Chapter 501 - Chapter 501 Chapter 502 How Could They Be Inside
Chapter 501: Chapter 502: How Could They Be Inside? Chapter 501: Chapter 502: How Could They Be Inside? Northern Border, the cold wind was biting.
Several Special Combat Teams stationed in the border area were struggling to hold their positions.
A member of the Wild Wolf Team dressed in camouflage lay in the grass, watching through the binoculars while taking two bites of tasty rations to quell his hunger.
“Gray Wolf, any movement up ahead?”
Over the communicator, Captain Yao Ke’s query came through.
Gray Wolf chuckled, took another glance through the lens, and responded, “All’s quiet, Boss, over.”
The members of the Wild Wolf Team resting in the back, cooking noodles in their tents, all laughed at the words: “Watch out, or a wolf might snatch you away; keep alert, or you won’t be around to enjoy the braised noodles.”
“Damn, don’t eat it all; leave some for me!” Gray Wolf’s mouth was practically watering.
Yao Ke took a rice bowl from a comrade, moved aside, looked at the map on the table, and said, “Keep a sharp eye on the situation up front. You’re next up for a shift. We still haven’t replenished our ammo, so don’t act rashly. For now, the creatures inside can’t crawl out.”
“Got it! Last thing, save a bag for me, over.”
“Hahaha!”
The teammates’ teasing voices transmitted through the earpiece.
Today, the front line wasn’t helmed by the Wild Wolves; they had stepped back to a second-line position, ready to act as reserves and replace the frontline Special Combat Teams if needed.
The scouting posts operated on a rotation.
The rest replenished their energy in the rear.
As Yao Ke was halfway through his noodles, the order came.
After hanging up the wireless phone, Yao Ke’s expression darkened, and he put down his bowl, “Stop eating; assemble!”
The Wild Wolf members hurriedly geared up and assembled, heading to the first-line positions.
When they reached the front line, Yao Ke met with Zhuang Yu, the captain of the Falcon Special Combat Team.
“You’re here?”
When Zhuang Yu saw him, there was no small talk. He took a monitor from one of the team members and handed it to Yao Ke.
“This is footage taken by a drone up ahead, take a look,” said Zhuang Yu.
Yao Ke adjusted his cap and looked down.
He hadn’t been alarmed until he looked, and the sight nearly startled him.
He lifted his head in surprise, “How can there be people in the testing base?!”
Zhuang Yu’s face was also grim, “Exactly, I have the same question as you, but the fact is as you see it. There are indeed people inside, and they have black hair and yellow skin, wearing our country’s military uniform.”
“How did they get in?”
“You’re asking me? How should I know? The problem now is that the drone has captured them, and the higher-ups have ordered us to somehow rescue these people.”
“Other units?”
“I’ve checked with the heads of the various Garrison Troops along the border; no one has gone in there on their own.”
Zhuang Yu paused, his eyes not hiding a touch of respect as he slightly curved the corners of his mouth, “However, for these few to venture so deep into such a perilous place, I’ve got to admit I’m a bit impressed!”
Yao Ke focused on the screen. Soldiers, women, children–the drone’s footage wasn’t clear.
From the footage, as the drone tried to descend for a clearer shot, those dozen or so people turned and re-entered the door.
After the door closed, all that could be seen on the screen were countless Alien Humanoids swarming toward the door.
They were attempting to break in from every corner, evidently having targeted those people as their prey.
Yao Ke returned the monitor to Zhuang Yu, “Alright, what’s the plan?”
“Hang on, the Tigers are almost here. Once they arrive, our three teams will move in together,” replied Zhuang Yu.
“Fine,” agreed Yao Ke.
