Allure of a Country Maiden
Chapter 571 - 569

Chapter 571: Chapter 569

Xiao’er quickly toyed over strategies in her mind, then she thought about poisoning all the vampire bats!

To trap the vampire bats in a space, those bats would have to come in contact with her, and Xiao’er had to use her own hand as bait. She guessed that before even half the bats were caught up, she would be sucked dry.

Originally, she wanted to control these vampire bats, and let these bats bite those men in black.

Now, she was running out of time, so she could only poison all the vampire bats.

Xiao’er took five large basins of fresh pig’s blood from the space. Any old animals on the space ranch would automatically be slaughtered and stored in the freezer, that’s how this pig blood was obtained.

Xiao’er poured a bowl of juice extracted from Ashoka flower stamens into the pig blood, and stirred it evenly. Five basins of poison blood were thus prepared.

Time was limited, and dawn was approaching. Xiao’er quickly pulled Yang Liu into the space.

She then stacked up a chair and stood on it, carefully lifting a corner of the iron net on the skylight as quietly as possible, revealing a large gap. At the same time, Xiao’er quickly flashed into the space.

The smell of blood attracted many vampire bats, which rushed in jostling for position.

One by one, the bats strenuously sucked the pig blood from the basins until they were full and started to drop dead one after another.

Xiao’er saw more bats coming in, but the blood in the basins was gone.

She quickly rushed out of space, bracing herself against the pain of the vampire bat bites, sealed up the iron net, and took all the dead vampire bats into the space, because she noticed that some bats, seeing the corpses of their companions, were scared off and fled.

Then she arranged for several more basins of poisoned blood. She really didn’t want to be bitten again, so she had to prepare several more. However, the secret room was narrow, and ten basins were already the limit.

Xiao’er climbed back onto the chair, opened the iron net, and dashed back into the space.

Again, many vampire bats came in. After a large batch of them died, the remaining vampire bats stopped falling for her tricks.

Seeing this, Xiao’er caught a pig from the space ranch, smeared venom on its body, and released it from the space.

The pig that appeared out of thin air was instantly covered with vampire bats. In the blink of an eye, both the pig and the bats fell.

From the skylight, Xiao’er looked out and saw many bats still circling around outside, refusing to come in. After some thought, she stretched her hand out of the skylight and released two more poisoned pigs.

And sure enough, in the blink of an eye, they all perished together. Seeing that the two pigs hadn’t run far before they died, she immediately breathed a sigh of relief, as it would be difficult for her to deal with them if they had run too far.

She took a bottle out of the space and forcefully splashed its contents on the two dry pigs. The pigs visibly dissolved into a pool of blood at an alarming rate. Some vampire bats swooped down to drink the blood, but they too turned into blood after a while. This process wiped out some more bats, which was beyond Xiao’er’s expectation.

There were still over a hundred vampire bats circling anxiously in the sky, refusing to eat any of these mysteriously appearing creatures.

Xiao’er didn’t bother with them anymore, thinking that over a hundred bats were nothing to fear! And furthermore, their presence served well to divert attention.

Xiao’er took out a dagger that could cut through iron like mud, scraped off the dirt clinging to the skylight, and then started to dismantle the wall. This was necessary, the skylight was not big enough, and it was hard for a person to climb out, some bricks had to be removed first.

To prevent vampire bats from flying in, Xiao’er only loosened the window and the bricks without removing them completely.

After finishing this task, she jumped off the chair, collected all the basins and dead bats on the floor into the space, and disposed of them in the waste bin in the space kitchen.

Then, she placed Yang Liu back in her chair, rousing her from her slumber.

Yang Liu woke up groggily. As soon as she took in her surroundings, she immediately went on a full alert, "Miss, are you alright?"

Xiao’er shook her head, "I’m fine, don’t be nervous, it’s almost daybreak. Let’s climb out through the skylight."

Upon hearing this, Yang Liu looked towards the skylight. "But there are many vampire bats outside."

They probably would be attacked by the bat just as they began climbing out.

Xiao’er heard this and mysteriously smiled: "The vampire bats are nearly all dead now."

The vampire bats are nearly all dead now? Yang Liu found this hard to believe.

How did they die? Thousands of vampire bats, how were they exterminated?

"How is this possible?" Yang Liu moved a stool, climbed onto it, and peered out of the skylight. Sure enough, there were far fewer bats!

"It’s a secret, I can’t tell!" Xiao’er feigned mystery.

Yang Liu marveled at Xiao’er’s capabilities again in her heart. The young lady always seemed to surprise her.

"Brother Shangguan and the others are already nearby. They’re likely waiting until dawn when the bats are less active to board the island. We should quickly climb out before they do to join them, lest the men in black take us hostage and hinder them."

Hearing this, Yang Liu nodded in agreement. "Miss, let me climb out first. I’ll check the surroundings and then you can follow, okay?"

Xiao’er handed Yang Liu two medicinal pills and a vial of venom: "First, take this antidote pill. Then spread the venom over your body. This way, if any vampire bats bite you, they’ll be poisoned and die. After all the remaining bats are dead, take the remaining pill. This will heal your wounds and help prevent rabies."

Upon hearing this, Yang Liu instantly misunderstood. She thought that Xiao’er had used her own body to poison thousands of bats.

She had inexplicably fallen asleep before, probably because Xiao’er had purposefully knocked her out to go poison those spiders. Moved beyond words, Yang Liu understood why Xiao’er had called it a secret.

"Miss, next time let me handle such things! I’m just a servant. You shouldn’t have to take such risks!"

Xiao’er: "..."

Caught off guard by Yang Liu’s unexpected reaction, Xiao’er didn’t have much time to consider it further. She could hear the White tiger tell her that their ship was closing in on Bat Island.

While Xiao’er could sense the White tiger’s thoughts, she couldn’t communicate with it over long distances like she did with Bai Tian and the others. The White tiger was born in space, but it wasn’t connected to it. Bai Tian, Tian Bai, and the golden python, however, had a shared origin with space.

Hence, based on the connection of the White Tiger, Xiao’er could only coordinate her actions.

"Hurry, Yang Liu!" Once Shangguan Xuanyi and the others approached Bat Island, the remaining vampire bats would surely fly over. When that happened, the men in black would know that visitors were approaching and would most certainly station guards to watch them at the first opportunity.

Having heard this, Yang Liu quickly swallowed the pill and smeared the venom on her body. Finishing that, she quickly climbed onto the stool, dismantled the skylight and the bricks, glanced outside and found no one there. "Miss, there’s no one outside. I’ll climb out first and help you out afterward!"

Finishing her sentence, Yang Liu climbed out and then jumped down.

Xiao’er also quickly clambered out after her.
