Chapter 49 - 49 23 I am the Homeroom Teacher
49: Chapter 23 [I am the Homeroom Teacher] 49: Chapter 23 [I am the Homeroom Teacher] The sculpture resembling Little Genius was already severely damaged.
This kind of damage didn’t look like someone had first sculpted the statue based on the body of Little Genius and then damaged it afterward.
It looked more like some kind of beast had mauled the body of Little Genius, and then someone replicated the statue from that state.
But who would make such a sculpture?!
A sculpture modeled after a corpse?
What kind of twisted mind would do such a thing?
At that moment, although he was in the sunlight, Lin Yi still felt a strong chill and discomfort deep inside him.
Memories from the previous night began to attack him…
After Little Genius had died, he was dragged away by a classmate…
The screams of classmates, who had seen either the body of Little Genius or the other students, were continuous…
Then he avoided being captured by that classmate…
Some time passed, and a security guard passed through the classroom, taking away an unknown creature…
“When the lights in the classroom came back on, those odd students had all returned to their seats, and some normal students had vanished along with the body of Little Genius…”
“Hmph,” Lin Yi smacked his lips, unable to understand the problem.
Just as he decided to temporarily give up thinking about this problem and proceed to organize the second clue, Wei Liang returned with a stack of comic books.
Lin Yi glanced at him and suddenly noticed a bit of white powder on his shoes.
He said, “Hey?
Liangzi, why is there plaster powder on your shoe?”
Wei Liang startled, set down the comic books, and looked at his foot, frowning, “Eh?
That’s really strange, I have no idea where I stepped on it, wait a minute let me check…”
He turned, puzzled, retraced his steps, then came back and said, “Found it, found it!”
He pointed at the ground.
“Look, there’s a patch of plaster powder here, I don’t know who spilled it, but it’s spread all over the ground!”
“Let me see.” Lin Yi followed Wei Liang’s pointing, and saw an indistinct trail of plaster powder on the stairs of the amphitheater classroom, as if someone had dragged a broken plaster bag through the room.
Lin Yi quickly stood up and followed the trail of plaster powder around, and finally found its starting point—
The desk area.
Lin Yi looked towards the start of the plaster trail, standing shocked in his place as his pupils shrank to the size of pinpoints!
Right at the spot where he remembered Little Genius had hidden, a large patch of plaster powder had inexplicably appeared!
Not only that, but even the desk where he hid yesterday and the desk surface had faint traces of plaster powder!
“These trails of plaster powder…
they mark the route where Little Genius’s body was dragged!”
He looked along the path in the opposite direction, seeing the plaster powder continuing all the way to the lecturer’s podium, and then…
it disappeared.
“Little Genius’s body was taken to the podium by a student, and then it vanished!”
Traces of plaster powder throughout the classroom…
Broken sculpture pieces in front of the podium…
The statue resembling Little Genius’s body in the Green Forest Belt outside the Teaching Building…
Lin Yi’s mind feverishly spun these three clues together, feeling a strong connection among them.
But it was like the most crucial area of a spider’s web was hidden; no matter how much he thought, he couldn’t link these clues together.
“Last night, something even more significant happened!
It related to the truth of this matter…”
“But I can’t know, nor can I explore, unless…
I fucking want to die.”
Identifying a problem, considering it, and recklessly probing are fundamentally different.
Lin Yi did not want to die; he just wanted to understand some logic of survival and then manage to stay alive.
But the more he realized this, the bigger he perceived the problem to be.
It was like a person walking on a road, noticing a mountain on the horizon from afar, but only upon approaching realizing there was a vast range of mountains ahead.
“So, found anything?” Wei Liang came over and asked.
Lin Yi looked at him, nodded, and then said, “I found something, but I can’t tell you.”
Instead of being upset, Wei Liang was happy, “That’s good then!
It looks like you’re having a productive day!
I’ll just continue reading comics then, won’t disturb you.”
“Thinking about problems in the sunlight is indeed nice.” Lin Yi nodded, “Don’t hurry off, wait for me!”
Lin Yi was the one by the window, so Wei Liang had to let him settle in first.
Lin Yi returned to his seat, looking out the window again.
The statue of Little Genius was still there.
“Still there…” For some reason, Lin Yi felt a sense of relief seeing that the statue was still there.
Then he redirected his thoughts and began to write the second point on his paper:
“2.
The homeroom teacher seems off, but I can’t pinpoint where.”
“Be careful around the homeroom teacher, her eyes turn yellow.”
As he wrote, Lin Yi looked at a crumpled but neatly folded piece of paper in his hands.
It was a scrap he had picked up from the classroom office.
“Xu Shunkang said it was fine to think about problems during the day, I was planning to check this paper in the dormitory…”
Lin Yi sat in the chair, the warm sunlight pouring through the window covering him like a layer of gold.
He looked down at the piece of paper he was twisting at his fingertips, and after some thought, he decided to open it now while he had the chance.
