Chapter 277: Chapter 268: Entering Reincarnation Mountain, Seeking Reincarnation Road! (11th Update)
Within a certain desolate mountain range, devoid of smoke.
Here, a dense death aura permeates the air, the vegetation is withered, bereft of any signs of life.
Now, amidst the mountains, there is a white-clothed youth who is carrying a woman on his back. Her face is as pale as snow, seeming deep in slumber, yet appearing as if her life force has long been severed.
The youth is none other than Mo Wangchen.
At this moment, he had stepped into the Reincarnation Mountain Range. The place was gloomy, the sun obscured by dark clouds, and sunlight never touched this land. Looking far into the center of the mountain range, there was a solitary and lofty peak. It was rumored that atop this peak, an Other Shore Bridge existed.
That was Mo Wangchen’s destination.
His stride was heavy as a mountain, each footstep leaving a distinct imprint behind.
As he ventured deeper, Mo Wangchen could clearly feel his cultivation ebbing away bit by bit, and his body seemed to be withering away, as if deprived of water.
This was the mystical power of the Reincarnation Mountain, stripping away the flesh, sapping life span, leaving no cultivation intact!
The further he went, the faster his life span dissipated and his cultivation would be totally suppressed, reducing him to an ordinary person.
Mo Wangchen glanced back. He did not know how long he had been walking. Fortuitously, he hadn’t encountered any dangers along the way or been attacked by Monster Beasts.
It would seem logical — within the Reincarnation Mountain, invisible forces eroded the life force within a person’s body. How could Monster Beasts exist in such a place? This was a land of death; no life could survive here.
Seeming cut off from the world, Mo Wangchen stepped in and lost the sense of time passing. He didn’t know how long he had been walking, whether it was a few hours or several days had passed.
Along the way, he saw many skeletons — those who once ventured into the Reincarnation Mountain. Heroes from a million years past, great powers from hundred thousands of years ago, and also those unnamed minor cultivators who couldn’t bear to die in obscurity, longing to journey here in search of the chance for rebirth, but in the end, they all perished in this place.
Now, Mo Wangchen’s face was much paler. He resembled an old man, wrinkles emerging on his face. He could feel a lot of his lifespan had slipped away, and a few strands of white hair also appeared.
The silver lining was that Mo Wangchen possessed a Divine King Body, with a Spirit Sea within him strong as bedrock, seemingly unaffected by the curse of the mysterious forces of the Reincarnation Mountain.
From the Spirit Sea within, a continuous flow of Spiritual Power surged forth, sustaining his journey to this point.
To Mo Wangchen’s surprise, Yaoyao, on his back, seemed completely unaffected as well. She remained unchanged, showing no signs of aging, and the Spirit Sea within her continued to maintain that thread of vitality.
Time passed, and Mo Wangchen continued to carry Yaoyao forward with a steady gait. The deeper he went, the older his appearance became, his body withering, like desiccated tinder.
Finally, after an indistinct amount of time, Mo Wangchen arrived at the foot of the solitary peak. Looking up, there was a stairway leading up the mountain, perhaps long untrodden, overgrown with weeds.
Mo Wangchen took a deep breath. By now, his cultivation inside was completely suppressed. Even the Divine King Body couldn’t withstand the curse power of the Reincarnation Mountain. His body was now as thin as kindling, as if a mere breeze could knock him down.
Thankfully, the Spirit Sea within him was not wholly sealed; a small gap remained, with a trickle of Spiritual Power still emerging, supporting him as he reached this place.
Gazing at the towering, cloud-piercing solitary peak, Mo Wangchen took another deep breath. He felt tired and decided to rest.
He placed Yaoyao down from his back, leaning her against a large boulder at the foot of the mountain. An air of decay emanated from the rock, as if it had withstood the test of time for an unknowable number of years.
Mo Wangchen’s lips were parched, his hair had long turned as white as snow, and his face was full of wrinkles, making him resemble a mortal elder on the brink of death.
He too sat down, leaning against a large boulder, and let out a long sigh.
"Hmm?"
Suddenly, he seemed to sense something and quickly turned his head to look. Not far from where he was, he saw a skeleton leaning against a boulder.
Mo Wangchen slightly furrowed his brows, then immediately walked over to inspect it. This skeleton was well-preserved, unlike the others he had encountered before—which had mostly decayed into bone dust and scattered fragments.
The skeleton was propped up next to the boulder, and beside it, there were several large characters written in fresh blood.
"Enter Reincarnation, seek Reincarnation Way, below Reincarnation Mountain, no... Reincarnation!"
Thirteen characters, all etched in blood, and from them, Mo Wangchen could easily guess they were written by this person just before death—a brief sentence exuding both the despair and helplessness of their final moments.
Enter Reincarnation Mountain, seek the Reincarnation Road!
Throughout the ages, those who stepped into this place did so with the wish to survive, yet in the end, they all buried their bones within.
"In life, this person, even if not an Emperor Realm Great Power, was incredibly close to reaching the Emperor Realm—a strong bloodline that has allowed the skeleton to remain intact and unperished to this day,"
Mo Wangchen muttered to himself while looking at the thirteen blood characters, feeling a mix of emotions within him. Such places were lethal, and whether he could survive this journey or not, he did not know.
But, it was for his sake that Yaoyao became what she is now, and no matter what, he had to traverse that Other Shore Bridge!
Within his Spirit Sea, a constant stream of Spiritual Power surged forth, revitalizing his body. After a short while, he felt some of his strength return. He carried Yaoyao on his back and stepped onto the staircase leading to the solitary peak.
...
The outside world!
It had been half a month since Mo Wangchen had entered Reincarnation Mountain.
Currently, at the edge of Reincarnation Mountain, a large gathering of figures had converged—all Cultivators from the Beiming Land, spectating from this spot.
Among them, many strong members of the Lin Family gathered in groups, intending to enter Reincarnation Mountain to search for Mo Wangchen’s whereabouts, as decided by Lin Mengyao.
Yet, despite half a month passing, waves of strong Lin Family members ventured in, only to return with nothing. They dared not delve too deep and only reached the outer edges of the mountain range. There, the Curse Power was already depleting their bodies, stripping away their Cultivation. If they took even one more step, they would be entirely entombed within it.
"It’s too horrifying. The Great Elder of the Lin Family entered personally. From afar, I saw him age dramatically in an instant. If he had retreated even a moment later, he likely would have died inside."
"It is rumored that within Reincarnation Mountain, there exists a terrifying and mysterious power capable of causing the body to decay, the Cultivation to disappear, and lifespan to slip away. Ordinary Cultivators can barely last a quarter-hour inside before dying of old age. Interestingly, those with certain special physiques seem to be able to sustain themselves longer inside."
"I heard the Lin Family once sent a group with special physiques inside, but they only made it to the edge. Looking into the mountain from a distance, they saw the ground littered with skeletons, not knowing how many had fallen there over time!"
Around them, the crowd buzzed with discussion. They kept their distance, not daring to get too close—the Reincarnation Mountain Range was too terrifying, and even just speaking of it sent chills down everyone’s spine.
