AnalogHorror: Rule Kaidan 4016 -
Chapter 74 - 74 Listing Remarks
74: Listing Remarks 74: Listing Remarks 0:00 I’ve been coding since then and now it’s past 4:00.
After deleting three times, I finally typed out the first VIP chapter with quite a bit of difficulty, and now I specifically come to write down my thoughts about the book launch.
First, let’s talk about this book.
It’s a niche genre within the cool and mysterious category… A rules-based horror story, emmm… how should I put it, it’s like I maxed out the debuff right from the start of the book, but I thought about this point when I was planning the book.
Although I’ve written millions of words in the fantasy xianxia genre, it’s always been lukewarm, and each time I create a thrilling point, I feel like I’m being pushed by the plot instead of me pushing the plot, and I’ve been puzzled by this for a long time.
I’ve thought about the reasons, and it’s mostly because I can’t resist thinking about some “logical” aspects that would be laughable if spoken out loud.
Of course, I also can’t rule out that I’m just writing poorly in the fantasy xianxia genre.
By a chance encounter, I learned about horror stories, and then, while listening to Fox Tail’s live stream lesson, I found out about the “Cthulhu” style and went out of my way to read Love for Craftsmanship’s “The Call of C X thulhu” (I’m not sure if I can type this out so I omitted a letter).
To be honest, only those who have read the original can vaguely appreciate what that “Cthulhu” horror is like.
Then, I looked up some horror stories on the internet, and I found… cough cough, let’s insert that mysterious smile of Principal Wang reviewing certain Han’s acting skills.jpg.
My first reaction was: Bro, what are you writing?
Wrapping it in a horror story skin, turning on a god mode and ignoring the rules, are you writing for pleasure?
A suspense horror story about the rules, come on!
Can’t you apply your heart and write something interesting?
It’s precisely because there were no books to read, so I started writing myself.
Before I started, it was during Mo Fangju’s vacation, and he specially came to Suzhou to visit me.
I shared this idea with him and got a lot of feedback from Mo Fangju in the early stages of drafting the student code of conduct.
So, I want to thank Mo Fangju first.
I said I’d give it a try to test the waters, and if it wasn’t bad, I’d coax, I mean invite, him into this rules-based horror story pit too.
My initial thought was very pure; no matter the market, I wanted to create a rules-based horror story with some Cthulhu horror elements for the love of it.
After I set the preliminary rules, I wrote a beginning and showed it to Night Snack.
After reading it, he said, “You can write it, but the trend has passed.”
I saw “you can write it” and automatically ignored “the trend has passed” because all I needed to know was that I could write it.
I told Night Snack that for this book, I would just write one complete horror story.
If the response was not good after finishing it, then it would be a complete story either way.
If it went well, there would naturally be a follow-up part.
Regarding the follow-up part, besides S City University, I actually had some other settings in mind, but since I was not sure whether everyone would like it, I didn’t plan the details of those horror stories, I just fleshed out the logic chain for “S City University” to make it a closed loop.
Then, I started writing the book.
Oh, by the way, because the entire code of conduct’s logic was something I had to come up with from scratch, the whole process was really difficult; I had no one to refer to (at least as far as I knew, I had seen zoo horror stories, but frankly, they were very limited help in constructing my logic chain).
So, in the end, it took me about a month to hammer out the initial logic chain, and then after continuous discussions with Mo Fangju, it took over two months to complete logic chain 1.0.
I remember it was in August.
Then bit by bit, I finished the entire logic chain, roughly by September before I started writing the actual text.
After more revisions, I published the book in October.
Actually, I was very busy in October, busy with all sorts of things, but I had told Night Snack I’d launch the book on September 1st, haha… It got dragged until October, and seeing that the October holiday had passed, I steeled my heart and decided to put some pressure on myself.
The thing is, folks, if you don’t push yourself, you really won’t make any progress.
After the book was published, I was actually very nervous, wondering if it would turn from “producing for love” to “truly producing for love.”
Haha… I dispelled that thought after a fleeting moment because I had confidence.
A closed loop of logic, just throwing all the rules onto the internet could create a bunch of analysis posts.
Not to mention how fun (and thrilling) it would be when I turned it into a story.
At worst, if no one read it after I finished, I could still see if I could make it into short videos or something…
Then I published the book!
After the book was released, to my surprise, there were quite a few people who liked it.
Comments from the readers were often one or two hundred words long; I really kept a forced smile the whole time and gradually felt motivated to write every day.
In this process, I created a reader group and watched as the members grew from 1 to over 60.
Although it’s a small group, everyone is highly engaged, discussing the plot and rules every day, which makes me feel accomplished.
Here, I want to thank all the readers for their support, kudos to you all Orz!!!!
Now about the results.
The current figures are 5000 collections and over 300 followers.
I’m not sure how the launch data looks, and although it’s less compared to other categories, for some reason, I feel like if I don’t mess it up, it can achieve good results… so, I’ll keep trying.
(Whispering: Although there are only over 300 followers since launch, I am so greedy that I still want to aim for a premium rank, that is, an average of 3000, haha… It seems a bit unrealistic because around 300 followers would mean an average order of 300…)
Anyway, I’m just going to keep on writing, writing, and more writing… focusing on finishing the story, and I’ll leave the rest to you, dear readers.
I nearly forgot…
Thanks to the two giants who recommended my chapters—White Crow, the whitest crow, whose status is so high that I’m too embarrassed to promote his book… I can only say that I’ll repay the kindness like a spring returning the favor of a single drop, deeply grateful to Crow giant.
Another giant is Rabbit, a rabbit from the Middle Ages, whose status is also way beyond me… here, I can only be equally grateful +2…
And thanks to Empress Vila for her help, kneeling in gratitude +3…
Finally, let’s talk about updates.
The base guarantee on Qidian is 4000 words per day, but since I aim for premium quality, I definitely won’t be content with just that, so I’ll try to update with more words daily.
Although I’ve never tried writing 10,000 words a day, so I can’t guarantee how much improvement there will be, I can only promise to increase the update volume bit by bit, and you just wait and see.
Also, if there’s an Alliance Hierarch, I won’t do anything meaningless about how much I’ll add to the updates, I’ll go straight to the number of words, okay?
For each Alliance Hierarch, I’ll add an extra 10,000 words, and I’ll try to update it within a week (sob sob sob, I’m talking about you, Meow, an unexpected Alliance Hierarch was both shocking and delightful)!
All right… Charge on!!!
I hope everyone likes this story, and we’ll… see you at the complete book celebration!
