39: Chapter 39 Bar Business 39: Chapter 39 Bar Business “Sir, do you need any help?
What would you like to drink?”
Allen Zhang had a look around upon entering, and a nearby Bunny Girl waitress quickly caught up with him, considerately asking if he required any service.
Allen Zhang glanced at her: bunny ears, fluffy rabbit tail pompom, blonde hair and blue eyes, with freckles on her face, an average figure, and rather ordinary looks.
He thought it would seem pretty irrational to ask where the trash bins were as soon as he walked in, perhaps he would be kicked out like a stinking beggar.
Unlike the streets where he could freely start a fight, searching through the trash on someone else’s turf was indeed a bit tricky.
He promptly took out a roll of thick Paper Currency, pulled out a 5 US Dollar note, placed it on her tray, and replied: “Anything will do.”
Seeing him tip so generously, the Bunny Girl noticed he was carrying at least hundreds of dollars in cash, obviously a man with money, and her eyes lit up.
She was practically ready to attach herself to him.
She spoke in a coquettish voice: “Sir, we have beer including stouts, Light Beer, and pure malt, 1-2 dollars a cup.
For spirits, we have Brandy, Whiskey, Vodka, tequila, 2-5 dollars a cup.
What would you like to drink?”
It was an accident waiting to happen.
“5 dollars.” Allen Zhang smiled, his gaze shifted away from the side, glanced over her ample assets, took out another 5-dollar note, stuffed it into the canyon of her collar, and whispered, “This is for your tip.
Please find me a quiet place.”
He needed to carefully observe where the compartments for trash storage were located.
The Bunny Girl gave him a seductive look and said, “Follow me, sir.” Swinging her hips, she carried the tray towards the corridor next to them.
Allen Zhang immediately followed and upon reaching the end of the corridor, found it was a dead end, and was momentarily puzzled.
But the Bunny Girl pressed a hidden compartment next to her, pushed a door open, and entered.
Allen Zhang instantly realized this place was a hidden gem?
Damn, did he just trigger a hidden level?
Following the Bunny Girl inside, Allen Zhang saw the atmosphere change with a different lighting.
The room basked in soft pink light and the air was filled with perfume, greatly stimulating one’s physical desires.
Peeking through the curtains, he could vaguely see several men lying on the beds in small booths, with Bunny Girl masseuses working on them.
Hey!
Is this supposed to be broadcast live?
Turns out it’s all pay-per-view here.
I knew this bar’s décor wasn’t that simple…
The Bunny Girl didn’t lead Allen Zhang straight into a booth, but instead, took him to a spacious VIP room.
After entering, he found rows of machines, billiard tables, claw machines, punching bag meters, and even mahjong machines, with the place filled with customers.
Allen Zhang immediately understood why he was brought here.
It turns out this place was also a gambler’s den; this bar really does provide all sorts of services, like a mishmash of everything.
Under the Bunny Girl’s guidance, Allen Zhang casually picked a machine and sat next to an elderly white man.
The old man glanced at him, then disinterestedly turned away, busily scrutinizing the lotto machine numbers, taking part in the ‘Quick Scratch’ and ‘Monopoly’ games that allowed bets as low as 1 dollar with prizes up to 66,000 dollars.
He occasionally scribbled on a piece of paper.
“Fxxk!!”
When the machine spit out a lottery card, and the scratched numbers didn’t match the winning numbers, the old man cursed quietly under his breath.
He casually tossed the card into the nearby bin, now filled with a thick stack of them.
Even at 1 dollar a bet, he must have scratched through at least a hundred dollars.
The Bunny Girl poured Allen Zhang a 5-dollar Whiskey and smiled, “Sir, if you need anything, just let me know.”
She also pulled up the panel menu for him.
Allen Zhang looked over the services listed: “Leaf-brand cigarettes, 5 dollars each; Opioid Fragrance and chewable tobacco, 20 dollars per stick/item; drinks ranging from 2-15 dollars per cup/bottle; massage services, 50 dollars per session.”
There didn’t seem to be any overtly extravagant service options—most just involved touching and beating around the bush.
The prices here are quite a bit higher than outside, creating a peach-colored ambiance.
Certain more…
suggestive services also shouldn’t be available to the public during this time.
Allen nodded and immediately ordered a 4 US Dollar Red Bull, taking out a 5 dollar bill and placing it on the Bunny Girl’s tray.
He didn’t ask for the 1 dollar change, considering it as a tip instead.
The Bunny Girl also revealed a sweet smile.
Allen casually inquired, “Where’s the restroom and the place to dispose of trash here?
I mean, if I want to throw away a bottle without bothering you, where should I go?”
The Bunny Girl wasn’t surprised by his question and answered with a polite smile, “It’s just not far from here.
You can ask the security staff and janitors; they will help you.”
Alan glanced in the direction she indicated and noticed a Black man standing in the corner.
Tall and burly, wearing sunglasses and a black suit.
Dark skin does have its advantages in hiding.
“Thank you, go on with your work; I’ll call you if I need anything,” Allen withdrew his gaze, offering a polite smile.
The Bunny Girl nodded, understanding that haste does not bring success, and then turned to head towards the nearby resting area.
A waitress applying nail polish saw her approach and immediately asked, “Mary, got a new client?”
Mary nodded, “A very wealthy guest, he’s carrying at least hundreds of dollars.”
“He’s not just pretending to be rich, is he?
Judging by his age, he’s only in his twenties; his wallet can’t possibly match those of the retired white old men.
Don’t be fooled just because he’s handsome.”
Her colleague immediately advised and reminded her, “If he offers to take you home after work or asks you to dinner, you must not agree.”
Mary said with a smile, “How could that be?
I’m just earning some service fees; nothing will happen between us in private.
I have a boyfriend.”
“That’s good.
Do you remember our coworker Abby?
She was duped by a slick white man who got her pregnant, thinking he was a Hollywood film producer with deep pockets.
Turned out he was a gambler in deep debt who even borrowed loans under Abby’s name.
In the end, he lost everything and took off, leaving her with a pile of bad debts.”
“Now Abby has to work three jobs every day.
She works 8 hours at McDonald’s during the day, 4 hours at a bar at night, and after fulfilling her quota, she still has to try her luck on the streets soliciting clients.
It’s really tragic!” Her colleague felt sympathy and empathy.
Mary also felt pity.
Allen Zhang took a look around, first watching some white old men play ‘Quick Scratch’ and ‘Monopoly’, popular gambling industry categories in various states, often seen at self-service printers in corner stores.
Quick Scratch games start as cheap as 1 US Dollar to participate, with cards printed on local networked devices, allowing for up to 20 consecutive prize draws within a minute.
Simply scratch off symbols like a knife, stamp, popcorn, or a soda cup to win 20, 10, 5, or 2 dollars.
Bigger prizes require several matching symbols.
Allen watched one white old man scratch off twelve cards in a minute, winning only 2 dollars, not even enough to break even, effectively losing his shorts.
Shit’s rigged.
Less than a minute, and 10 dollars gone, that’s two hundred cans.
Dominic would be heartbroken to see this.
Allen figured out the rules and splurged 5 dollars for a try.
He scratched furiously, but before he could make out the words, the printer displayed a red mark.
In his bewildered state, it spat out 25 dollars.
“You’re really lucky!” the white old man said, green with envy.
“Just so-so,” Allen replied modestly, took the money, and decisively chose to leave quickly.
He seriously suspected the machine had been tampered with behind the scenes.
This thing, newcomers would definitely win the first time.
You’re after its prize money; it’s after your principal.
