Chapter 370: 344 Wu Hao Weichi 3
It’s quite ironic to think about it; currently, the Lushan Great Impermanence are gathered at the headquarters to discuss how to deal with the forces of the Void Realm. However, one of the Great Impermanence present is actually a member of the Void Realm forces, just like the Weichi before me.
According to previous introductions by Zhu Shi, Weichi’s job at headquarters involves designing and constructing Different Spaces that act as barriers between the outside world and the headquarters. If the headquarters were a city with military purposes, he would be the chief engineer specifically in charge of setting up the city walls and defenses, a position of undeniably high status. It’s somewhat darkly humorous to think that such an individual harbors this secret identity—it truly is a case of "the enemy within."
Regardless of whether it’s Divine Light or Weichi, I estimate neither has the intention to stand against Luo Mountain. Like me, they were forced into the Void Realm. Although Xuanming and Xu Gou represent the so-called "Void Realm forces" hostile to Luo Mountain, such forces, in essence, do not exist. The seven of us have no intention to form a group, and I don’t wish to be represented by those two, and I believe Divine Light and Weichi feel the same.
What concerns me now is why Weichi could see through my disguise. Although I don’t mind others recognizing me as an envoy of the Void Realm, I am very curious about his reasoning process.
Weichi took a small cloth bag from his person and silently handed it over to me. After receiving it and looking down, through the half-open mouth of the bag, I could see a new glass talisman inside, containing Mana. Judging by the mana fluctuations, its source was also Great Impermanence; although the material felt unfamiliar, the moment I touched it, my mind automatically conjured the image of Divine Light, whom I had only glimpsed as a shadow figure in the Void Realm.
Additionally, the interior of the bag was engraved with numerous faint runes. Countless runes formed an Array, faintly glowing and establishing a mysterious connection with my consciousness as the holder.
Weichi’s voice then resounded from within that connection.
"...Number Three, it’s me," he said.
This was telepathy.
And unlike usual telepathy, there was an encrypted hint to prevent eavesdropping, probably carried out by the rune Array painted inside the bag.
Based on past experiences, establishing a consciousness connection seems to reveal some astonishing things. Fortunately, Weichi seemed to have mentally prepared himself; although his voice wavered, he wasn’t caught off guard like Lu Youxun in the past.
"The item in the bag is a token from Divine Light. If you later intend to respond to Divine Light’s call as an envoy of the Void Realm, you can take this token and go to his residence," Weichi continued.
The term "envoy of the Void Realm" initially came from Xuanming and Xu Gou, and I adopted it internally; he then began to use it as well.
"Have you met with Divine Light privately?" I asked.
"I have. Of course, I don’t intend to join Extraordinaryism, it was just a meeting as an envoy of the Void Realm. I believe Divine Light is unlikely to draw you towards Extraordinaryism, and you do not need to join Extraordinaryism just because of his presence," Weichi cautiously said.
I wasn’t interested in that topic but just asked what I most wanted to know: "How did you figure out that I am Number Three?"
"...Because you are Great Impermanence."
In Weichi’s voice, there was a hint of skepticism, as if struggling to accept what he had just witnessed: "What you demonstrated towards those two demon hunters was the power of Great Impermanence, wasn’t it? Ordinary demon hunters, even those of ordinary Great Success Rank, might not recognize it, but I can. It’s definitely a power only Great Impermanence possesses..."
"Yes, I am," I said. "Then what?"
"Divine Light mentioned to me that Number Three—that’s you—could either be Great Impermanence or someone about to become Great Impermanence, and not any Great Impermanence or candidate he had ever met. So, upon confirming you as this unfamiliar Great Impermanence, I immediately connected you with Number Three..." Weichi said, "This token was also given to me by Divine Light; he entrusted me to pass it on to any other envoys of the Void Realm I might encounter at Luo Mountain Headquarters."
I’m not necessarily Number Three; I might be Number One who obliterated the Fufeng Base in black armor... Anyway, we’re all envoys of the Void Realm.
And just combining the clues he could access, it was enough to conclude that I am not Number One, Xu Gou.
"I see."
I accepted his explanation and glanced again at the glass talisman inside the bag.
Now, I possess three glass talisman tokens in total, each from Fa Zheng, Gua Tianshi, and Divine Light. I’ve barely settled at Luo Mountain Headquarters, and three Great Impermanence have already reached out to me.
Even though I should be closer to Governance Ideology, I hold two tokens from Extraordinaryism Great Impermanence. Perhaps Weichi revealed his own identity as Number Five and began talking to me because he couldn’t just watch anymore. Although the token from Divine Light was passed to me by him, given he figured out I am Number Three, it wouldn’t be difficult for Divine Light to identify me in a crowd either.
Weichi’s stance on Governance Ideology seems quite firm, probably arising from a sense of crisis, thus he couldn’t help but remind me that there’s no need to approach the Extraordinaryism camp where Divine Light resides.
It’s evident that he is loyal to the faction he belongs to... Just as this thought surfaced, I suddenly remembered what he once did in the Void Realm.
Weichi—Requesting knowledge from the Master of Divine Seal that could empower him to kill the Luoshan Great Impermanence, "Old Fist God."
This man, renowned for his inferior combat strength at Great Success Rank, actually aspires to kill the strongest Impermanence of Lushan.
What could spur such ambition in him?
Weichi took a step back and at the same time, severed the telepathy connection with me. Zhu Shi and Mr. Zhu saw Weichi handing me the cloth bag, although it was peculiar, they did not voice any queries. I offered no explanation either, simply stowing the bag into my flame before turning to look at the two bewildered Demon hunters beside me.
"Let’s deal with your matter first," I said.
They were startled, huddling together like quails, and one of them cried out, "We... we will do anything, please don’t kill us!"
"As long as you don’t oppose me and those around me, I naturally won’t kill you," I said, "Right now, I just want to ask you a question. Where is Ming Zhuo? I know he’s at the Headquarters, but I’m not sure of his exact location. You are his subordinates, tell me."
The two seeing me address Ming Zhuo by name immediately turned pale and nervously scanned the surroundings.
"Don’t worry, Ming Zhuo can’t hear us," I said. "Or are you unwilling to speak?"
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from nearby: "It’s not that they are unwilling to speak; they are unable to speak..."
Looking towards the source, I saw Lu Chan, who had appeared on the street across from us, walking towards us.
Saying "I didn’t know when" is a bit pretentious; I knew he was in a nearby street. The mana fluctuations emitted by these two demon hunters just now probably attracted him here.
Also, I was aware of the possibility that these demon hunters couldn’t divulge any information. Although last time they were only unable to reveal the truth that "Ming Zhuo is the mastermind behind the scenes," even if speaking with them knowing this truth, they might still be unable to disclose other information related to Ming Zhuo. But no harm in trying, what if they could speak?
"I will tell you where Ming Zhuo is, can you let them go?" Lu Chan said helplessly.
"Okay," I nodded, "But since they are no longer your colleagues, do you still need to consider them? Also, since you should have left Ming Zhuo’s faction, how do you still know of Ming Zhuo’s current whereabouts?"
Come to think of it, since entering the vicinity of Moon Concealing Mountain last time, I haven’t paid much attention to Lu Chan’s movements, and I hardly know what he has done. Next, he probably won’t say that he has returned to Ming Zhuo’s side and then hand me a token from Ming Zhuo, inviting me to visit Ming Zhuo’s residence, right?
Although I know it’s unlikely, having been continually handed tokens before, I couldn’t help but let my thoughts wander wildly.
"Even if we are no longer on the same side, we still share some past bonds," Lu Chan said. "As for how I know Ming Zhuo’s location... I was once directly under Ming Zhuo in the Dark Department. Although now I can’t directly monitor his movements, I still know well the usual places he frequents.
"The Great Impermanence conference has not officially started yet; he is definitely in a research facility on the outskirts of the Headquarters. If you’re worried about finding the place, I can guide you later."
"Thank you then," I turned towards the two demon hunters, "You can go now. And, don’t mention that you saw me here."
My words can form a word spirit, interfering with others’ minds. Although complex commands aren’t very convenient, such simple orders are quite effective.
It probably wouldn’t work on someone of Great Success Rank, but these two demon hunters are at most of Residence Level, completely unable to resist my commands. Even if I ordered them to strip and bark like dogs on the spot, they would comply without any resistance... That said, looking at them now, it seems no word spirit is needed, just intimidation is enough to make them do anything.
The two demon hunters were instantly like pardoned prisoners, hurriedly scrambling up from the ground and bowing deeply before preparing to leave. Yet after just a couple of steps, they revealed a hesitant look mixed with fear, stammering as they glanced at me.
"What’s the matter?" I asked, puzzled.
Lu Chan nonchalantly said, "They are probably afraid of being cursed by you."
