Then why does it feel like he could kill us with a blink?" another muttered dramatically.

The students exchanged glances before turning their eyes back to the new student.

Lydia chuckled, flipping her hair with practiced ease. "He’s just a pretty face. Klaus would wipe the floor with him."

"I would love to have my hands on him. How can someone look so out of this world?" a girl squealed from behind.

Lydia shot daggers at her—the pure definition of if only looks could kill. "He is nothing in comparison to Klaus," she said, folding her arms across her chest. Her gaze daring the girl to utter any more words.

Olivia’s eyes only lingered on his cold figure on the platform. Something clawed within her mind, trying to break free. But no matter what, it was only restricted more.

"Ahem. This is Lucian Drakenhart. He’ll be joining the Cataclysmic Ascension, Level Two. Effective immediately." Michael’s words sparked another roar of chattering.

"The Cataclysmic Ascension?"

"Isn’t that reserved for elites?"

The students’ mouths opened in awe, completely taken aback by the information. Who was he exactly? They wondered.

Olivia’s breath caught in her throat. Her hands trembled ’ Who is he really? Why do I feel so attracted to him? Why does my heart hurt anytime I see him?... Why does he feel so familiar?’ She thought inwardly. She didn’t know why, but a rising panic twisted in her gut.

Klaus narrowed his gaze just as Lucian snapped his head towards him. Lucian’s lips curved into a smirk, his grey eyes staring intently at him with unknown promises of making the school a living hell for him.

Klaus didn’t back down. Rather, he returned the smirk.

"Why does he look familiar?" He couldn’t figure out exactly where he had seen him before. But one thing was for sure—the school was going to become more interesting.
