Chapter 280: 262 Divine Light
The Master of Divine Seal didn’t seem to want me to end the exchange by simply asking such a simple question.
Was it because he wanted to deepen my connection with the Void Realm? Or was there another purpose?
Previously, by observing subject five and Little Bowl and myself, we only confirmed that transacting with the Master of Divine Seal would intensify the connection with the Void Realm, but we couldn’t confirm if different degrees of questions would result in differing extents of intensification. Now, judging from the Master of Divine Seal’s attitude, it seems that "simple questions" indeed aren’t sufficient to achieve the effects he desired on me.
Since he actively "promoted" it this way, I’m even less likely to comply with his wishes.
"You said that one Divine Seal Fragment can only be exchanged for one answer, right? I’ve already received the answer I wanted, so let’s end the transaction here."
This statement should have been made by the Master of Divine Seal to cease the never-ending questioning by others, but now it had unexpectedly come from my own mouth, which really shows how unpredictable life can be.
"Are you sure you want to miss this opportunity?"
Instead of explaining why he insisted, the Master of Divine Seal continued to probe, "Don’t you have other, more important questions? For example, who exactly is your so-called enemy, the Great Impermanence, or where exactly does your ’superpower’ come from? Just ask, and all questions will be resolved instantly."
The Master of Divine Seal clearly knew about my activities in the real world and likely even understood many of my inner thoughts. However, if he couldn’t manage this level of awareness, it would be quite disappointing given his self-promotion as "knowing most of what happens in this world."
Therefore, I wasn’t surprised and answered without hesitation, "I won’t ask."
I had already claimed to trust Little Bowl’s advice and follow her suggestions. I didn’t plan on being inconsistent here and going back to her later with words like "sorry, I got greedy," which would seem rather cowardly. Moreover, after hearing Little Bowl’s analysis, I managed to regain some of the detachment that a bystander would have.
Just as she said, there was no pressing need for me to know the true identity of the enemy Great Impermanence. Perhaps the mental burden imposed by this dimensional enemy had fostered some weaker thoughts in me, overextending my desire to know who was scheming against us. But is it really that important?
The enemy Great Impermanence had previously attacked us directly, which had significantly added to my stress, causing me to miss the embedded opportunity. Opportunities often hide within crises, and I should view it that way—the enemy is clearly walking right into our hands. Knowing that the enemy Great Impermanence does not prioritize killing Mazao, and that Mazao has the ability to escape from Great Impermanence, all I need to do next is to elevate my power to a level sufficient to combat Great Impermanence.
Perhaps the sincere attitude displayed by Little Bowl previously affected some of my judgments. The activation conditions for her Prayer Power are quite strict; even praying for her own life does not meet the requirements, yet she could assert she would sacrifice her prayers for my safety. This means that in her heart, my life’s safety even surpasses her own. So in front of her, I become somewhat unable to maintain my usual careless attitude toward my own life.
After realizing this, I felt somewhat "restrained" by Little Bowl.
The Master of Divine Seal watched me for a while. Just when I thought he was going to continue "marketing," he curled his finger again, lightly tapping on the armrest of the stone seat. The gray fog that shrouded us returned to its original intensity, and the other Chosen Ones around could see us again. He didn’t seem willing to waste more time and energy persuading me to continue asking questions.
"So, the transaction is over," he said.
I turned around and returned to Little Bowl’s side.
Immediatey, Little Bowl stepped forward, took my hand, and repeatedly examined my body.
She seemed to furrow her brows and reported to me through telepathy, "Indeed, your connection with the Void Realm has deepened, even deeper than I had expected..."
"I didn’t ask more questions just now," I said. "How much deeper did it become?"
"It’s not easy to describe, but... it’s still far less deep in comparison to the connection between the other Chosen Ones and the Void Realm," she breathed a small sigh of relief, "If it’s only this much, it probably won’t be enough to let the Master of Divine Seal affect your life or death."
"That’s enough for me."
I was originally mentally prepared that just one transaction might make me the same as the other Chosen Ones, so this result can be considered unexpectedly good.
While responding, I observed the surroundings and then noticed that the number of people at the venue had decreased.
Number Four Xuanming and Number One have disappeared for some reason.
"Where did those two go?" I asked.
"Mr. Number One said he wanted to talk to Xuanming alone; now they’ve moved deep into the fog," said Number Two Little Bowl.
The topic Number One wants to discuss must be related to the Divine Seal Fragments, but he had already tried before, and Number Four Xuanming’s Divine Seal Fragment couldn’t be loaned to him. What does he want from Xuanming now?
While I was deep in thought, Number One and Number Four Xuanming both returned to the rocky seating area. The two of them stood in different positions as if nothing had happened, neither of them communicating again—it was uncertain whether they had come to an agreement or not.
Meanwhile, Number Four Xuanming did not indicate any intention to propose a trade to the Master of Divine Seal, nor did Number Six. The latter, being an Impermanence, likely got more Divine Seal Fragments just like Xuanming. They must both be wary of the risks potentially involved in a trade.
They should be well aware that their lives are currently at the mercy of the Master of Divine Seal; possibly in their view, the situation hasn’t reached its worst or become unmanageable yet. This is also why I never thought of having Number Two Little Bowl negotiate on my behalf from the start. Perhaps some mysterious and unpredictable pitfalls have already been planted on me.
However, even if this "pitfall" truly exists, it’s not significant enough to impact me critically just yet. This can also be inferred from the attitude of the Master of Divine Seal, who wanted me to ask more questions.
Seeing the numbers complete again, Number Six looked around and suddenly spoke loudly, "According to this Master of Divine Seal, this so-called Void Realm meeting is meant for us to exchange information related to Divine Seal Fragments, but don’t you think this format is too inefficient?"
"What do you mean?" asked Number Four Xuanming.
"The next matter doesn’t involve you."
First, Number Six glanced disdainfully at Number Four Xuanming then addressed us: "I am Lushan Great Impermanence—Divine Light, and currently, I’m at the headquarters in Luo Mountain. Whether you wish to collect more Divine Seal Fragments or have doubts about this competition or the Master of Divine Seal himself, you can come to the headquarters to seek collaboration with me."
He spoke these words without any hesitation, even with the Master of Divine Seal at his side. No matter how you hear it, his intention to cooperate with the other Chosen Ones isn’t to gain a better position in the competition proposed by the Master of Divine Seal. Gathering all the Divine Seal Fragments to fulfill his wishes through the Master of Divine Seal? Such an idea was probably never in his plans.
He is openly challenging the Master of Divine Seal.
The Master of Divine Seal seemed to be as calm as if he were sitting waiting to fish, showing no reaction to these words, allowing the other to continue.
Divine Light... as far as I know, this is the name of one of the four Great Impermanences of Extraordinaryism.
There are four Great Impermanences in Extraordinaryism, and it’s very likely that the mysterious Great Impermanence behind Divine Spear is among these four. I’m certain that Divine Light isn’t the Great Impermanence who attacked Mazao and me recently. Now one suspect can be crossed off the list.
The remaining Great Impermanences still under suspicion, ranked in my mind from most to least likely, are King Zhuanlun, Gua Tianshi, and Ming Zhuo... I continued to calculate silently, observing the developments in the scene.
"Of course, some of you might be in positions that can’t openly approach Luo Mountain, which I understand," continued Number Six Divine Light.
He glanced at Number One and continued, "That’s okay too. Just return to the real world, silently recite my name in your mind, mention your identity as The Chosen One, and I will find you.
"Most of you may think I have ill intentions, harboring some scheme. I won’t make pointless self-justifications here because I really can’t prove my goodwill immediately. But I’ll tell you the benefits directly. If you contact me before the next Void Realm meeting, I’ll gift you a Divine Seal Fragment.
"Whatever you decide to do with the Divine Seal Fragment I give—whether you keep it for research or trade it to the Master of Divine Seal in exchange for knowledge to fulfill your wishes—I won’t interfere."
Before anyone could react, Number One seemed tempted first. He said, "How could you possibly have so many Divine Seal Fragments? No, that’s not the question... We’re supposed to not be able to give our Divine Seal Fragments to others, right? How do you plan to give them away?"
"If what he says is true, the Divine Seal Fragments he plans to give away must be deliberately left unbound from himself," I said.
Unsure whether he was pretending or genuinely didn’t know, Number One asked suspiciously, "Deliberately not binding them to oneself... What’s the point of doing that?"
