Chapter 74: Chapter 71: The Best Start in History!
The next day, Biaozi arrived on time.
He roared and threatened outside the door, "ao wu ao wu," yet hesitated to break in.
Following his reasoning, Wang Hao threw a corn cake over the wall: "Eat it, eat it."
"Ah, we are both wanderers at the edge of the world. Why need we have known each other before?"
Biaozi deftly caught the corn cake and wolfed it down voraciously.
But a single corn cake was merely enough to stick in his teeth, as he continued to roar loudly at the door.
Speaking to the door, Wang Hao muttered to himself, "Don’t overthink it, it’s not that I pity you. I just need you to do something. After eating this cake, you should have some strength, right? A clearer mind, good for picking a fight with the old man."
"Our fates, as two worthless kids, are in your hands now."
"Hmm, one corn cake might not be enough, you’ll be out of luck if you can’t win the fight... I’ll give you 0.2 more, but not a bit extra!"
No matter how it threatened and roared, Wang Hao went straight back to the yard and continued to arrange his things, ignoring it completely.
1.2, that was his predicted limit.
Indeed, achieving this step still allowed for a very high margin of error.
Because he had brought two Immortal Beans with him.
Even if Biaozi’s subsequent actions did not go as expected, he was still confident in passing the level with a high score.
On the third day, the old neighbor still knocked on the door, babbling something about "grandmother trying to harm people."
Wang Hao sharpened his knife in the yard, indifferent.
After all, the other party couldn’t possibly get in.
However, his foolish younger brother, after hearing the neighbor’s temptations, turned pale with fear, trembling and scratching his head in confusion and distress.
"Brother, what’s my name? And what’s your name?"
Old Wang said, "Are you going to listen to me or to that old man?"
"I’ll listen to you..." his brother said weakly.
Wang Hao talked nonsense: "A name is just a code. You should think about it, do I have an inevitable connection with the universe? Does the universe have an end? Does time have a length? Where does past time vanish to? Where does future time cease? Are the questions I’m asking at this moment the same as the one you just asked?"
His foolish brother lay back on the bed with a confused face.
An NPC is an NPC; if you speak a bit cryptically, they simply can’t understand.
The fourth day, the crucial day, had arrived!
Sure enough, there came the roaring from the old neighbor and Biaozi fighting fiercely next door!
He couldn’t continue lying in bed any longer. Wang Hao hurriedly climbed up the peach tree, looking down at the sight of these two "crouching tigers, hidden dragons" battling it out.
"Fight, fight to your hearts’ content! Better if you bash each other’s brains out!"
Seen through a layer of mist, the long-limbed elderly neighbor and Biaozi’s battle resembled an intense shadow play. The neighbor’s weapon was his fingers, his steel-like fingers acting like blades, each poke leaving a bloody hole.
Biaozi was no ordinary animal either; with teeth and claws razor-sharp, ferociously fearless.
Soon, the courtyard was stained with splatters of blood amid their loud roars.
Until that afternoon, both lay on the ground, motionless.
They truly... perished together?!
A tremendous opportunity arose before him, and this peculiar sense of achievement was simply unprecedented, irresistible.
Wang Hao felt his heart turn into an Emperor Engine, its beat quickening into a frenzied "thump thump thump."
Is it that simple?
Yes, it was indeed very simple. When the snipe and clam contend, the fisherman benefits.
But who could have thought that tossing 1.2 pieces of bread to Biaozi would bring about such a result?
This was information obtained only after dying twice!
And the foolish younger brother had also climbed up the peach tree. After seeing the two corpses, he just stood there dumbfounded.
He had absolutely no idea what had happened.
Why, after giving Biaozi a piece of bread, did these two guys start fighting? How did it come to pass that both of them ended up dead?
"My guess wasn’t wrong, giving Biaozi just a bit more than one piece of bread equalizes their fighting power! If I give none, the old man wins; if I give more than 1.8 pieces, Biaozi wins!"
This wondrous joy lasted a whole three minutes. The "Emperor Engine" finally shut down, and Wang Hao swallowed hard, still hardly daring to believe such a good outcome had transpired.
A smile appeared on his face.
"Or perhaps one of them is still breathing, just lying on the ground..."
So, just to be safe, he simply ran to his bedroom and slept for the night.
The next morning, on the fifth day, he discovered that the two bodies were still lying there, without having moved an inch.
Only then could he confirm... they really had killed each other.

Wang Hao gave himself a thumbs up: "I really am a genius, ’Paradise’ — solved!"
Taking a deep breath, filled with a blend of anxiety and excitement, Wang Hao, fully armed, left the house!
"You stay inside and lock the door. Don’t come out for now," he instructed the foolish younger brother hiding in the yard. "Climb up the peach tree. If anything strange comes close, immediately call out to me."
"I understand!" The foolish brother was completely convinced and obeyed the orders.
In his eyes, his brother was as powerful as a Heavenly God descending to earth!
Wang Hao first went to the Black-clothed Guard "Li Xianfeng’s" house to retrieve important letters.

Then, he tiptoed into the neighboring yard.
The courtyard was a mess from their life-and-death struggle, traces of dried blood everywhere.
After a thorough inspection, he shockingly discovered that the fierce Biaozi was definitively dead, his body starting to stiffen.
But the neighbor, the old man, was critically injured, his chest continually heaving. Fine root-like tendrils grew out of the old man’s mouth, ears, and nose, converging above his head into a small ginseng.
"Still not dead?"
This Blood Ginseng incessantly drained the old man’s blood; in a little while, it might completely desiccate him.
Seemingly sensing someone in the yard, the old man’s crimson eyes opened, looking toward the direction of the footsteps.
Wang Hao’s steps momentarily hesitated, his hand clutching a freshly sharpened Kitchen Knife, his heart a bit tense. The Kitchen Knife was but a psychological comfort against such a monster.
Weakly, the old man said, "Little melon, I really don’t want to die, I really don’t."
Wang Hao faltered for a moment.
"But it’s coming to take me away... I see it now..."
"It looks just like my mother, scolding me, saying I haven’t come home in days. This scene is just like when I was young, familiar... hundreds of years ago, when my mother was still alive."
"How I miss it..."
Wang Hao did not pick up the conversation. Recklessly discussing "it" was not wise; who knew if he’d be taken away again.
So, he made a gesture of covering his ears, not wanting to finally be close to completion and then suddenly be extinguished.
"You know of its existence? You must know by now... how wonderful... clever child, you actually know about it."
