Chapter 375: Chapter 203: Millionaire_2
Allen Zhang got out of the car with his team and headed towards the artificial passage under the guidance of the soldiers. They removed all the equipment they were carrying, filled out forms one by one, and took photos of the actual items. Each person also had a label printed and stuck on their security equipment to facilitate collection.
"What, you’re also taking our phones?"
Allen Zhang looked at his mobile phone, wrapped and placed in plastic film. Was this kind of caution really necessary? Were they being treated as suspected spies?
However, new customers were still completing forms here while old customers, already having their credentials, were swiftly allowed entry with a step on the gas pedal.
Upon hearing the roar of engines, the General Sect Leader turned around and saw a bulletproof off-road armored vehicle modified extensively speeding through the entrance, carrying boxes of goods. A quick scan of credentials from a distance and the soldiers in charge of guarding the entrance resolutely allowed passage.
"Why don’t they need to be inspected?" Allen Zhang asked the staff member, puzzled.
"Sir, they are from the Armed Nation which has had numerous collaborations with our military district. If your Armed Nation has a two stars or above qualification and has traded with the local military district in California within the last six months, you can apply online in advance and print the military’s entry and exit certificate," explained the staff member.
"I don’t recall seeing any online prompts for printing or any application links in the background," Allen Zhang found it strange.
The staff member checked Thunderbolt Fire’s qualifications again and explained, "That’s because you need to reaccumulate credit points and restore your previous qualifications, as your Armed Nation has no transaction records with the military district in the past six months and has undergone a transfer contract. California law specifically states that within three months after a transfer, vehicles from an Armed Nation must fill in information as per requirements when entering or exiting the military district. Any violation during this period will result in revocation of qualification for cooperation with the military district. If the transaction amount exceeds 200,000 US Dollars during this period, it is considered normal credit and no special procedures will be required next time."
This was to ensure that terrorists and spies couldn’t infiltrate a military base easily just by taking over an Armed Nation, to prevent them from carrying out bombing retaliations and intelligence gathering operations. Otherwise, it would be too easy for them to penetrate military bases.
But infiltration wasn’t really hard.
All it took was money.
Make military leaders profit and see your sincerity. They would certainly be glad to welcome you for transactions! You might even be invited to participate in their morale-boosting programs.
It’s all about a cautious face-saving project but not entirely foolproof.
Realizing this, Allen Zhang cooperated with the staff to complete all checks and was then allowed to proceed to the tender hall of the Roginwei Military Base.
During this time, he also saw soldiers jogging around the training ground and many arms dealers were being guided around the base facilities.
Roginwei Military Base had an impressive scale, covering a vast area. Nearby, the military training site housed several Black Hawk helicopters, one Apache attack helicopter, armored vehicles, and tanks. Just these items alone meant military spending here surpassed several hundred million US Dollars!
This was just one of the less famous military bases in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California.
You can imagine with nearly 900 billion US Dollars in annual military spending, how lavish the equipment maintained by the troops could be - and how much money could be made from selling it off secretly.
However, the grade of equipment does not represent real combat power. Allen Zhang felt that these gadgets were probably seldom used, had battlefield limitations, and the current mainstream battleground was likely dominated by drones and electronic warfare, where even the most powerful attack helicopters could be rendered ineffective once jammed and targeted by a Stinger missile.
Black Hawk helicopter costs 7 million US Dollars, while a Stinger only costs 40,000 US Dollars to produce but can easily bring one down.
Still, against many Third World Countries without anti-aircraft facilities, these equipments still perform dimensionality reduction attacks, not to mention against small-scale private militias and drug lords, primarily bullying the weak and fearing the strong.
From the outside, you couldn’t tell much, but once inside, the military base wasn’t three steps from a guard post or ten steps from a sentry, but there was a surveillance camera around every corner, making it somewhat challenging to undertake any activities here.
The staff responsible took the General Sect Leader and a few others to the tenders department hall, asked them to patiently wait for the military arms evaluation documents to be ready, then turned and left.
Many people were already waiting here, holding various tags and credentials, and some were even grabbing a free military base breakfast.
Allen Zhang found a place to sit down while Sieg went to place orders nearby: sandwiches, milk, fried eggs, coffee sweets - and brought them over for a quick bite.
"Boss, this should be a standard tender transaction area. If a transaction involving over a million US Dollars in military arms occurs, we’d definitely be invited upstairs to the VIP guest room for private negotiations and transactions. This is our first time here, and we’re just here on their hospitality, so the treatment is certainly not that great," Sieg explained.
The General Sect Leader just nodded, unconcerned, took a bite of the sandwich, and found it tasted quite good—much better than what convenience stores on the roadside sold.
After all, military meals have been quite impressive since the last century. They have never been mistreated. Being a soldier stationed at an overseas military base is a cushy job, with daily access to cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, coffee, and even comfort women. What more could they want?
