Alpha's mate is a male?
Chapter 83: Waking Up In His Arms.

Chapter 83: Waking Up In His Arms.

The night air is cool, carrying a hint of dampness as Jun and Rey move quietly through the darkened hallways of Kieran’s mansion.

The dim flicker of candlelight barely penetrates the shadows, but they’ve long since grown accustomed to the silence that hangs in the air.

"This is a bad idea," Rey mutters, his voice low, barely more than a breath. He glances at Jun, a frown tugging at his lips. "We shouldn’t be snooping around."

Jun shakes his head, his eyes glinting with curiosity. "We’re not snooping. I just want to know if he’s still alive in there. You have no idea how much Ace is angry at him! Do you know if I hadn’t gone home in the morning _ Ace would have gone away, and I don’t know where. We should know if he is still around... if they have talked it out."

Rey lets out a small, exasperated sigh. "You’re just being nosy. You know Kieran doesn’t like people poking around in his business."

"I know," Jun replies, voice barely a whisper. "But if Ace is still in there, I want to know how things are going between them."

Rey stays silent for a moment, clearly not convinced. Still, he follows Jun as the younger man moves stealthily toward Kieran’s room.

They pause at the door, just a few feet away. Jun presses a finger to his lips, signaling for Rey to keep quiet.

The two of them crouch down, peering through the crack in the door after they open it silently.

What they see leaves them both frozen.

Kieran lies sprawled across the bed, his normally tense and rigid form completely relaxed, his breathing slow and steady.

Ace is curled up next to him, his arms wrapped around Kieran’s chest as if holding him close for warmth. Both of them are fast asleep.

Jun blinks twice, unable to tear his gaze away.

The sight of Kieran_ an alpha, the most powerful leader among their packs

_ seemingly vulnerable, resting in Ace’s arms, feels almost surreal.

They’d expected arguments, or maybe even more hostility between the two of them.

They expected Ace to have walked out in frustration, tired of waiting for the alpha to get his act together.

Instead, what they find is something else entirely.

Ace’s head rests against Kieran’s shoulder, his expression soft in sleep.

His hand is still resting on Kieran’s chest, his fingers barely brushing against the alpha’s skin.

There’s no tension between them now, no conflict, just the quiet, peaceful rhythm of their breathing.

Rey swallows hard, glancing at Jun in disbelief. "What the hell?"

Jun’s expression mirrors his disbelief.

He stares at them, his thoughts racing. The silence of the room feels deafening, as if the weight of the moment presses down on him.

He’s never seen Kieran like this_ not even in the calmest of moments. To see him so relaxed, so... human, is shocking.

He looks at Kieran’s face.

The usual hardness is gone.

The tension that constantly surrounds him seems to have dissipated in his sleep, leaving him almost... peaceful.

And then there’s Ace... holding him. His grip isn’t desperate, just steady. As if they both need this connection.

Neither of them moves for several minutes, caught in the strange stillness of the moment.

Jun smiles, before a chuckle follows.

Finally, Rey speaks up, his voice barely audible. "I told you to stay out of their business_ see... they will fight ment their relationship on their own, so come on, we should go."

Jun nods, though part of him doesn’t want to leave.

Part of him feels like they’ve intruded on something intimate, something private between the two of them.

And yet, there’s no denying the strange comfort in the sight.

It’s as if Ace’s presence is exactly what Kieran needs_ what he’s always needed but never allowed himself to acknowledge.

Rey turns to leave first, but Jun lingers just a second longer, his eyes softening.

He can’t help but feel... relieved. Maybe, just maybe, things will work out between them.

Rey comes back after realising Jun didn’t follow him after he left, he carries him away.

_

The first rays of sunlight pierce through the thick curtains, spilling soft golden light across the room.

Kieran stirs, his body aching, yet not from the physical exhaustion of battle. No, the feeling is different... he feels lighter, as though the weight of the world has lifted off his shoulders.

His eyelids flutter open, and the soft, rhythmic sound of breathing fills the silence.

For a moment, he thinks he’s still dreaming. But then, he shifts, and his gaze falls on the figure beside him.

Ace.

Ace is still asleep, his face serene, a peaceful expression that Kieran hasn’t seen in a long time.

His dark hair spills across the pillow, strands framing his soft features like the most delicate of paintings.

His lips are parted slightly, his chest rising and falling with each breath, and Kieran can’t help but stare.

The warmth that radiates from Ace’s body seems to wrap around him, pulling him into something unfamiliar yet desperately needed.

The overwhelming sense of comfort, of peace, floods Kieran’s senses.

But it’s more than that.

The sight of Ace, so close, so vulnerable in his arms, overwhelms him in a way he hadn’t expected. His heart races, a pang of emotion he can’t quite place tightening his chest.

Kieran inhales deeply, trying to steady his thoughts, but his mind races, tumbling over the emotions he’s kept locked inside for so long.

How can he possibly explain the turmoil inside him? How can he make Ace understand the depth of his feelings?

He wonders what he could say to make Ace forgive him.

There are so many things that need to be said, but the weight of it all seems impossible to put into words.

The guilt gnaws at him, the regret for all the things he’s done wrong, all the ways he’s pushed Ace away when the truth has always been right there_ right here, in his arms.

Kieran’s eyes trace the outline of Ace’s face, the curve of his jaw, the way his lashes flutter in his sleep.

Everything about him is beautiful, and it’s almost painful to look at. Ace doesn’t deserve all the pain Kieran’s caused him.

He doesn’t deserve to carry the weight of Kieran’s mistakes.

What will it take to prove to Ace that he loves him? What will make Ace believe that, deep down, Kieran wants this_ wants him?
