Chapter 1275: Chapter 526: Seeing a Fifth Order Awakener
"They’re the ones I’m looking for, have them come out to see me."
Wang Tao immediately said.
Among the 14 awakeners before him, none were the awakening member from Ocean Base he had seen before.
However, these awakeners were interesting in their own right; their attributes were exactly the same.
[HP: 100000/100000]
[Mana: 31200/31200]
[Level: Level 4]
[Internal Impurity: 80%]
[Awakening: Robust]
[Robust: All basic attributes slightly increased, Strength increased to a certain extent]
These attributes...Wang Tao could only say...they were weak, these were the weakest Fourth Order Awakeners he had ever seen.
Usually, System Awakeners would have the attribute "All basic attributes increase across the board," and some would also have additional increases in "Strength, Defense," and such.
But this "Robust" awakening merely mentioned "slightly" increased basic attributes, and Strength increased "to a certain extent"...plus, their HP and Mana values were very low...clearly, although these people were Awakeners, they were the bottom rung among Fourth Order Awakeners, at best only slightly more powerful than a Level 3 Ability User.
Moreover, the impurities within their bodies were excessive.
Normally, people who have just Ascended would not possess such a high level of impurities. After Ascension, the impurities in the body are supposed to reduce by half. Yet, their attributes indicated they had just Ascended not long ago, so how did they reach 80%? Could it be that before their Ascension, they were at 160%? That’s impossible; they would have turned into zombies at 100%...
Unless, after their Ascension, they had merged with a large number of White Crystal Cores, but who would be foolish enough to do that?
Obviously, the high level of impurities within these people was abnormal.
"My friend, what’s your honorable surname? Which base do you come from?"
The slightly overweight middle-aged man didn’t directly respond but instead asked with a smile.
"Wang Tao, Changhe Base."
Wang Tao didn’t hide anything.
"Changhe Base..."
The slightly overweight middle-aged man exchanged looks with a few others, all frowning; they evidently hadn’t heard of this name. When had Ocean Base gotten such an ally?
His reaction surprised Wang Tao a bit, which indicated that this person might have heard about other bases...could it be that there were other bases nearby?
The middle-aged man didn’t inquire further; he again displayed a friendly smile.
"Hello, Mr. Wang, I am Hu Zhe, the Vice Head of Mammoth Base..."
Hu Zhe paused for a moment. He was expecting Wang Tao to say "Hello, Head Hu," but Wang Tao remained silent...it was as if Wang Tao didn’t take him seriously at all!
Hu Zhe was angry inside, his facial expression somewhat stiff. However, evidently proficient in maintaining his composure, he took a deep breath and continued,
"Mr. Wang, you might have misunderstood. The people you’re referring to are no longer from Ocean Base; they are now with Mammoth Base. You can’t just ask for people from Mammoth Base to come out and see you with just one sentence...that’s not proper, is it? And you should also ask if they’re willing? They’re living well within the base; they can’t just run out because of a stranger’s word! If they did that, they wouldn’t have anything else to do but keep running out all the time, right?"
Hu Zhe’s words were quite reasonable, and combined with his kind-looking face, it unintentionally gave people comfort.
But Wang Tao wasn’t buying it; he went straight to the point:
"Just have them come out. As long as they say they joined you voluntarily, I’ll leave immediately."
Watching as Wang Tao remained obdurate, Hu Zhe’s expression finally cooled.
"Mr. Wang, on what basis? Why should they come over just because you say so? You have no affiliation with them, and they are Awakeners too...that’s unreasonable!"
Wang Tao’s expression was unchanged as he continued,
"Because they sent me a rescue message, saying they were dying. They still consider themselves members of Ocean Base and asked for our aid. As an ally of Ocean Base, I’m duty-bound to investigate the situation."
Upon hearing the words "rescue message," Hu Zhe’s pupils shrank.
"What rescue message? I don’t understand what you’re talking about! It’s pointless to make up these things; it seems...you’re here deliberately looking for trouble! If that’s the case, don’t blame us for not providing hospitality!"
The slightly overweight middle-aged man beckoned, and the other Awakeners immediately surrounded Wang Tao and his companion with ill intent.
Facing the potential imminent attack, Wang Tao remained utterly calm.
He even had the composure to touch the enforcement recorder on his chest, aiming the lens at everyone.
Gu Yun had previously informed Wang Tao that for the sake of Changhe Base’s reputation, this mission had to be justified. After all, Mammoth Base had three thousand survivors; it was important to let them know that Changhe Base was a place of reason...that’s why Wang Tao had been so polite and also specifically brought an enforcement recorder to ensure his justified cause.
Now, it seemed the objective had been accomplished.
"Mr. Wang, in consideration that we are all survivors struggling in the Apocalypse, I’ll remind you one last time. Those few people have nothing to do with Ocean Base, they belong to Mammoth Base now, and they didn’t send any rescue messages, because they’re living well in the base, no need for you to worry! So, if you’re here to visit, I warmly welcome you, but if you’re here to cause trouble, then don’t blame us for not being polite! We from Mammoth Base are not to be trifled with!"
Hu Zhe said coldly.
If it were someone else, he wouldn’t have wasted so many words, and would have just captured them. But Wang Tao was too composed, his composure making Hu Zhe uncertain...
