41: Chapter 19 Supplementary Notes 41: Chapter 19 Supplementary Notes “Whoosh— Whoosh—”
A breeze caressed the light mist, rippling like waves across a vast sea, as Lin Yi heard the sound of waves by his ear.
But at that moment, the fresh air suddenly turned ice-cold, as though an icy spring attempted to invade Lin Yi’s mouth and nose, sending a bone-chilling cold assaulting his senses.
Lin Yi saw thin mist flowing into the classroom like dry ice dissipating, covering the floor tiles with a layer of frost.
“Lin Yi…”
“Lin Yi.”
“Lin Yi!”
He suddenly heard a faint, ethereal voice amidst the sound of the waves, ceaselessly calling his name…
He squinted his eyes, instinctively wanting to look towards the direction of the voice, yet a subconscious will suppressed his movement.
While he struggled against himself, a hand heavily landed on his shoulder.
“What are you staring at, so intently?”
Wei Liang’s voice, like an axe, cleaved through the waves that enveloped Lin Yi, then swiftly yanked him out, dropping him back onto his chair.
Lin Yi plopped onto the chair, his entire weight leaning on the backrest, causing a row of chairs to wobble.
He snapped back to reality, tactically leaning back, and took in a deep breath.
This time, without asking Wei Liang, he also knew what had happened; he hadn’t expected that, despite being vigilant since the classroom lights had flickered, in the end, he had almost capsized in a gutter!
“Liangzi, how did I look just now?” he asked.
“If you were dozing off, you might have fallen over and then woken up, right?”
“Surely you wouldn’t have stood sleeping, would you?”
Wei Liang said with disdain, “You were almost standing asleep!
“You were staring at the classroom door the whole time, even after I heard the door close, and didn’t see you sit down until I came to call you.”
“Then I found you swaying, staring at the door incessantly, but with a very hollow look in your eyes, as if you had lost your soul.”
Lin Yi gasped, “Liangzi, I owe you one again this time!”
Wei Liang waved it off, “Ah, just happened to be!
But indeed, this night has been tough on you, try to get some sleep early tonight!”
“Yeah.” Lin Yi nodded, then looked down at his watch.
5:16.
“Just as I thought…
over ten minutes have passed, just like when searching for the streetlamp.”
He looked around.
After the odd group of classmates left, there were only about ten normal students remaining in the classroom.
Lin Yi seriously recollected.
He looked down, scanning the classroom floor tiles, then ignoring Wei Liang’s puzzled gaze, he rushed to the desk area in front of the bookshelf, where he found the desk he had been hiding under.
The scratches on the desk leg were still there, and there was a slight dent on the surface from knocks, but neither the desk’s surface nor the floor tiles had a trace of blood!
That classmate’s old-style sneakers had splashes of blood on them, he even dragged away Little Genius’s body, but why was there not a single drop of blood to be found in the classroom?
Little Genius’s body was gone.
But he remembered clearly that no one had left!
“Could they have left the classroom when I wasn’t aware?”
He had pretended to read through three volumes of “Ikkitousen” in silence, to throw off that classmate’s attention; he had no memory of those three plus hours.
The only possibility was that the classmates had left during that time.
“But if that’s the case, why did they leave despite the class monitor’s warning?”
The Teaching Building’s rules stipulated that the departure time was after 7:40 the next day; leaving before that was a violation of the rules.
From what had happened to him and Wei Liang, adhering to the rules indeed seemed to be the safest option.
“What about Little Genius then?”
Little Genius was definitely killed, that classmate even had the gear that had burst out of Little Genius.
Lin Yi didn’t understand, but he wasn’t going to force understanding at this point.
He stacked all the comic books together, then took out the small notebook, flipping to the page with “4:30” and “light” written on it.
He tore out this page, and then turned the small notebook to the section where the first notes were written.
The current notes are:
[1, Teachers and students in the misty weather have issues, heard it’s the Art Teacher and Art Students.
2, It’s safe under lit streetlamps; if lost, wait under a streetlamp, and it really is possible to meet a Security Guard.
3, Security Guards are taller than normal people, with a huge iron chain wrapped around their waist.
Following a Security Guard allows one to walk in the mist.
4, The Teaching Building has a basement…?
(This line is crossed out.)
4, The class monitor has a white acrylic badge on his chest with “Group B Class 2” written on it.
My name is Lin Yi, student ID is X0230506098.
5, The Sports Student seems to be a good person.
6, To use the toilet, one must firmly believe there’s a toilet in front of them.
(Could a firm belief be the key to survival?)
Note: Playing dumb seems to work too.
7, Be wary of those whose smile you can tell is fake; they have issues.]
He thought for a while and began adding to the notes:
“8, Adhering to the rules is the most important means of self-protection!”
After writing, he underlined it, then suddenly thought of something, rubbing out “seems to” in the fifth item “The Sports Student seems to be a good person,” and added:
“Trust what the Sports Student says.”
“Even if they call you an idiot.” This phrase Lin Yi muttered in his heart, of course, he didn’t write it down.
And…
“Trust what the class monitor says.”
“9, Night self-study…”
Lin Yi wanted to write about the odd classmates, classroom lights, and reading comics, but to elaborate on this would be too cumbersome.
So, he considered carefully, first eliminating the part about the odd classmates.
