Chapter 61 - 61 29 Being Watched
61: Chapter 29: Being Watched 61: Chapter 29: Being Watched After being drawn away by Wei Liang, Lin Yi blended into the queueing crowd.
“Old Lin, let me tell you, the food in this cafeteria is really good.
There are some dishes that are must-haves.
Let me recommend a few…”, the voice of Wei Liang slowly came.
As he blended into the crowd, Lin Yi noticed that the discomfort that had enveloped him earlier had slightly subsided.
Despite this, he still felt as if he was struggling to walk through a quagmire, always feeling something grabbing at his feet,
He followed Wei Liang towards the food counter, but when he looked at Wei Liang, he incredibly felt a discomfort coming from him.
This feeling was as fine as a thread, yet exceptionally clear, just like a strand of egg white in clean water, a shift from zero to one.
Lin Yi paused, but immediately realized something, a chill rising in his heart: “Something’s wrong with Liangzi!”
He looked at Wei Liang, who, at that moment, was still promoting the cafeteria’s special dishes to him.
There were a few dishes, and after having them last time, they left him craving for more, and he was determined to eat more this time.
“It looks like there’s no problem…” Lin Yi stared at Wei Liang’s back, his eyebrows gradually furrowing, “but there definitely is a problem!”
He examined Wei Liang from top to bottom and suddenly noticed an inconspicuous dark red viscous stain on Wei Liang’s shoes.
“Eh?
Is that…tomato sauce?!”
Lin Yi’s eyes brightened, but then his scalp went numb, and that chill in his heart instantly turned into a flow of air rushing up from his apical bone, almost causing his blood pressure to become unbalanced!
“But when did Liangzi get tomato sauce on him?”
He was puzzled, but suddenly a light bulb went off, and he quickly realized—
“It was that kick!”
“Liangzi just kicked that guy wearing the green apron!”
“So, did it get on him from his face?”
“But that guy’s face was covered in white foundation, where did the tomato sauce come from?”
The image of the green apron chef started to appear in Lin Yi’s mind, but he immediately shook his head, breaking the memory and dispersing the emerging picture as if shaking water off one’s hands.
He felt a wave of fear—You shouldn’t think about such things where there’s no sunlight!
He then looked at Wei Liang’s foot, finally confirming that only one of Wei Liang’s shoes had gotten a bit of tomato sauce from stepping on the green apron chef, while the other shoe was still perfectly clean.
He finally breathed a sigh of relief, “Now that I’ve found the problem, it can be handled.”
Without delay, he planned to talk to Wei Liang immediately, but just then, the student in front of Wei Liang finished ordering, and it was Wei Liang’s turn next.
Wei Liang stepped forward, extended a hand, gestured over the glass window at the dishes on the tray, “Auntie, please give me some of this dish, this one, this one… and this one too, thanks!”
The Cafeteria Auntie skillfully wielded her spoon to serve the food, then, right in front of Wei Liang, she executed every cafeteria auntie’s lock-down skill “Soul Three Tosses Spoon”, leaving just three pieces of crispy bone on a full spoon of meat, neatly setting it on the tray.
This maneuver left Wei Liang’s twitching, but considering that a meal untouched by the spoon lacked soul, he still mustered a smile, took the tray, and moved to the card scanner.
“Oh right…” Just as Wei Liang was about to swipe his card, he suddenly turned back stylishly, showing his profile and then with a cool glance at Lin Yi, said, “Almost forgot, there’s a knack to swiping cards in the cafeteria.”
At this, Wei Liang stumbled because he saw that Lin Yi was not looking at him.
“Hey I say!
Old Lin, Old Lin, Old Lin…”
“Huh?” Lin Yi, who was examining the day’s dishes, was caught off guard, “What, what?”
Wei Liang then repeated what he just said and added: “Since the cafeteria rules state not to let Student ID cards be seen in public, I came up with this method to swipe—”
“Watch closely, Old Lin, I’ll only teach this once!”
Wei Liang, laughing, reached into his trousers… near that pocket, and in an overly showy gesture, took out his Student ID card, and like a dragonfly skimming the water, lightly swiped the card through the machine.
It was as if the legendary Wandering Swordsman had sliced through the night sky with his blade, a sound of hasaki echoing through the air.
As Wei Liang withdrew the blade, all eyes were on him.
The air suddenly quieted, the atmosphere momentarily solidifying.
Even the imposing Wei Liang could feel a hint of an awkward atmosphere, so he placed his student ID card away, adjusting the brim of his cap slightly.
“Beep—”
The card scanner emitted a crisp sound, breaking the awkward silence, and the display on the card scanner immediately showed a line of text:
“Name: Wei?…”
“Student ID: X023?96.”
Wei Liang cleared his throat, pressed to confirm, then casually took a box of free milk provided next to the card scanner, saying to Lin Yi: “Old Lin, I’ll go find a seat, you take your time!”
Saying so, he attempted to squeeze through the crowd, escaping the awkward atmosphere.
But just as Lin Yi was about to let him go, he remembered the issue with the tomato sauce and quickly called out to him: “Hold on, Liangzi, wait for me, I have something to tell you!”
“Oh come on, not a big deal, I’ll talk to you later!” Wei Liang, holding his tray, wished he could bury his face in it, then squeezed through the gaps in the crowd to escape.
But as he took a step, a sinewy chill suddenly wound up his foot like a venomous snake, causing his step to abruptly stiffen.
