Chapter 36: Chapter 36: He is more dead than a pig.
Liora writhed on the ground, her body drenched in sweat as the poison burned through her veins like molten fire. Her vision started blurring from the intense pain, and the world around her distorted into a haze of blissfulness. She bit her lip hard enough to draw blood, trying to stifle the screams that threatened to escape her throat.
She knew she would soon lose her mind and do something she would regret in the future as the poison took effect in her body. Her mind turned into puddles of chaos, and all kinds of thoughts flooded in, just to extinguish the lust and fire raging inside her.
She could only hope that no living creature came near, or she doubted she could stop herself from pouncing on him. Her mind stopped working to distinguish between right and wrong. There was only one thought crashing in her mind—to find someone and merge her entire body with him.
"System!" she gasped with a strained voice. Now was not the time to think, or she would really do something she would regret. "Give me the potion!"
A second later, a cool vial materialized in her trembling hand. With great effort, she uncorked it and poured the glowing liquid down her throat. The effect was immediate—cool relief spread through her body, chasing away the scorching heat that had been searing her insides. The intense pain dulled, her breath steadied, and her limbs stopped convulsing.
"Ahh!" She had never felt this relief in her entire life, neither in this one nor in the past one. Her body was soaked with sweat as if she had run a marathon.
Her fingers dug into the dirt as she forced herself upright, still panting. The system’s voice echoed in her mind, calm as ever. "The poison is subsiding. Your body will take a few minutes to fully recover. Try not to exert yourself."
The potion had taken quick effect; even all her external injuries started fading as if they had never been there, but only a dull ache remained to remind her that it was all real and that the bastard had dared to drug her.
Liora rolled her shoulders, flexing her fingers as the last of the discomfort faded. Now her anger came at full force as she calmed down. That man had dared to do this. Whether it was to torment her or for his dirty tricks, she knew she would take revenge because she was not someone who liked to owe anyone.
System: "...." [she owed him many points.]
The system scoffed in his heart at Liora’s words but did not interrupt her as the situation seemed intense, and he also wanted to teach that bastard a lesson.
Liora’s eyes darkened as she turned her gaze toward the man. He lay unconscious on the ground, breathing steadily as if nothing had happened. Her fingers curled into fists just by looking at his disgusting face.
"System, do I have enough energy left?"
"You shouldn’t push yourself—"
"I didn’t ask that. Do I have enough?"
A pause. Then, "Yes."
That was all she needed to hear.
With slow movements, she stood up and stalked toward him, her lips curling into a smirk as she raised her leg and brought her foot down in a swift, merciless kick—right between his legs.
"Crack!"
A bloodcurdling scream shattered the silence as the man shot upright, his face contorted in agony. His hands clutched his abused area as he let out strangled noises and shouted, "You bitch!" before his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed once more, knocked out from the sheer pain.
"Still arrogant," Liora spat before landing a straight kick on his jaw, dislocating it completely.
"If you kept your mouth shut, maybe someone would actually pity you." She had completely crushed his jaw that only knew how to utter foul words.
Liora exhaled in satisfaction, shaking her foot as if to rid herself of any lingering filth. "That should teach him a good lesson."
Turning away, she approached Zhou Yinuo, who still lay motionless, traversing between consciousness and unconsciousness. Her friend’s face was pale, and her breaths were shallow.
Liora checked Zhou Yinuo’s condition to make sure she had not sustained any life-threatening injuries, but her expression changed when she found her head was bloodied, and there were obvious signs of injuries. She clenched her hand in anger. It would have been better if she had just smashed that bastard’s head, but she could not kill him impulsively.
Soon, the enforcement from the base would arrive, and what if they decided to create trouble for her for killing him? She knew that killing another person was still prohibited even in the apocalypse world. But it was only for weak humans and not for the rich, who could just make anyone disappear without anyone raising a single finger against them.
Without hesitation, Liora retrieved another potion from her inventory. It was a simple healing potion that could alleviate pain and stop bleeding. She had not used the same one because another trouble would come knocking at her, questioning how the wound had suddenly vanished. Carefully, she poured the health potion into Yinuo’s mouth, making sure she swallowed every drop.
A moment passed before Yinuo’s fingers twitched. Then, a weak groan left her lips as her eyelids fluttered open.
Liora sighed in relief. "Are you alright?"
Yinuo blinked groggily, her gaze unfocused. "What... happened?"
Liora smiled at the dazed expression on her face but decided to ask her first, "Is there any pain in your body, like your stomach?" Because the man had kicked her brutally in the stomach, she feared it could have led to internal injuries.
"Hmm? I don’t feel anything, just slight pain in my body," Zhou Yinuo said, clutching her pounding head. Her head was dizzy, and she could not even tell what was happening. But soon, the situation became clear, and she shrieked.
"Liora? Are you alright? That... that man... he tried to mole....." she hurriedly said and started checking Liora with trembling hands.
"Don’t worry. He is more dead than a pig," Liora countered Zhou Yinuo and pointed to the back, where the pig lay sprawled.
