Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 164: A peck
Chapter 164: A peck
"Enough with the staring, we haven’t even reached the best part yet," Damien interjected, breaking her concentration. He shook his head and walked in a different direction.
Ohh! She mouthed, realizing she had been too indulged in praising the hill, that she didn’t take note of her surroundings. Had she praised the hill too much?
Minutes passed, and they still hadn’t reached the destination Damien was taking her to, causing her concern. Was he intentionally making her walk, or had they not arrived yet?
"Damien, where are we heading?" Unable to bear the strain on her legs, she finally asked.
"You will see," he replied, continuing to walk without looking back at her.
"Are we almost there?" She inquired.
"Someone’s eager now," he teased, finally stopping.
"My legs are hurting!" Frustrated, she exclaimed, blowing air to express her discomfort. The beauty of the hill was fading as she walked. If only it were a tourist center with transportation options, they wouldn’t have to be straining themselves.
"Okay," he said, walking toward her, making her flinch in fear.
"What are you doing?" Stuttering, she asked, inching back in fear. Was he upset with her? She didn’t mean to whine, but who wouldn’t in this type of scenario?
Suddenly, Damien picked her up in a bridal style, and she gasped in shock.
"I am fine, you don’t have to carry me," she immediately insisted, tugging at his hand to free herself.
"You said your legs were hurting," he reminded her. ’Yes, stupid, I remember saying that, but I can still walk. I don’t need to be carried,’ she scolded him, inwardly.
"It’s not that bad, I can manage." Smiling warmly, she tried to convince him, but he was unconvinced.
"My future Luna can’t have weak legs, our children will suffer the loss," he teased, making her face turn red. She should have known he would tease her. She let her guard down this time.
"I don’t have weak legs," she corrected.
"Are you admitting you are the future Luna?" He asked, and she choked, coughing. Oh no, she really sounded like she was admitting it. This man would never miss a chance to tease her.
"Can we please just go?" She pleaded, her eyes begging him.
"Fine," he agreed, leading the way to their destination. The walk took another ten minutes, and Damien announced their arrival.
The exhaustion on her face vanished when she saw where they were, it was blissfully amazing. The scene before her comprised a fountain, a butterfly circle, a beautiful cottage, and a playground adorned with hunting tools.
"Did you create all this?" She wondered how they had come to the hill. Since there was a cottage, it seemed likely to be man-made scenery.
"Yes," Damien replied, without regret for the time he spent creating this beautiful place. After his father’s passing, they had to relocate to this pack and that was where he found this hill. He found joy in being surrounded by nature. He often left the pack to have quiet moments alone on the hill, until more duty called and he had to leave for five years.
Though he never stopped caring for the hill, he would have created more beautiful places on the hill if he had time.
"It’s beautiful," she admitted, absentmindedly smiling at the scene that stirred a desire in Damien. He didn’t know how long he could resist claiming her, but being by her side was enough for now, as long as she eventually became his.
The one-month offer was a truce to make her feel safe and open up to her feelings for him. He couldn’t bear the thought of letting her go. She was everything he desired, love and joy. Without her, he felt incomplete, and he acknowledged that.
He had never been this vulnerable, but he wanted to expose himself when it came to her. He desired to share his scars, pain, joy, and sorrow with her.
"Put me down," she requested, feeling the urge to explore the scene in front of her. She had never been to a fountain before, and seeing one now reignited some passion in her.
Her once perfect life, stolen away from her, could have experienced these joys if not for evil people. These thoughts fueled her determination, she would never forgive Lucas and his mother.
"Are your legs still hurting?" He asked, genuinely concerned. She smiled and replied, "Yes, thanks to you, Alpha Damien." Adding the last part, she aimed to extinguish any budding emotions between them. Damien almost hissed at how perfectly timed her words were, she was evidently trying hard to distance herself.
"I am not convinced," he said, purposely annoying her. Her forehead furrowed in a frown, indicating her growing irritation.
"Well, that’s not my fault. I demand you let me go now, Alpha Damien. You wouldn’t want to be accused of depriving one of your people of her freedom, huh?" She said, resorting to blackmail.
"You have become quite skilled with words, your determination only fuels my desire," he remarked, moving his face closer to hers. On impulse, Aurora covered her lips with her free hand and leaned backward, almost stumbling if he hadn’t caught her in time.
With uneven breaths, she processed what had just happened.
"Your mind needs some holy water. What were you thinking?" Damien asked, blowing away a small flower on the side of her cheek.
Embarrassed, her face flushed, and she looked away, feeling foolish for thinking he wanted to kiss her.
"I was only being careful," she lied.
"Or were you anticipating the kiss?" He questioned.
"No," she answered, still facing away. She was still red and couldn’t afford to blush more if she met his gaze. He was a formidable contender, and she wasn’t ready to let her guard down. It was just a spur-of-the-moment reaction, his actions seemed like he was about to kiss her, and she couldn’t help but cover her mouth just in case.
"Alright, I will let you go now," Damien said, and she looked at him, only to realize it was a trap.
Damien quickly pecked her lips and pulled back. "After that peck," he added and finally let her go.
