After the True Heiress Travels Back
Chapter 133: Taking a Disciple

Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Taking a Disciple

Quan Jinbei glowered upon hearing Shen Antai’s comments.

"Is your grandson good-looking? Even if he’s good-looking, is he more attractive than me?"

Shen Antai replied defiantly, "Who said he’s not as good-looking as you? Besides, how old are you? My master, Shi Yaoguang, is in the prime of youth, the most beautiful time in life. She should be experiencing a pure romance at her age, not marrying an old man like you!"

The "old man" Quan Jinbei, only six years older than Shi Yaoguang, clenched his molars and said unpleasantly, "Don’t be too sure of yourself. Calling my wife your master? Has my wife acknowledged you?"

Shen Antai’s face suddenly fell.

That’s right.

The immediate priority wasn’t to fuss over the master’s lifelong matters.

The most critical issue was his own request to become a disciple!

With this realization, the old man instantly changed his tactics.

He looked at Shi Yaoguang with a mix of snot and tears, lamenting in a pitiable tone, "Master..."

Quan Jinbei cut him off, "Don’t rush to call her master just yet."

Shen Antai glared at him through clenched teeth and changed his appeal, "Miss Shi, you’ve heard everything, don’t you feel even a bit sorry for this old man? I’m already of such an age, not many years left..."

Quan Jinbei chimed in, "Shen Lao is right, you’re getting on in years. If she were to take you as a disciple, wouldn’t that mean the younger generation sending off the older one?"

Shen Antai argued, "Isn’t that normal?!"

Unless there’s some accident, who would expect the older generation to send off the younger?

Quan Jinbei just smiled without commenting.

Left with no choice, Shen Antai continued with his sob story, and even Shi Yaoguang started to feel a bit of pity for him.

Shen Antai keenly sensed Shi Yaoguang’s softening expression and immediately declared his sincerity, "Master, please accept me as your disciple!"

"I’ve never begged anyone in my life, but now as I am getting old, this is my one and only wish..."

The butler, who had just come over with a tray bearing a teapot, asked in surprise, "Old Master Shen, didn’t you beg me before?"

Shen Antai shot a glance at him, his face the epitome of embarrassment, "That was so many years ago, how can you remember it so clearly?"

Placing down the tray, the butler remarked, "I just happened to hear you say you’ve never begged anyone in your life, so I mentioned it in passing."

Shen Antai: "..."

Angry!

Shi Yaoguang: "..."

This future disciple seemed not too bright.

Inwardly cursing both the butler and Quan Jinbei, Shen Antai’s gaze fell on the teapot the butler had brought.

He stepped forward with rapid hand movements, poured the tea, and then, raising it above his head, offered it to Shi Yaoguang.

"Master, have some tea."

It has to be said, Old Master Shen certainly had thick skin.

Shi Yaoguang felt cornered like a duck being driven onto a perch. There was nothing she could do but accept the tea he offered.

Under the old man’s eager gaze, she reluctantly took a symbolic sip.

The old man immediately beamed with a smile as radiant as chrysanthemums, "Master, you’ve finally agreed to accept me!"

Shi Yaoguang responded softly with an "Mhm."

Overjoyed, Shen Antai turned to the butler, who seemed imposing without understanding why, and waved him over, "Come, help me up."

The butler stepped forward and helped him to his feet.

Sitting down on the sofa, Shen Antai felt the pain in his legs.

"Ouch, I wonder when my leg will get better."

While he spoke, he didn’t forget to sneak peeks at Shi Yaoguang, his intentions clear without words.

Shi Yaoguang, wearing an expression that said she was at a loss for words, retorted, "If you want me to treat your leg, just say so."

Shen Antai immediately brightened with a broad smile, "Master, please help me check my leg~"

Listening to his odd tone, Shi Yaoguang almost couldn’t resist the urge to roll her eyes as she carefully examined the wound on his leg.

Shen Antai, basking in the care from his newly appointed master, stealthily shot Quan Jinbei a provocative glance.

Quan Jinbei, face cold, snorted, "Old Shen, have you successfully taken on a master?"

Shen Antai boasted, "Indeed! My master has acknowledged me!"

"Oh," Quan Jinbei responded indifferently.

Shen Antai felt his attitude was unacceptable, "Aren’t you going to congratulate me?"

Quan Jinbei’s eyebrow lifted slightly, "Congratulate?"

"Hmph," the old gentleman hummed with pride.

The corners of Quan Jinbei’s lips slowly turned up into a smug smile, "Congratulations indeed, but you might have forgotten something."

"What’s that?"

"Now that you’ve recognized a master, I’ve become your mistress," Quan Jinbei said, producing a small jade piece out of thin air, "Call me mistress, and I’ll give you some pocket money for it."

Shen Antai finally remembered this very serious matter.

"You... you sly fox! Isn’t this taking advantage of me?"

Quan Jinbei’s eyes twinkled with amusement, "If Old Shen feels he can’t accept it, I can suggest having you expelled from the sect."

Shen Antai: "..."

His indignant expression collapsed in a second.

He looked incredulously at him, his tone filled with sorrow, "You’re a beast! No, worse than a beast!"

Quan Jinbei couldn’t help but laugh, and took the opportunity to make things difficult for him, "So you mean to say, your master has married a beast? Or someone worse than a beast?"

Shen Antai: "..."

He looked plaintively at Shi Yaoguang, hoping she would seek justice for him.

Shi Yaoguang said, "According to the rules, you really should call him mistress."

Shen Antai: "..."

Quan Jinbei, with a spring in his step, urged him on, "Go on, call."

Shen Antai, reluctantly and with great discomfort, forced out, "Mistress."

Quan Jinbei felt entirely comfortable upon hearing this, replying immediately, "Eh! Good disciple."

Shen Antai: "..."

The old man felt he was about to explode with indignation, grumbling resentfully, "Call what mistress, you’re just settling old scores! Don’t think I don’t know you’re still holding a grudge because I targeted you when we were young. Do you need to remember it for so long?"

After his rant, he started scheming again, looking sincerely at Shi Yaoguang, "Master, I have a suggestion for you."

"What suggestion?"

"Don’t you think the mistress is getting on in years? With him being so ’obsolete,’ how can I, the youthful grandson, compare? How about..."

He didn’t finish his sentence when Quan Jinbei interjected ominously, "Your grandson is young and good-looking? You’ve already become a disciple, and now you want to sell your grandson? Not afraid of messing up the hierarchy?"

Shen Antai stroked his beard, "Look at what you’re saying, we of our age don’t care for such empty formalities."

"Heh."

Quan Jinbei let out a cold chuckle.

Fearing they would start arguing again, Shi Yaoguang, having prepared the medicine for Shen Antai, pushed Quan Jinbei away.

Once on the third floor, Shi Yaoguang asked Quan Jinbei, "Do you and he have some sort of grudge?"

Quan Jinbei looked at her with a sense of grievance, "You’ve taken on a disciple before asking me?"

Shi Yaoguang defended herself righteously, "Didn’t I agree because I saw you didn’t dislike him?"

"Where did you see that I don’t dislike him?"

"You made it quite clear."
