After the True Heiress Travels Back -
Chapter 128 Monkey
Chapter 128: Chapter 128 Monkey
According to Shi Yaoguang’s words, it was already The Last Law World.
The meager amount of Spiritual Energy they usually encountered was what was normal.
Lingyao Mountain, where the Spiritual Energy was so rich, was truly strange.
Shi Yaoguang closed her eyes, released her Divine Sense, and carefully felt around. She discovered that there seemed to be something hidden beneath Lingyao Mountain.
Such an object was the reason for the abundant Spiritual Energy at Lingyao Mountain.
"Do you want to find that object?"
Quan Jinbei asked after listening to her.
Shi Yaoguang shook her head, "Since that object is beneath Lingyao Mountain, there must be a reason for it. For now, I don’t want to look into it."
As soon as she finished speaking, the air suddenly grew colder.
It was as if they had suddenly turned on an air conditioner set to fifty degrees below zero, causing both of them to shiver.
Shi Yaoguang frowned slightly and, holding Quan Jinbei’s wrist, led him in a different direction.
But no matter how they changed direction, the cold air still blew directly at them.
Shi Yaoguang drew a protective array out of thin air, isolating the cold from them.
Quan Jinbei, watching Shi Yaoguang use the Spiritual Energy in front of her to keep the cold away, was full of amazement.
"How did you do that?"
Shi Yaoguang, knowing she was asking about drawing the array out of thin air, explained briefly, "It’s a small technique from the Cultivation World; it’s not something I can do outside of Lingyao Mountain."
Drawing arrays out of thin air could only be done in environments rich with Spiritual Power. In The Last Law World, only Lingyao Mountain had such conditions.
After Shi Yaoguang isolated the cold air, there was no more sound from outside.
However, she still stood in place, and when Jinbei glanced at her again, their hands were tightly clasped together.
Shi Yaoguang raised her eyebrows slightly, "Third Master, what is this?"
"There’s something strange in the mountain; I’m afraid of getting lost," Quan Jinbei calmly justified his actions.
Shi Yaoguang clicked her tongue lightly, which could be taken as an agreement.
"Squeak~"
Quan Jinbei had no chance to appreciate the delicate warmth in his hand when he was startled by the sudden sound.
"Crouch down!"
Shi Yaoguang yelled, hooking his shoulder and pulling him down to crouch.
The moment they crouched, two pebbles were thrown toward where they had been standing.
Quan Jinbei looked back for a moment before looking toward the direction the pebbles had come from.
However, there was nothing there, just emptiness.
"Is this... haunted?" he asked uncertainly.
Shi Yaoguang shook her head, "It’s likely an animal in the mountain that has developed Spirit Intelligence."
Quan Jinbei pursed his lips and tentatively asked, "Does Spirit Intelligence mean... it has become a spirit?"
"Not quite a spirit," Shi Yaoguang briefly explained the situation. "It probably just means it can think now."
After she finished speaking, they saw a monkey hanging upside down from a tree branch opposite them.
The monkey’s fur was glittering gold, but its species was indiscernible.
After swinging a few times on the branch, the monkey landed on the ground.
It then picked up small pebbles and threw them in their direction.
Surprisingly, this time it didn’t aim for their bodies with the stones.
This action rather seemed like a reminder to them.
After throwing a few stones, the monkey began swinging toward the more distant tree branches.
Shi Yaoguang and Quan Jinbei exchanged glances and then followed suit.
The monkey moved forward a bit, then looked back to make sure they were still following, before confidently continuing on.
Unsure how long they walked, the sky gradually darkened, and finally, the monkey stopped.
"Squeak, squeak—" The monkey stood in front of Shi Yaoguang, pointing ahead.
Shi Yaoguang looked ahead. It seemed to be a cliff.
Of course, the cliff was clearly artificially dug.
Testing her guess, Shi Yaoguang asked the monkey, "Do you want us to go down?"
The monkey nodded humanlike in affirmation.
Quan Jinbei furrowed his brows, "What’s down there?"
The monkey seemed to understand and took two steps back, lifted its left foot, and suddenly pretended to fall over.
Its acting was quite exaggerated, but the message was clear.
Somebody had fallen down beneath the artificially dug cliff.
The monkey kept nodding, confirming this guess.
Shi Yaoguang decided to go down and take a look. Quan Jinbei didn’t want to be left behind, "I’ll go with you."
Shi Yaoguang didn’t refuse, although the monkey didn’t seem to have any intention to attack them, she was still not at ease letting Quan Jinbei stay by himself.
After the monkey made its intentions clear, it descended the cliff by clinging to the vines hanging off it.
Shi Yaoguang and the other person followed closely behind.
Once at the bottom of the cliff, they discovered a small cave.
The cave was naturally formed. In it, a fire was burning, and within the flames, an old man with white hair and a white beard lay.
"Squeak, squeak~"
The monkey, seeing Shi Yaoguang standing outside the cave, made a noise as a reminder.
Quan Jinbei took out his phone, its flashlight not overly weak yet not enough to illuminate the entire cave.
Seeing this, Shi Yaoguang suddenly pulled out a Luminous Pearl.
Quan Jinbei: "..."
"Ahem, this is brighter," Shi Yaoguang explained, handing the Luminous Pearl to him.
The Luminous Pearl was half the size of a soccer ball. If the situation hadn’t been so pressing, Quan Jinbei really would have liked to ask how she managed to have such a treasure trove of items.
Using the light from the Luminous Pearl, Shi Yaoguang carefully checked the white-haired old man’s condition.
He seemed to be seriously injured, with broken legs, his body faintly exuding a bloody scent, and he was hanging on to life by a thread.
Once Shi Yaoguang finished her observation, the monkey pressed its hands together, bowed deeply, and with great emotion, beseeched her for help.
Having come all this way, Shi Yaoguang wasn’t about to stand by and watch someone die. As it happened, she had Healing Medicine in her space that she could use right away.
Quan Jinbei volunteered to help apply the medicine to the old man. As they waited for the old man to recover, Shi Yaoguang followed the monkey for a walk around the cave.
She had thought the cave was small, but as she walked deeper she discovered an entirely different world.
In the deepest part of the cave, there was a well.
Shi Yaoguang stood at the edge of the well and looked in. She could see a Spiritual Power vortex at its bottom.
Although she didn’t know how the Spiritual Power vortex had formed, just the fact that there was a vortex was enough to confirm that the well was a Spiritual Spring.
"I never expected to find a Spiritual Spring here," Shi Yaoguang said offhandedly, feeling no greed for the Spring.
The monkey, on the other hand, pointed at the Spiritual Spring and squeaked incessantly, but its intentions were unclear.
Before long, the old man woke up.
"You are..."
The old man had thought he’d die here, silently and unnoticed.
Unexpectedly, upon waking, he saw a pair of man and woman, looking like celestial beings, standing before him.
"It was it that brought us here to save you," said Shi Yaoguang, pointing in the direction of the monkey. Then she introduced herself, "My surname is Shi, and this is my husband. May I ask how you happened to be here, sir?"
Upon hearing this, the old man sighed deeply, "Ah... I heard there was a Spiritual Treasure discovered here, and I came especially in search of the treasure. I encountered danger on the way and woke up here."
"Spiritual Treasure?" Shi Yaoguang caught onto the key point, "How did you know there was a Spiritual Treasure here?"
The old man hesitated, "I..."
