Chapter 64: Chapter 60

As emails were sent out from the backend of Price’s List, many people surfing the internet in the university town received this message.

"A row house on Erie Street for only $650 a month? Oh~ that looks nice." Francis, who was recently planning to move out of campus, noticed the deal. He was already a junior and now had the right to do so.

If it weren’t for the university’s rule that freshmen and sophomores had to live in school dormitories, Francis would have moved out of campus on the first day of school.

He was from New York on the East Coast. His father was a doctor and his mother a high school teacher; his family’s financial situation was typical of the elite class.

Therefore, the price of $650 was nothing more than ordinary to Francis, he didn’t care how much the rent was. What mattered to him was the chance to move to the bustling Erie Street, which was the prime location in Cleveland. No crime, no violence, no niggers, and even from the street corner, Francis could see the vast Lake Erie.

Just thinking about being able to stroll by the lake in 5 minutes during his free time excited Francis greatly. He clicked the link in his email and the webpage transitioned in a few seconds.

Following the prompt and clicking on "I want to see the house," a phone number popped up. "Good, the phone’s already reserved in advance, and I can see the house anytime?" Without another word, Francis picked up the phone and dialed the contact information displayed on the screen.

...

"Mike, there’s a part-time cashier job at a warehouse, you wanna give it a try?" Tom, after seeing the email notification, turned to ask his roommate if he was considering it.

He knew Mike’s family situation was average at best, with three younger siblings and nothing but a divorced mother to shoulder the burden of raising the family.

Mike had always been looking for the right part-time job, one that wasn’t too busy and wouldn’t affect his classes, but could barely cover his living expenses. If he could save up enough for part of next year’s tuition, that would be perfect.

"Tom, where is the job? How much is the hourly wage?" Mike, who was lying on his bed reading a book, immediately got up at the question.

"Cleveland Port," Tom pointed to the screen as he explained, "As you know, there are lots of warehouses there. This company, the Kyle Brothers Logistics, needs someone to count their inventory twice a week. As for pay, it’s about $7 to $12 an hour. The specific compensation must be discussed in person, but they say if you’re interested, you can call them."

$7 to $12 an hour? Mike’s eyes lit up, "Sounds good, the convenience store job sure won’t pay that much?"

"Yeah~" Tom nodded in agreement, "Maybe because this job requires some basic math. You know, you can’t expect those jobless bums on the streets to sort out spreadsheets, that takes some knowledge."

"Right, I think I’ll give it a shot." Mike was quite confident in his math skills and felt he could handle the job. "By the way, where did you find this job ad?"

"Price’s List, look..." Tom scrolled through the webpage, "Besides jobs, there’s also housing rentals, item trades, even car repairs."

"Wow, I thought Price’s List only had a section for seeking companions of the opposite sex." Mike was curious to see the site’s increasingly rich content.

"Ha~ha~ the section for seeking companions does offer special services," Tom said with a mischievous smile, "but you’ll have to find that out for yourself, Price’s List hasn’t set up a dedicated trading area for them yet."

"Maybe we could give them some suggestions."

"Exactly, that would be the democratic way to do it."

"But, are these services all free?" Mike pointed at the job ad on the screen, "I mean, I can directly contact Kyle Brothers Logistics without paying any fees to the site?"

"No need!" Tom replied with certainty, "On the homepage, click the disclaimer section. Price’s List promises that their services will always be free for regular users!"

"Cool~ That’s a great decision!" Mike admired Price’s List’s approach, reminiscent of a non-profit organization’s dedication.

"Given that it’s free, I’m willing to introduce this interesting site to my friends." Tom had a good impression of Price’s List, primarily because it was free.

...

"Hello, is this Rent Cheap Company?" Jerry sat at his desk, phone wedged between his shoulder and ear while his hands never stopped moving, sorting through the files on his desk.

"Price’s List?" Jerry looked confused, then quickly caught on. "Yes, that apartment is up for rent by us."

"Sir, you want to see the house? Of course, that’s no problem, you can set the time, we’re available anytime. ...Tomorrow? No problem, how about ten in the morning?... OK, then see you tomorrow." After hanging up the phone, Benjamin blinked. Mother F*cker! That Price’s List thing seems to really f*cking work.

Ding-a-ling~ Before Jerry could react, the phone on his desk rang again.

"Hello, is this Rent Cheap Company?... Price’s List? Of course, that’s our Rent Cheap’s exclusive channel, specially serving quality customers like you... Erie Street house? Miss, that house was just reserved by someone to see tomorrow, but we have other housing resources in the same area if you’re interested..."

Two minutes later, Jerry hung up the phone, disbelieving. He had spent just $40 on an ad he had no high hopes for, only to receive two targeted calls within half an hour.

The effect was f*cking better than TV ads, and those cost thousands of dollars! No, maybe he should give that young man named Dean a call to discuss the matter of advertising properly.

Then Jerry reached out for the phone, but it started ringing before he could touch it.

"Oh~Shit! No way." Jerry answered the phone, half believing and half doubting.

"Price’s List, right?" Jerry cautiously initiated.

"Uh... yes, I saw it said you offer various types of rooms? So, I wanted to ask if you have any warehouses for rent?"

"Warehouses?" Jerry was taken aback.

"No? That’s fine, I didn’t really get my hopes up. I was just asking..."

"Wait a moment, sir, let me just confirm something." Jerry covered the phone and turned to his assistant Lorena. "Didn’t Robert recently take on a batch of storage properties?"

After getting a nod of confirmation from her, Jerry immediately responded over the phone. "Hello sir, Cheap Rent not only offers housing services, we also manage properties with functional buildings such as warehouses..."

A few minutes later, another unexpected deal was made. The first thing Jerry did after hanging up was to instruct his assistant, "Lorena, send another ten, no! This time fifty! Choose fifty idle properties, then send the information to them. Tell the people at Price’s List that I want to see our advertisement on the webpage today!"

...

"Dean, the backend shows that 60% of people clicked on our ad link from their emails. Of those, 40% got the advertiser’s contact information on the website!" Simon, who had been sitting in front of the computer monitoring data, shared the exciting news with Dean.

"That’s great!" Dean hugged Ophelia beside him and took a whiff of her tender skin, which made him feel aroused. "Look, ladies, your hard work just now has been recognized by the users. The emails you edited have aroused most people’s interest."

Ophelia and Alisa both nodded with smiles on their faces. They liked seeing the boys spirited. Especially knowing they were part of the reason, it was indeed a cause for happiness.

Sitting on Dean’s lap, Ophelia was even more enchanted by his charm; the hard thing beneath her was becoming a bit much to handle, and soon it would be her birthday...

"Ophelia, call that Italian restaurant on Erie Street later and reserve a spot. Today we need to properly celebrate this special day," Dean said, half-reclining on a beanbag chair, thoroughly enjoying the massage from the girl’s posterior.

"No problem," Ophelia agreed, her face blushing as she nodded.

But before she got up to make the call, the phone on the desk rang first.

Simon picked up the phone without hesitation, "Cheap Rent? Yes, this is Price’s List... Fifty listings?!... No, no problem, I guarantee they will be on the website before the midnight bell rings."

"Simon?" Dean straightened up after catching bits and pieces of the conversation.

"F*ck! Dean, fifty ads! Cheap Rent just sent over another fifty ads!" After hanging up the phone, Simon jumped up.

"Oh~Shit!" Dean picked up Ophelia and happily spun around, "So business is coming in, right?"

"Yeah~" Everyone was very excited. Two hundred US dollars wasn’t much, but it was undoubtedly a good start.

"However, unfortunately, it seems we can’t go to that Italian restaurant because the Cheap Group wants the ads online today." Simon looked out the window somewhat regretfully. It was already afternoon, and they didn’t have much time left.

"Never mind," Ophelia was the first to comfort everyone, "I think creating ad copy by hand and then posting it online is also quite cool."

"Absolutely," Alisa said with a smile of agreement, "we can celebrate tomorrow too~"

"With the ladies showing such dedication, we have to work even harder," Dean clenched his fist and looked at Simon.

"Of course, I’ve got so much energy I don’t know where to put it," Simon gave Alisa a mischievous grin.

"F*ck you, Simon!" Alisa flipped him the bird.

Laughter filled the dorm, the air buzzing with a lively atmosphere.
