Chapter 238: Chapter 232 Jealousy
"Dean, should I also buy some stock in Byte Company?"
Seeing the gathering of celebrities here, Hillary felt a bit of an itch to join in.
Although she was a partner at a law firm, her annual salary didn’t exceed two hundred thousand US Dollars.
What was most important was that the investment in the Whitewater Company a few years back in Little Rock, Arkansas, hadn’t been very successful.
This made their savings even less, so Hillary was somewhat hesitant about the stock market.
"Do you want the truth?" Dean, holding his wine glass, smiled and clinked glasses with her.
"Of course." Seeing his smile, Hillary knew there was insider information.
Dean looked around, and when nobody was paying attention, he leaned closer to Hillary’s ear.
"If you want to make big money, then follow my lead."
The hot breath and the low voice made Hillary’s heart stir, and she attributed it to the hints Dean had just dropped.
Make big money? Everyone present was interested, including Hillary.
"I know what to do." She gave Dean an understanding look.
"Good~" Dean raised his wine glass as a signal, then prepared to leave.
"What were you just talking about?" Clinton, his face glowing, approached with a smile and a glass of wine in his hand.
Today, he had made many connections with celebrities here, which included several chatty Hollywood leading ladies.
"Dean and I were discussing how to make big money." Dean put an arm around him intently as they clinked glasses.
Since that secret meeting at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, his relationship with the couple had entered a whole new level.
After hearing Dean’s explanation, Clinton laughed heartily with a glass in hand, "If you ask me, if you want to make big money, following Dean is the right move."
"Bill, you’re as wise as ever." Dean winked at Hillary; see, your husband has already made the decision for you.
"It looks like I need to learn to take others’ advice." Hillary smiled mildly, lifting an eyebrow.
"Mhm" Clinton nodded and handed his empty glass to a passing server.
Just then, he saw a familiar figure in the crowd; coincidentally, the person also looked over.
They exchanged a silent signal and then deliberately avoided each other’s gaze.
Finally, after joking around with Dean for a bit, Clinton started looking for an excuse to leave.
"You guys carry on, I’m going to the restroom."
"Do you need someone to show you the way?" As the host, Dean was very attentive.
"No, I know where it is." Clinton declined his kind offer.
Watching her husband hurry away, Hillary felt a bit strange.
At that moment, she saw another figure in the crowd heading in the same direction.
Hillary’s face darkened, if she wasn’t mistaken, that seemed to be Jennifer Flowers.
A former Arkansas television station reporter, now active in the industry as an actress and singer.
The reason Hillary knew her was thanks to her own husband.
He had assured her more than once that he had severed ties with Jennifer Flowers.
But now, aha, was this a coincidence?
Indescribable rage welled up inside Hillary, and she thought back to the phone call that night.
She had already warned him, even resorted to violence.
But the current situation proved that Clinton simply couldn’t change his ways.
Suppressing her anger, Hillary prepared to talk to Dean about the stock market.
Perhaps the only thing that could distract her was money.
But turning around, she found that Dean had already moved away; he was deep in conversation with a girl.
"Who’s that girl?" Hillary asked her assistant, Dick Morris, without showing her irritation.
"I’m not quite sure, I’ll need to ask around." He turned and walked into the crowd, looking for someone well-informed.
Soon Dick had the information he wanted, "Jennifer Aniston, a Hollywood newcomer, minor roles."
"I hate everyone named Jennifer!" The grievance in Hillary’s heart grew.
...
"Your name is Jennifer too?" Dean asked the girl before him, surprised; he felt she looked familiar.
"Yes, you can call me Jenny." Jennifer Aniston was a bit excited.
Today, she had just tagged along with a friend, managing to slip into this grand party.
Otherwise, with her status as a minor Hollywood figure, she wouldn’t have had access to such an upscale venue.
She was just looking for a chance, but inadvertently ran into Dean.
Well, the truth was, Dean had ducked out early to avoid Hillary’s steely countenance.
He was all too familiar with that expression; it was the same that night.
No need to guess, it was the Governor getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar again.
The clever Dean would not stay to watch the drama unfold; that would only bring trouble upon himself.
So, in his rush to leave the scene, he had bumped into the current Miss Jenny Number Two.
"Jenny, are you having fun tonight?"
Catching a glimpse of the looks trailing him, Dean decided to engage the unlucky girl in conversation, holding his wine glass up.
He had just recently given her nose a real knock, turning it bright red, "I’m having a blast, especially getting to..."
Jennifer Aniston gestured wildly with her hands, very excited.
She had just had the privilege of listening to Dean’s pitch and was no doubt that the former’s company had become a superstar in America.
Byte Company, going public, astronomical valuations... each of these was enough to unsettle anyone.
