Apocalyptic Era: Starting from picking up a Bishoujo
Chapter 582 - 546 Doomsday Truth 2

Chapter 582: 546 Doomsday Truth 2

Upon hearing, I first looked at Little Bowl’s reaction.

Although the previous clues were enough to prove that the idea of "the Common Sense World and the Weird World not interfering with each other" logically doesn’t hold, saying that they were never separated is rather extreme. How then can we explain why the demon hunters never intervened in secular affairs in the past?

Moreover, the Fantian Event over four years ago was the result of the divine seal power separating the two worlds disappearing. It’s like how there isn’t the concept of dying for something that never lived; a power that never existed doesn’t have the notion of disappearing.

Of course, I wouldn’t immediately judge that No. 7 is speaking without aim, but that statement is really—wait, hold on.

A flash of insight illuminated a dark corner of my mind. Perhaps I was mistaken from the very beginning. The Fantian Event over four years ago wasn’t about "some power vanishing", the truth might be the reverse.

And Little Bowl transformed my vague thoughts into actual words: "I see, Lady No. 7, you mean... the Common Sense World and the Abnormal World don’t need to be separated, as they’ve been irrelevant to each other from the start.

"And the events causing them to merge a few years ago weren’t due to ’the power that separates them disappearing’ but ’the power that merges them emerging’... Can we understand it this way?"

"You can understand it this way." No. 7 nodded, "Next, what I want to speak about is the truth about Doomsday. That said, I can’t quite say I’m in full grasp of the truth. Although it seems like I should have that kind of access, actually, there are things I’m not qualified to know.

"However, I can assure you that what I say, even if not 100% true, is at least 80% correct.

"First of all, you should all be able to accept the concept of ’otherworldly’, right?"

Little Bowl and I both expressed no problem.

As a foe I will ultimately face, Shan Liangyi possesses the ability to traverse into other worlds through reincarnation. The concept isn’t new to me.

"You can first assume there exist two entirely different otherworlds," No. 7 said. "One of the worlds—World A—is a world of pure common sense, where monks don’t exist, neither do abnormalities, nor any supernatural phenomena, just as the textbooks of the Common Sense World describe.

"The other world—World B—on the contrary, is where monks and abnormalities, viewed as non-common sense in World A, are prevalent common sense, akin to how fantasy stories depict the world of immortal cultivation and magic.

"Then, one day, someone found the divine seal in one of these worlds and made a wish upon it.

"He wished to summon the other world over and merge the two together."

Although No. 7 didn’t mention who this "someone" is, at that moment, none other than the Master of Divine Seal came to mind.

No. 7 wouldn’t directly admit it, so I just continued listening to her.

"This merging isn’t merely a spatial connection; it’s a comprehensive and profound amalgamation, including time or ’history’," she says. "But this fusion leads to a fatal problem... Two time-spaces with different worldviews can run independently without issues, yet they cannot logically coexist when trying to run under the same time-space.

"Just as you can’t design a particle accelerator under a European Middle Ages historical background nor develop complete capitalism during primitive tribal times... In our world, it’s implausible for common people to develop as we know with the Weird World existing.

"Forcing them to merge with sheer power only results in an awkward twist, such as ’World A’s people historically inexplicably ignoring World B’s people, and vice versa.’ It’s akin to forcefully pushing together two puzzle pieces that don’t fit, eventually damaging both pieces. Numerous errors arise during this process.

"Consequently, the history of the ’AB World’ we live in has encountered significant malfunctions. If our ’present’ is a skyscraper under construction with new floors being built upwards while many load-bearing walls below are successively demolished... What happens next?"

"It’ll crumble." Little Bowl pondered aloud, "So this is the so-called ’Doomsday happened in the past’..."

I mentally chewed over these startling revelations, then asked, "According to what you said, is the original form of our world merely World A with only common sense?"

"I don’t know." No. 7 said, "You might think that because your childhood was spent in the Common Sense World, but from my perspective, our world’s original form is more likely World B—the Weird World.

"As for the reason, I need not elaborate. In an A World where abnormalities don’t originally exist, how could there be a divine seal, or someone using the divine seal to summon another world? Now the common person can rely on technology to secure material wealth in A World—the Common Sense World, perhaps being the summoned outsider."

Little Bowl didn’t suggest that No. 7 was lying to me. Regardless of whether No. 7’s information is the ultimate truth, currently, this Divine Seal Fragment holder’s subjective thinking deems her words as true.

Yet this does introduce some contradictions with Little Bowl’s previous narrations.

Little Bowl stated that all abnormalities are born from errors; whereas, in No. 7’s words, abnormalities seem to be originally existing entities...

Could it be a matter of perspective? Depending on the standpoint, the criteria for judging right and wrong may shift. In our view, abnormalities are offspring of error; but from an abnormal’s view, perhaps we are the error.

This seems to make complete sense. The greatest cause of Doomsday lies in the collision of two worlds. From one side’s view, the cause of self-destruction is the other side it crashed into, the entities residing on the other side being embodiments of error.

As this two-world collision intensifies, the presence of the other becomes increasingly significant. The rise in abnormal incidents perhaps isn’t a rise in abnormalities themselves, but more abnormalities landing in the Common Sense World.

Although not knowing Little Bowl’s relation to Zhu Jiu and Zhu Shi, she may, like them, naturally consider issues from the standpoint of the Common Sense World, hence inclined to regard the Weird World’s contributions as errors.

If that’s the case, then preventing Doomsday might not require the demise of abnormalities, seemingly negating the premise for opposing Mazao and the others.

Yet in such a scenario, it necessitates judging all from the Common Sense World as error and conducting a ruthless reckoning. Since the root cause of Doomsday is the coexistence of both sides, one side must be annihilated. Ultimately, confrontation with Mazao and the others remains inevitable.

Of course, collecting all Divine Seal Fragments and wishing upon the Complete Divine Seal to separate the two worlds again is an option. But the only known person capable of repairing the seal is the Master of Divine Seal.

The Master of Divine Seal is the culprit that attracted this situation. Assuming the Master of Divine Seal is Tai Sui, based on past rumors, it’s hard to imagine he is a madman intent on destroying the world; more importantly, I don’t believe No. 7 would assist that kind of madman. Maybe the Master of Divine Seal had positive motives for merging the worlds, but didn’t anticipate his actions would lead to this scenario. Probably, he regrets it now, wanting to avoid Doomsday by repairing the seal.

No one would agree to let such a criminal with a record handle the seal again.

Then should I attempt to repair the seal? Whether I can do it or not, even if I fight alongside my companions in the name of preventing Doomsday, as long as the adventure aims to "acquire the divine seal", I’ll betray Mazao and the others in the end.

After all, what I crave is a chaotic world, so wishing for world peace is impossible.

Little Bowl seemed still deep in thought, then she said, "Lady No. 7, I recall this topic began with introducing the purpose of the Evangelical Institute, right? To explain to us what the Evangelical Institute aims to do, you first explained the current state of the world...

"Could the Evangelical Institute’s purpose be related to Doomsday as well? Are they also intending to prevent Doomsday?"

"...Exactly." No. 7 revealed a complex expression, "Although I can only criticize the Evangelical Institute’s methods as unconventional, they indeed intend to save the world... Also, it might be the only possible way to save the world without relying on the power of the divine seal."

Little Bowl seemed to have immediately thought of the answer, "I see... So this is why the Evangelical Institute executes all survivors outside their influence indiscriminately. But what’s the point of preventing Doomsday this way?"

"Sorry, if I’m mistaken, please correct me." I also thought of that cold answer, "Is the Evangelical Institute’s goal perhaps to eliminate all humans?"

"That’s about right." No. 7 admitted, "Currently, the two irreconcilable human-historical worldviews operating on this planet are like programs in a computer that conflict with each other, dragging the entire system environment to a crash.

"With no possibility to reprogram them, the only thing to do is wield the knife against all humanity."
