Allure of a Country Maiden -
Chapter 1150 - 1147_1
Chapter 1150: Chapter 1147_1
Xiao’er knew that Shangguan Xuanyi was under great pressure. In reality, it wasn’t quite the right time to attack Nangong Country, as Minze Country had only just begun to develop. If they failed, returning to their original state would be the best outcome, the worst-case scenario being the extinction of their country due to a careless mistake.
For them to conquer the entirety of Nangong Country, they would have to rally the entire strength of their nation, an endeavor that posed quite the challenge. The reason Shangguan Xuanyi suggested attacking Nangong Country was merely for his own protection. Had it not been for the relentless attempts to harm him and take his space, Shangguan Xuanyi wouldn’t have been in such a rush to act.
While Nangong Country was preparing for war, they too were making preparations. If they could have another year or two to get ready, things would be much easier.
At least their military strength would be much stronger! The availability of warhorses from their dimension would allow them to raise a cavalry by the tens of thousands without difficulty.
But with the limited time, they didn’t dare bring too many warhorses into play yet.
When Xiao’er plans for her and Shangguan Xuanyi to swim, she seeks to give him some relaxation in their dimension. Swimming is an excellent way to relieve stress, especially when accompanied by a friend.
Upon hearing this, Shangguan Xuanyi, seemingly inspired by an idea, acknowledged that it was a good plan and nodded his head, saying, "How could I refuse such a gracious invitation from my wife?"
Xiao’er led Shangguan Xuanyi into their dimension, where the two changed into swimsuits and began swimming freely in the ocean within their dimension.
The water here was bluer and cleaner than outside, the sand on the beach softer, and the temperature just right, making it exceedingly comfortable.
The pair kept swimming deeper into the ocean, constantly changing their swimming styles. Shangguan Xuanyi was always at least half a head in front of Xiao’er. But despite her best efforts, Xiao’er just couldn’t close the gap, which frustrated her.
She had never seen him swim before, yet he swam better than her, even though she’d been swimming daily recently!
This was her dimension. Inside, the dimension continued to replenish her stamina automatically. Although small in amount, it was better than Shangguan Xuanyi’s nonexistent supply. Xiao’er was resolute in her conviction that Shangguan Xuanyi would eventually tire out, so she continued swimming toward the seemingly never-ending coastline.
Shangguan Xuanyi looked at Xiao’er, who was swimming out of spite, and smiled. Nonchalantly, he matched her pace, always half a head in the lead.
Two hours later, Shangguan Xuanyi intentionally slowed down, gradually aligning his speed with Xiao’er’s. An hour later, he finally fell slightly behind Xiao’er, who quickly called for a halt, exclaiming, "I won! No more competing!"
After swimming in their dimension for six hours, Xiao’er felt utterly drained. Shangguan Xuanyi simply wasn’t human!
It seemed her initial plan to help him relieve stress was mistaken. This man apparently never got tired or felt stressed!
Shangguan Xuanyi lifted Xiao’er into his arms from the water. Too tired to move, Xiao’er draped herself over him, thinking how fortunate it was that they were in their dimension so they didn’t have to swim back. If they had to, she would be absolutely exhausted.
The two hugged quietly in the water. After a long while, Shangguan Xuanyi said, "Little one, have I ever told you that I love you?"
Upon hearing this, Xiao’er responded somewhat irritably, "If you don’t know whether you’ve said it before, how am I supposed to know?"
Shangguan Xuanyi chuckled softly at her reply. Unable to resist, he leaned down to peck Xiao’er on her smooth, rounded forehead and whispered, "Little one, I love you. I love you very, very much."
Xiao’er was overjoyed to hear his words. Unable to resist the urge to hear more, she managed to tiredly ask, "Very much, very much, just how much do you love me?"
Shangguan Xuanyi pondered her question for a moment before responding, "As much as can be."
He didn’t know how to measure his love, nor could he find something to compare it to. The ocean, they say, is immeasurable, yet as Shangguan Xuanyi gazed out at the peaceful expanse of water, he found it too small. The infinite universe had no end, but was that a fair comparison? The universe was infinitely unknowable, yet his affection was clear to him, so he thought it was not a fair comparison.
Xiao’er didn’t really care about the answer. She was just asking casually, but she was too tired to wait for his answer, and soon fell asleep on top of him.
Shangguan Xuanyi found that Xiao’er had fallen asleep and felt somewhat at a loss. This little girl must have done it on purpose!
Did he really have to carry her and swim for another seven hours to reach the shore? If it were her, she could just wish to be on shore!
But as he looked at Xiao’er’s sleeping face, he realized that he had no other choices. He couldn’t bring himself to wake her up.
Shangguan Xuanyi resigned himself to his fate and, holding Xiao’er with one hand, began swimming back to shore.
Fortunately, the water in their dimension buoyed them up, preventing them from sinking. Otherwise, he wasn’t sure that he would be able to keep going and they might both have drowned in the sea.
Holding the sleeping Xiao’er with one hand and swimming with the other, Shangguan Xuanyi took seven hours to reach the shore. He then lifted Xiao’er and carried her back to bed.
The moment Xiao’er felt the bed beneath her, she woke up groggily. Seeing Shangguan Xuanyi’s handsome face, she remembered that their child was still outside the dimension. With a thought, she and Shangguan Xuanyi departed their dimension and she went back to sleep, comforted by his presence.
With the sudden exit from their dimension — they had been standing when they entered and now Xiao’er left in a lying position — Shangguan Xuanyi fortunately had quick reflexes, catching her before she fell, saving Xiao’er from a forceful encounter with the floor.
The sudden feeling of weightlessness caused Xiao’er to open her eyes instinctively. Seeing that Shangguan Xuanyi had caught her, she closed her eyes again. She was too tired and didn’t want to move.
Shangguan Xuanyi set Xiao’er down on the bed, helped her change out of her swimsuit into a nightgown, and then quickly changed his own clothes. Just as he was about to lie down, a whistle sounded from outside the dimension.
Indifferent, Shangguan Xuanyi gently said, "Little one, I’m making a trip to the palace."
He got off the bed, not sure if Xiao’er had heard him. He left a note on the table to let her know, then swiftly departed.
Though barely conscious, Xiao’er knew Shangguan Xuanyi had left. However, she was so tired that she didn’t have the energy to open her eyes and quickly fell back asleep.
That night, Shangguan Xuanyi left and entered the palace, returning the next morning.
When Shangguan Xuanyi returned home, Xiao’er had just changed into her palace attire, preparing to bring their child into the palace.
"Brother Shangguan, I thought you weren’t coming back."
Today was the day the Fifth Princess returned to the palace, and Shangguan Xuanyi was already expected in the palace, but he decided to leave and return home. This way, he could accompany Xiao’er and their child to the palace.
"How could I let you enter the palace alone with our child? I wouldn’t be comfortable. I’ll change my clothes and then we’ll set off." Shangguan Xuanyi, having said this, promptly washed, changed into the clothes Xiao’er had prepared for him, and they, carrying Yang Liu and Yang Mei, along with their wet nurse, boarded a carriage to the palace.
