Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Torn apart?

Chen Wei’s hands clenched into fists. He wanted to shout, to rush back, but something stopped him. Something deep within told him that going back now would be more foolish than the plan they had made.

Liang Zihan’s face was filled with confusion and grief. "What do we do now?" he asked, voice cracking. "She’s... she’s going to die."

"I can’t..." Zhou Yinuo collapsed to her knees, her tears falling freely now. "Why... why is she doing this?"

The condition of Chen Wei and Liang Zihan was no different. Their entire bodies were tense, their lips quivering, and their eyes soon filled with moisture.

Meanwhile, Liora was leading the zombie group outside the supermarket. She had not started the fight yet. She did not want any dead bodies of zombies left in the supermarket, where she was going to spend the night.

It would definitely make her nauseated. To save herself the hassle of throwing the bodies of zombies out of the supermarket, it would be better if she killed them outside. The chances of her supplies being ruined would also be less.

But when she was mentally patting herself on the back for such a good idea, she did not know that the trio was grieving over her, thinking she had sacrificed herself for them.

If Liora knew about it, she would give them a big eye roll. Sacrificing herself? Dream on! She was a princess. People served her, not the other way around.

Ding...

[New Mission alert: Kill level 2 Zombie Mutated Zombie...]

Liora suddenly heard a ding sound inside her mind, and a notification of a new mission appeared in front of her.

Liora’s eyes brightened. Finally, she triggered a mission. She had realized that after completing a mission, the rewards are more generous.

So she asked the system when the new mission would arrive, but the system only responded that the mission would be triggered by herself. But before she could think further on it...

Grhhh...

Suddenly, Liora felt a chill on her back. She felt like an extremely malicious thing had set its eyes on her.

Liora shuddered as she felt the malicious thing was inching towards her. And suddenly a foul breath wafted towards her nose that almost made Liora puke with disgust.

"What nasty thing has such a foul smell?" Liora turned around muttering a curse; her entire mood had been ruined. One thing she hates most is the bad smell; she can’t withstand any type of bad smell, especially bad body odor or foul breath. It disgusts her to the core.

Her disgust only intensifies when she comes face to face with a filthy creature. It was at a one meter distance away from her, but Liora could still smell the foul odour, just how bad it was that she can smell it from such distance.

Liora’s face twisted with disgust and sneer as she looked up and down at the zombie, and she realized that it was the same Level 2 Mutated Zombie.

"Huh! You did not wait even a second and came running here, filthy moron." Liora said with sarcasm and blinked her pretty eyes, but it was filled with unmasked chill.

"You should have waited till I finished this level 1 zombies, but you decided to show up. Never mind, let’s mark your grave first." Liora was mumbling with a finger on her chin.

Grrhhhh...GArh...

The mutated zombie suddenly lunged at her with a speed that even shocked Liora. She never thought that level 2 could do wonders to zombies. His speed was almost comparable to that of a mid-level athlete.

But Liora easily dodged its clawed hands, with her hands in her pockets. A wicked smile playing on her lips. "Not bad!" She hooted at the zombie.

The zombie was instantly angry as his prey suddenly dodged; he almost got sprawled on the ground. Even he was not the intelligent one, but his instinct was screaming at him that his prey was making fun of him.

It doubled its rage and lunged at her again with more power.

"Not bad!" she said with a grin. But as she spoke, she realized something was wrong. The zombie wasn’t stopping. It was getting angrier and more focused. It wasn’t attacking mindlessly anymore. It was learning.

The creature growled in frustration and came at her again, this time with more power. Liora’s heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t expected it to be so aggressive. Her usual cocky attitude began to fade as she barely dodged a swipe that could have left a nasty gash.

Liora moved around the zombie, trying to mock it. "You’ve got speed, I’ll admit. But your technique is garbage."

But the zombie didn’t slow down. It kept attacking with speed and precision. Liora dodged another strike. This time, the claws scraped across her shoulder, sending a shock of pain through her.

She stumbled back, and her confidence started to slip. "Alright, stinky, you’ve made your point," she growled. The zombie kept attacking, pushing her to dodge faster and think harder.

A swipe tore through her jacket and left a stinging cut across her midsection. Liora hissed through her teeth. Her jacket was ruined, and the pain from the wound made her angry. "You’ve ruined my jacket," she spat. "Now you’re really starting to annoy me."

The creature’s claws slashed again, too fast for her to fully avoid. One hit her in the thigh, making her stagger back. Her breath was shallow as she realized the true danger of the fight.

Now she realized his is not a mindless zombie like Level 1 zombies; they have a little bit of intelligence, like low-intelligence animals.

Liora had made a mistake thinking she could take it down easily.

The zombie lunged at her again, its claws aiming for her throat. The air buzzed as the claws cut through it, forcing Liora to duck and roll to the side. She needed space to think.

I can’t just keep dodging forever. I need to end this... fast.
