Li Yu exchanged a look with Old Lü beside him after hearing the question from the other side.

Immediately, he said: "Didn't you guys send people to find us twice already? How do you not know who we are now?"

There was sudden silence from the other side.

Li Yu slowly took out a hand grenade, ready to pull the pin and throw it inside, but he heard a voice from the villa: "This is a misunderstanding, we just want to cooperate with you..."

Before the sentence was finished, Li Yu had already thrown the hand grenade in his hand into the villa and then led the others to charge in.

By this time, it was the point of no return; there was no turning back to negotiate.

Fight on.

With the help of Li Yu and Li Hang, Old Lü's side's firepower significantly increased.

Soon, everyone had stormed inside.

Limbs were strewn across the ground.

Cries of agony were everywhere.

Among them, a few people surrounded one person; Li Yu slowly walked forward.

These people raised their hands in surrender, and Li Yu asked, "Who is Ke Hanyu?"

The ones with their hands up pointed to a mutilated corpse on the ground.

Li Yu understood and then left the villa.

Just as he stepped out of the villa's gate, gunshots rang out from inside.

Old Lü approached Li Yu and asked, "'Director Li, shall we head to the back next?"

Li Yu thought for a moment and said: "You all look around to see if there are any fish that slipped through the net; I'll take them to support Third Uncle."

After saying that, Li Yu took Li Hang and the others away from the villa, heading straight for the civilian area.

The closer they got to the civilian area, the more civilians they encountered on the road.

And Li Yu, with blood in his eyes, spared not one.

They soon reached the ABC area.

In silent understanding, they split into three teams to clear the buildings.

...

Meanwhile, at the entrance areas of various buildings, He Chao and his people encountered a few scattered individuals from Safe City.

Following Li Yu's orders, they did not spare a single one.

This night was a night of carnage.

The gunfire continued until dawn.

The sun, red as blood, rose.

It illuminated the sky, and the crimson firmament seemed to weep as well.

Every person that Li Yu brought with him was covered in blood.

Li Yu held his somewhat heated gun barrel.

He arrived at the entrance area, where, half an hour earlier, He Chao and his men had captured someone.

He was immediately taken down and shot by He Chao's group.

They confirmed his identity, and it was indeed Old Wu.

This operation was swift and fierce.

Almost effortlessly, they completely dismantled Safe City.

Perhaps some had escaped through unknown means, but very few likely got away.

The leaders of Safe City had all been dealt with.

Proclaiming the victory of this operation.

Li Yu saw He Chao standing stunned and handed him a cigarette.

He Chao numbly took it.

Li Yu took a drag from the cigarette and asked, "Quite brutal, isn't it?"

He Chao looked up at Li Yu, his eyes dark and inscrutable, unsure of what to say for a moment.

But then he thought, isn't that just the way of this world sometimes?

The survival of the fittest.

It's utterly cold through and through.

In this thoroughly chaotic world, basic moral concepts had vanished, leaving only the need to protect one's loved ones.

He didn't know if it was right or wrong.

But, they had won.

Seeing He Chao not speaking, Li Yu also became lost in thought.

Looking back, along the way, they had come into conflict with many forces.

Li Yu's original intention was to remain hidden in the mountains, unconcerned with the chaos of the outside world.

But the trees wish for quiet, yet the wind does not cease.

Troubles and problems always found their way to him.

Always cautious, he disliked leaving threats and troubles unchecked, so he took the initiative to strike.

If only others would not provoke him, that would be better.

This was all Li Yu could hope for.

He patted He Chao on the shoulder and said, "Alright, let's get ready to go."

He Chao nodded, lighting the cigarette that Li Yu had just given him.

Li Yu left the gate, strolled around nearby, and indeed discovered some things that could be taken.

These people left behind firearms and a few solar generators.

There was even a riot vehicle that had been modified, and he had to admit the modification was quite impressive.

...

All of this now fell into Li Yu and his group's hands.

They had come with a party of forty.

Apart from the vehicles they drove over, they took away more than a dozen cars, stuffed full of items.

This slaughter left Li Yu feeling somewhat disturbed inside.

As usual, he cleaned up the battlefield.

In Safe City, they found very little food.

As the sun climbed higher, Li Yu and his group turned off the night vision goggles, looking at Safe City under the sunlight.

The rising sun and the quiet streets.

Serene yet eerie.

...

Soon after they packed up everything, they prepared to leave.

On the deserted streets, the hubbub was gone.

Li Yu, seeing everyone had gotten into the vehicles, shouted, "Let's go, home."

Hearing these three words, everyone felt a jolt.

The night of the previous day was one they would not easily forget.

By the end, everyone had become somewhat numb to the killing.

The journey was very quiet.

No one asked questions, nor did they say anything, there was no laughter, and even less of the joy that follows a victory.

Silence.

On the streets near Safe City, the glass windows of the storefronts were shattered.

But the sunlight reflecting off of them dazzled Li Yu's eyes.

A bit blinding, but the light was exceptionally colorful.

In the sunlight, one could see the mayflies in the air.

On the way back, they encountered no zombies.

So they arrived at Big Camphor Tree Base a little after two in the afternoon.

Less than ten minutes apart on another road, a well-equipped unit passed by them.

But neither was aware of the other.

Opening the gate, Li Yu returned to Weng City to rest; the quietness of the journey was too terrifying.

Not until returning to the base did the harmonious atmosphere envelop them all at once.

After waiting for some time, everyone had made their way back inside the base.

He Chao and his group also returned to Outer City; after this excursion, Li Yu was fairly satisfied with their performance.

Obeyed commands, did not act recklessly, this is very important.

The excursion had been exhausting, so upon returning to the base, everyone went to their own rooms to rest.

It is worth mentioning that, to reward He Chao and others, once again the outing's participants received increased points for entering the City, and with these points, they were not far from being able to enter the Inner City.

On top of the original terms, every person was given an additional two pounds of rice per month.

Around seven pounds of rice per month was just enough for each person's monthly consumption.

After returning to the base, He Chao immediately went to reunite with his daughter.

He Chao was now eligible to enter the Inner City.

It was his first time entering Inner City, and at first, it almost dazzled him.

What he had not expected, in this post-apocalyptic world, was to find a perfectly preserved library.
