Apocalypse: My Sweetie Is Tough but Cute -
Chapter 536 - Chapter 536 Chapter 537 Insomnia
Chapter 536: Chapter 537 Insomnia Chapter 536: Chapter 537 Insomnia Tang Zelin had listed the pros and cons of her staying, and afterward, she understood that her staying wouldn’t be of much help at the moment.
The help she could offer, she had already given, having left behind weapons to combat the Alien Humanoids.
Within the Apocalyptic System, she had attempted to contact several planes, hoping to find a fundamental solution to the Alien Humanoid issue.
Unfortunately, none were successful.
The Apocalyptic Planes she could open a connection to had either never faced these types of Alien Humanoids or had been so overrun that they didn’t even have weapons left.
The situations in those Apocalyptic Planes were much more severe than hers.
Seeing her with dark circles under her eyes, Tang Zelin felt deeply compassionate.
“If you haven’t found a suitable one, let it be. Humans are the foundation; the system is not omnipotent after all. The main thing is how we, the living, unite to solve this. Don’t stress yourself out.”
“I promise you, I will return to C City. Isn’t there two days left before I go? I’ll try harder to see if I can find a new solution.”
Seeing her so persistent, Tang Zelin couldn’t find the words to dissuade her. After all, his wife’s efforts were for his own safety.
Whether the Alien Humanoids could be thoroughly resolved, he didn’t know.
But he knew one thing for certain–he would fight to the death rather than let those Alien Humanoids reach those behind him.
Behind him were countless ordinary people struggling to survive the Apocalypse, still harboring hope.
They were still unaware that in some corner of the world, there existed things too terrifying to imagine or believe.
That had to be kept a secret to the very end, otherwise, it would only lead to greater panic.
Now, the survival system painstakingly established in the Apocalypse would collapse with the slightest error.
Order would cease to exist and, after the natural disaster, uncontrollable human-caused disasters would follow.
Tang Zelin’s thoughts were more complex, and he knew Su Shu was someone who took things to heart.
Just watching her silently researching in the space made his heart ache.
At night, with the bed beside him empty, he couldn’t sleep either.
Su Shu was in the space, and in the deep of night, only he lay there alone.
Unable to sleep, he sat up, drank some water, and went outside to stand for a while.
As expected, he saw Qu Guo’an who also couldn’t sleep, wandering outside.
“What, can’t sleep?”
Tang Zelin nodded, “You too?”
Qu Guo’an sighed, “I don’t know what it is, just not sleepy. Got a cigarette?”
“Yeah.”
“Give me one.”
Thanks to Su Shu’s space, since learning that it held a good supply of cigarettes, his pockets had never been empty.
He pulled out a cigarette and handed it to Qu Guo’an, and the two stood together, shrouded in smoke.
After a period of silence, Qu Guo’an spoke up: “Old Tang, why do you think I’ve been feeling so uneasy lately?”
Tang Zelin turned to him, “A bit worried?”
“Don’t laugh at me, but yeah, I am. Which son of a bitch came up with these things, scaring people to death? Isn’t it good to be alive? Anything would’ve been better to research than this.”
He went up front during the day and saw from a distance through binoculars the terrifying Alien creatures beneath the high walls of the base; his heart was still somewhat chilled.
Being a soldier, seeing so many Alien creatures in his life, he was at his wit’s end.
Originally, back in C City, he found even two to be frightening, but after coming to the Northern Border, those past scares were nothing but minor disturbances, hardly worth mentioning.
Now he understood why superiors had dispatched so many Special Combat Soldiers from various military regions to the Northern Border.
