Chapter 118: Lance’s thought
Chapter 118: Lance’s thought
Back at the second-year section, Treshan and Louis walked toward a training room. Without knocking, they pushed the massive door open.
Boom!
The first sound they heard was a massive explosion, and at the center of it was a boy in black combat clothes. His neck-length white hair fluttered from the blast.
In his hand was a training scythe. His eyes were sharp, and there was a crazy smile on his face.
"Is that the best you can do, Amelia?" he yelled at the girl standing on the opposite side. She had fiery red hair and eyes, and in her hand was a staff with a large red crystal on it.
"Don’t forget about me!" another girl ran from behind. She leaped into the air and swung her sword, putting all her strength into the strike.
The white-haired boy moved to block the attack, but the sword suddenly vanished. His danger signal went off, and he immediately retreated as fast as he could.
And right as he did, multiple slashes appeared on the ground where he had stood. She didn’t stop there. She planted her feet into the ground and charged in faster.
"That’s good, Ella, but you forget I’m not that easy to throw off," the boy said and spun his scythe before shooting forward as well.
Their weapons clashed, and it was as if a bomb had gone off. Ella was pushed back several steps while the boy stood firm.
Amelia took that as her opportunity and pointed her staff. The crystal lit up and a small fist-sized fireball formed. Though it looked small, it was heavily compressed.
She fired the attack, and it shot through the air like a rocket. Yet she didn’t stop there, immediately following it with four ice lances.
The white-haired boy didn’t panic despite the attack. He charged toward it, his body began glowing white. He slashed the fireball; it exploded and destroyed all the ice lances as well.
He didn’t stop there. Moving through the explosion and toward Amelia, he only stopped when his scythe was near her neck.
"Another win, I guess," he said casually. She frowned and clicked her tongue.
"I couldn’t use better spells because the training room couldn’t handle them," she said.
"Actually, you would have still lost, Amelia. Riker possesses immense speed, and your stronger spells need more time to cast. He’ll stop you before you can," Louis said, finally pulling their attention.
"I’ll be there to slow him down for her to attack," Ella said, walking toward them.
"Louis, Treshan. Since both of you are here, then I’m guessing you’ve dealt with the issue," Riker said with a smile.
"It didn’t go well. From the looks of it, the top rankers of the first years are not willing to punish their mates because they believe the wrong belonged to Rion," Louis said.
"Of course it does. It all belongs to him, but that doesn’t mean we’ll allow them to get away with it now, does it? What exactly did their rank one say?" he asked.
"He said the best he can do is to warn Class C, but he won’t punish them, and he’s ready to go to war about it," Louis said and adjusted his glasses.
"And he wasn’t speaking alone. It seemed all the top ten of the first years shared that resolve—all but one," Louis added.
"Hmmm? Who?"
"The one blessed by Lumis—Lance," Louis said. "I feel there’s a way for us to use him. Rather than outright fight the first years, we can use him to get into the first years and cause havoc. He’s the second-ranked, after all."
"If Lance couldn’t be the first rank, then the first rank must be very strong. Shouldn’t we watch out for him?" Amelia asked.
"He is strong. I could feel it from him. But we’ll handle the kid. You can leave him to me," Treshan said.
"Hmmm. These first years seem to not know how this academy works. Their feelings and wants are not taken into account in situations like this.
I can’t allow my juniors to do whatever they want, and since they want to battle it out, I’ll make sure to make all of them suffer," Riker said.
Suddenly, the door of the training room opened and Lance walked in. The five were surprised to see him come here, but they were also intrigued to know why he was here.
"Seniors," he said while bowing his head.
"And to what do we owe a visit from the Chosen One?" Riker asked, walking up to Lance.
"I want to help—help you all make the first years bend their knees to your will," he said. His words shocked them. Here they were, planning on how they would use him, and here he was offering himself for free.
Riker smiled when he heard that. "And why would you want to do that? How do we know you aren’t here to sabotage us?" Riker asked.
"Because I want to take the seat of rank one in the first year from Riven. And if you promise to help me, I promise to help you out and make sure you win.
That Riven doesn’t deserve the seat of first. It’s mine. I should be the one leading, not him. Yet somehow he is on it and not me," Lance said.
"Hmm, I like it—your pride, your ego. That’s what a man needs to push forward. You want something? You take it.
I’ll accept this offer of yours, but be warned: the moment you try to double-cross me, even the blessing of the goddess will not save you from me," Riker said.
"Yes, I understand," Lance responded.
’You are just a tool for me to get rank one. You think you’ll use me? Nah, I’ll use all of you to get what I want and finally rule this academy—because this is my story. I’m the hero. I’m the one who is supposed to be above it all,’ Lance thought.
