Alternate Dimension Game: Happiness is all that matters!
Chapter 52 - 50: The First Reincarnation of Hunger and Cold

Chapter 52: Chapter 50: The First Reincarnation of Hunger and Cold

Wang Hao’s heart raced with fear: "So Biaozi’s use was to become a layer of skin, to block the fence’s attacks?"

"Now with the Biaopi coat, the old man can get in!"

About 30 seconds later, the neighbor old man, exerting all his strength, actually managed to climb over the wall. Wang Hao also saw the old man’s true face, and his whole body jolted in shock, instantly feeling that the man was more terrifying than a ghost!

He was dumbfounded as if a multitude of clues were slowly linking together in his mind.

Could it be that he was the Elder from the "Destruction of Li Family Village" script?

No mistake, no wonder he looked so familiar.

It was that Elder!

The two looked quite similar: lean build, bronze skin, long limbs, a face aged and frightening, eyes as big as copper bells bulging out—most likely the same person...

With that thought, Wang Hao felt chills running down his spine.

Countless mysteries erupted in his mind, yet he couldn’t find a real explanation.

The world is so small; how did this old coot end up in this godforsaken place? And what’s with "Granny"? Wasn’t the old man busy with some Blood Ginseng plan to prolong his own life... How did he get here?

But there was no time to think too much; having learned this truth, the horror level of the "Paradise" script was escalating wildly!

He watched helplessly as the old man rushed into the courtyard, and Wang Hao, now just a 10-year-old child, what resistance could he have even with a kitchen knife in hand?

He could only flee!

"Melon Kid, follow the old man quietly!" the old man bellowed, rushing over at great speed.

Wang Hao, mustering his courage, removed the red curtain in the living room just as the old man entered.

A bright mirror appeared from behind the curtain, facing the courtyard.

The old man’s figure suddenly paused with a roar.

It seemed he saw himself in the mirror, showing an extremely horrified expression before collapsing to the ground.

But there was no time for thought; Wang Hao immediately rushed into the Paperman room.

The old man recovered from his frightened state and chased after him.

"Boom boom boom!"

The sound of knocking on the door resounded from outside. The knocking grew louder, and the whole room trembled.

Wang Hao felt as if his blood was about to boil, his heart hammering at nearly two hundred beats per minute due to extreme fear.

"Open the door! Open the door!"

"Be careful those Papermen eat you!"

"Melon Kid, the old man is doing this for your own good, come out!"

Wang Hao gritted his teeth, looking at paper dolls of various shapes and sizes hanging in midair, a creepy sense of being watched emanating from the paper dolls’ eyes.

"Ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling." The sound of the wind chimes seemed to respond.

"Wah—" A child’s cry came from outside.

Wang Hao felt a chill in his heart—damn it, how could he forget his silly little brother outside!

At this moment, he felt a sincere rage—he had truly not considered his silly brother’s safety in the scene just now—although this was only a game, and his mission had not failed because of this.

[Main mission: Survive seven days.]

It only required him to survive seven days; there were no stipulations regarding his silly brother.

"Fuck, I, a Fourth-day Catastrophe, am actually getting played by an NPC in the game’s storyline! You damn old man, you wicked old man!"

Wang Hao, feeling his heart pounding with fear, also began to grow a bit angry, "Once I’ve solved the Game’s puzzle, I’ll make sure to these NPCs get what’s coming to them!"

There was also a mirror in the Paperman’s house, covered with a red cloth.

Wang Hao gripped the red cloth tightly, ready to unveil the mirror at a moment’s notice, to deal with these eerily dancing Papermen. His mind raced, the "Paradise" script was weirdly intense and seemed to tie together some of the previous Game clues.

But so far, he hadn’t found the breakthrough yet. He simply had no idea what the worldview of this world was.

He didn’t know how much time had passed when the sound of wind chimes disappeared, and the neighbour old man seemed to have left.

It was now nighttime, and the inside of the Paperman house was terrifyingly dark, so he had no choice but to quietly open the door of the room and found that the courtyard gate was open.

He carefully searched the house and the yard, but didn’t find the neighbour old man.

His silly younger brother was also gone, and toys were scattered all over the floor of the bedroom.

This meant the neighbour had gotten what he wanted and had left contentedly through the courtyard gate.

Wang Hao felt a pang of sorrow in his heart, yet felt powerless, "I’m sorry, I can hardly save myself in this Reincarnation. In the next one, I’ll definitely save you and not let you die."

He relocked the courtyard gate.

[You feel Hunger, causing waves of fatigue.]

He hadn’t eaten anything today. When he went back to the kitchen, he suddenly discovered that all the remaining corn cakes were gone!

The neighbour old man had stolen them!

Wang Hao faintly felt like he had lost something.

And also grasped something.

What does the old man want with my cakes?! Doesn’t he have a Biaozi as food, and he even stole a silly brother? Why take my cakes?

Well, now there’s an additional clue that was initially overlooked: the corn cakes!

And so, he spent the fifth night amidst Hunger.

[Overnight has passed, you wake up feeling not so well.]

Even the text of the notifications had changed.

The sixth day.

For some reason, Wang Hao noticed a tremendous change in his entire field of vision, the original white fog had turned into a deep red mist, and the background of the entire world was filled with a dark red, distorted halo. All straight lines were twisted, turning the world into a series of abstract paintings, making his vision extremely unsettling.

Early in the morning, he listened as the tables and chairs in the living room kept moving back and forth, as if someone were doing housework.

"On the sixth day, the red fog appears, will a bigger plot unfold?"

With both internal and external troubles and attacked by Hunger and Cold, Wang Hao was completely baffled by this storyline.

Moreover, being in a [Hunger] state made his ability to move exceptionally slow – he used to be able to run fast, but now he walked at a snail’s pace.

"Children really can’t stand Hunger. A day of hunger leaves one barely able to get out of bed, two days might lead to paralysis."

"This Reincarnation, it might not be possible to clear it. The silly brother is also dead... ah."

He made some quick mental calculations.

He had originally planned to follow the "Grandmother’s" hint and go for a safety score.

But now that the food had been stolen by the neighbour old man, and his ability to move was exceptionally slow.

If any abnormalities occurred, he would be in a completely untenable situation.

In such a situation, to still think about clearing the Game was sheer Delusion.

"So then... let’s boldly explore more information!" Facing the fact that he was about to lose two hundred points, Wang Hao, instead of feeling anxious, was prepared to proceed without fear or hesitation.
