Chapter 38: The Utterly Wrecked Zoroark
Zoroark glared at Chen Nian with pure rage, its furious roars echoing through the café:
“Ssoooaaa!!!”
“Ssoooaaa!!!”
“Ssoooaaa!!!”
……
Thanks to his psychic abilities, Chen Nian understood exactly what Zoroark was trying to say.
It was screaming at him—”You cost me my goddamn pentakill!!”
……
What.
Just… what.
This Zoroark was that addicted to gaming?!
Was this even the same Zoroark he remembered?
This wasn’t a Pokémon—it was a full-blown internet junkie!
……
Though momentarily stunned, Chen Nian quickly steeled himself.
A gamer Zoroark? Even better. I’m definitely catching this one.
So, without hesitation, he pointed at Zoroark and declared:
“I’m catching you, Zoroark!”
“So let’s battle!”
……
“You ruined my pentakill, didn’t even apologize, and now you want to catch me?!”
“You think I’m some pushover?!”
Having spent so much time in internet cafés, this Zoroark had clearly picked up some choice human phrases.
With an enraged snarl, it lunged straight at Chen Nian’s Dragonite.
Seeing the attack coming, Chen Nian barked an order:
“Fatty—end this fast! Use Dragon Claw!”
“FATTY?!”
Dragonite froze mid-air, utterly bewildered.
Then its face twisted in misery.
“Master, what the hell?! Why do you keep calling me ‘Fatty’?! I’m majestic as hell!!”
……
Despite its internal grievances, Dragonite obeyed instantly.
In a blur of speed, it closed the distance, its chubby claws glowing with draconic energy as it slashed at Zoroark.
Instead of retreating, Zoroark leapt upward, kicking off the ceiling before countering with a Shadow Claw, dark energy swirling around its own claws.
……
BOOM!
Shadow Claw vs. Dragon Claw.
The clash was brutal—but the power gap was too wide.
Zoroark went flying, crashing straight through one of the café’s lounge sofas, reducing it to splinters.
By the time Dragonite caught up, it realized—
The poor, game-addicted Zoroark had been knocked out cold.
Victorious, Dragonite turned to Chen Nian with a proud roar, ready to celebrate—
Only to be yanked back into its Poké Ball mid-shout.
……
“Are you KIDDING ME?!” Dragonite’s muffled voice came from inside the ball. “You call me out to fight, don’t even let me flex, and then just stuff me back in?!”
Meanwhile, Chen Nian casually tossed another Poké Ball at the unconscious Zoroark.
Click.
Capture successful.
Sure, Zoroark hadn’t willingly submitted yet, but that didn’t matter. Chen Nian could work on that later.
……
Glancing around at the wrecked café, Chen Nian frowned before calling out:
“Who owns this place? Step forward!”
“I’ll pay for the damages.”
A chubby middle-aged man practically teleported to his side, face flushed with excitement.
“M-Master! I’m the owner! P-Please, don’t even mention compensation!”
“Having you here is an honor! If you ever want to game again, it’s on the house—forever!”
……
The owner was thrilled.
This was a once-in-a-century event for his little internet café! A story he could brag about for life!
A few broken sofas? Worthless.
The real prize? A legendary trainer with a Dragonite just graced his establishment!
And let’s not forget—a Zoroark had been gaming here.
That alone was free advertising gold!
……
Seeing the owner’s refusal, Chen Nian didn’t push it.
With the excitement over, neither he nor Nan Qinli felt like sticking around.
Hand in hand, they left the café.
Right now, he had more important business—
Getting Zoroark to a Pokémon Center.
That overenthusiastic “Fatty” might’ve hit it a little too hard…
