Chapter 124: Chapter 123 Secrets and Trust

Olivia was still contemplating what her decision would be. Right now, training under the merciless Stefan Danmonwalk seemed to be the best option for her to grow stronger.

While she was still in her thoughts, the door clicked open.

"I said I’ll decide tomorrow," she said without turning to see who was at the door.

"And what are you deciding tomorrow?" Lucian’s voice echoed from behind her.

Hearing his voice, her heart skipped a beat, but on the outside, she maintained a nonchalant expression, cold and fierce.

"You brought me here, thank you."

"There is no need to mention that. I went over to Abigail’s to request her help," he said with warmth in his eyes, walking closer to her.

"Oh, thank you."

"I heard you fought in the pit today. Are you looking for death? Why are you so reckless?"

Olivia’s gaze met with his. She wanted to ask, how was that his business? He didn’t need to worry or be mad at her for doing whatever she had done. It’s her life.

"I went there to survive, Lucian. Michael made me do it," she muttered, saying something absolutely different from what she actually wanted to say.

Lucian sighed before sitting beside her. "Why would he do that?" he asked, with a frown.

"Because I burned the forest and killed some of the monsters they had kept in there." Her gaze flickered to her hand, which was fidgeting with the sheet. She quickly stopped when she realized that.

Unknowingly to her, Lucian’s gaze also followed her eyes to her fidgeting hand. "But he knew it wasn’t intentional. You were only trying to protect yourself," his voice softened with warmth and concern. He reached out his hands toward hers, wrapping her hands in his.

Olivia tried to pull out her hands from his, but his grip tightened around hers, holding it down.

"Let go of me," she struggled against his grip. She didn’t like what his touch was doing to her. It was warm, a gesture telling her she wasn’t alone. It was a nice feeling. However, this was exactly the same feeling she wanted to run away from, to bury.

Because if she let him in now, even a little, all the walls she had worked so hard to build would start to crumble, and she wasn’t ready for that kind of hurt again.

Seeing how she desperately wanted to get away from his touch as if it burned, Lucian smiled, but it wasn’t a happy one. He retracted his hand.

Then silence fell on the room. Both of their gazes wandered around the room but avoided each other.

When the silence grew more intense, "So what are you going to decide tomorrow?" he asked, both out of curiosity and with the intention to break the uncomfortable silence.

Olivia stared at his shoulders, nervous to meet his eyes. She didn’t know if she should answer him or not. If she did, wouldn’t it make them become closer?

According to Diana, she should avoid him as much as possible. But then, there was this strange string that kept pulling her back to him, no matter how she tried to get away.

She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "He wants to train me as his special student."

Lucian’s face lit up like a bulb. "Really? That makes both of us." A smile curved on his lips.

’What? Both of us?... no way.’

"You are also going to train under him?"

"Yes."

Olivia closed her eyes in frustration. How was she supposed to avoid him if he kept following her around like a stubborn fly?

"By the way, about Michael, why does he want to desperately make you die? I mean, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t have brought you to the pit to fight." His voice grew serious. He wanted to see how much she was willing to trust him.

He had remembered when she had spied on the monster and a supposed big figure in the school. And how Michael had tried to get into her mind, to see if she was the spy. If it wasn’t because of him using his powers to keep Michael out of her mind, maybe Olivia would have been no more than bones in a six-foot grave.

But unfortunately, he could not see the way to the hidden pathway, so that was why he needed her help, but she had been giving him the cold shoulder.

Olivia stared at his calculative expression. She had heard about his plans and how he intended to bring the school’s secrets into light.

If she told him what she saw, he could use it as evidence and maybe dig out more skeletons in their wardrobe. But could she trust him?

She also needed to find out about their secrets, and exactly what the blue pills were for, and why they came from a monster.

She bit her lower lip as she weighed her options, but after a while, her lips parted. "Because he couldn’t get into my mind, and he suspects I was the spy they were looking for."

This was her secret, and she entrusted it to him. She didn’t know if this was a foolish decision. It was not like she trusted him, no she didn’t. However, if she needed to find out what the school was all about, he was the best shot she could have.

Surprise flickered through Lucian’s eyes, his heart covered with a blanket of warmth. She trusted him, he believed so. His hand tightened into a loose fist, determination flashing in his eyes. He would protect her, no matter the cost.

"Is that all?"

"I saw it, Lucian. The school is colliding with monsters, and the blue pills are gotten from monsters. Then, they distribute them to the students." She said with hesitation. This was like a double-edged sword. If she was wrong about him, it wouldn’t just cost her secrets. It could cost her life.

She saw how he clenched his jaw. If he believed her, then she could get to the bottom of this.

"Do you know their hideout?" he asked almost too impatiently.

Olivia’s brow arched in suspicion, but she didn’t care about his motive. She only wanted to get the information she wanted.

"Yes, I do."

"Good, we will check it out after you are fully healed," he said, his fingers brushing against hers like a feather, sending a tingling sensation down her spine.
