Chapter 368: 342 Weichi No.5 1_2

"Weichi?"

Zhu Shi read the name unexpectedly, and seeing me look over, she explained, "Weichi holds the Rank of Great Success within the Governance Ideology faction and is also the most famous Rank of Great Success among demon hunters. His strength in direct battle ranks at the bottom among all the Great Success ranks throughout the history of Luoshan, but he possesses unrivaled Array capabilities in Luoshan’s history.

"It’s said that his understanding of Arrays rivals that of the historical Impermanence who specialized in this field, making him the master of Arrays equivalent of the Great Demon Silver Moon. Some believe that if he is within the Killing Array that he has created, he could even injure Impermanence who step into it.

"Before Xuanming’s betrayal, the Luoshan Headquarters was located in a Different Space, which was personally designed and created by him. And after Luoshan was exposed to the real world, he should have redesigned and created a new Different Space to encompass the Luoshan Headquarters, but for some reason, the progress in that area is at a standstill, temporarily replaced by a barrier created by Gua Tianshi."

This was the second Rank of Great Success said to be able to injure Impermanence, following Water Navy Xuanwu.

Fu Feng didn’t mention Weichi when citing the Ranks of Great Success that are "invincible beneath Impermanence," probably because Weichi’s capacity to harm Impermanence comes with the advantage of terrain. Unlike Water Navy Xuanwu, who can unleash tremendous power at any time and place, Weichi probably needs to spend a significant amount of time setting up the Killing Array on-site and then wait for his opponent to walk into it willingly.

If his Killing Array could be summoned at any time and place, people wouldn’t be saying his "direct combat power is at the bottom."

However, I still have some doubts about Zhu Shi’s description, because Weichi’s powers, like his White Evil uniform, are clearly geared towards support and strategy, while demon hunters generally promote the power of direct combat. Yet someone like that is said to be "the most famous Rank of Great Success." Shouldn’t that title be more fitting for Water Navy Xuanwu?

Or is there something else about Weichi that has made him so renowned in Luoshan?

I had previously only been keen on gathering information about Luoshan’s Impermanence and hadn’t focused much on the Ranks of Great Success. This is the first I’ve heard of Weichi. It seemed Zhu Shi wanted to explain further, but upon glancing at Weichi again, she closed her mouth as if she had some reservations.

After Zhu Shi gave a brief introduction of himself, Weichi spoke again, "I’ve been busy with other matters for the past six months, so I’ve neglected the redesign and creation of the Different Space. Let’s not talk about this; it’s time I showed you the way."

"There’s no rush to go to Fa Zheng; Weichi, can you tell me where Ming Zhuo is now?" I asked.

Weichi frowned, "Do you really intend to challenge Ming Zhuo? Zhuang Cheng, I’ve heard of you. The upstart Rank of Great Success who eliminated Divine Spear in one strike and repelled Great Demon Silver Moon, arrogant enough to challenge Impermanence...

"I know you haven’t been involved in the abnormal world for long and spent all your time in the ordinary society before, so you might feel a godlike omnipotence and think you’re capable of anything, as if all the world’s nations combined aren’t a match for you... but I must advise you, the heights where Impermanence resides are truly beyond your imagination.

"Against Ming Zhuo, you have no outcome other than death."

Zhu Shi interjected, "But didn’t Gua Tianshi say he wanted Zhuang Cheng to come to him after settling his own affairs? Gua Tianshi is an Impermanence who can foresee the future. Since he said that, doesn’t it mean Zhuang Cheng definitely won’t die?"

Weichi shook his head slightly, and Mr. Zhu said, "No... even Gua Tianshi cannot clearly see the fates related to Impermanence and those eligible for their ranks. He was merely making a statement. Even if Zhuang Cheng goes against Ming Zhuo, he will not change his invitation."

Seeing into the future is one thing; I can strain my eyes now and barely glimpse the future as well. Similarly, the future involving Impermanence is unclear to me.

Although Gua Tianshi can certainly see further, more, and clearer, some basic principles are still common. The future related to Impermanence is elusive because they are, to some extent, beyond the temporal and spatial order. Gua Tianshi can at best reason, not perceive clearly.

If I were to die, then his invitation would be treated as if nothing happened. He wouldn’t extend a helping hand in tough times. During my conflict with Silver Moon, he maintained the same position, simply waiting for the victor to emerge before seeking to recruit. Such opportunistic stance undoubtedly makes one feel distaste, and he himself is surely aware of it. Yet, rather than getting involved, he probably prefers to observe from the sidelines to see who is truly favored by the inscrutable destiny.

Fortunately, his stance can still serve as a good reference to gauge the reactions of other Impermanence. If even Gua Tianshi, who also abides by Extraordinaryism like Ming Zhuo, holds this stance, then the likelihood that Fa Zheng will want to disassociate after my fight with Ming Zhuo becomes even lower.

"Do you not intend to tell me the location of Ming Zhuo?" I pressed Weichi.

"I have no interest in sending a guest of Fa Zheng’s to their death. Besides, how could I, a Great Success Rank of the Governance Ideology, be aware of an Extraordinaryism Impermanence’s itinerary?" Weichi shook his head.

If that’s the case, then I’ll have to ask Lu Chan.

Perhaps because Lu Chan has almost recovered from his injuries and likely heard about the matters concerning the Void Realm, I can now sense he is around the Luoshan Headquarters. The Impermanence of the Void Realm, known by the name "Xu Gou," might make him think of his "old friend" Chen Long and lead to more thoughts, letting him realize that this matter might also involve his old enemy, the Daoist, so he has an even smaller chance of missing out on this incident.

Since Lu Chan isn’t too far from here, I plan to head over and greet him directly. At that moment, sounds of shock and agitation came from not too far away.

Looking in that direction, I saw two demon hunters standing across the street, gawking at my face, their eyes filled with particularly fearful emotions.
