After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World -
Chapter 1372 - 1372: Before Chris’ Wedding (Part 2)
"Welcome to Ankol Chwis and Awntee Adeetee's wedding!" Theo said to the new set of newcomers.
He was very demure and gentlemanly, and it melted people's hearts. He stood dutifully near the gate to do his duty, not showing impatience at all.
"Wow, is this Little Theo?" the lady squealed. "So handsome!"
"Thank you, Miss, you aw awso wooking wondewful," he said, looking like an adorable little gentleman (with front baby tooth missing and all), and the nearby women's motherly instincts were triggered so much they couldn't help but surround the little boy.
Kyaaaaa~
Nearby, three adult men ended up on the side, watching the child. "He's such a good boy," Ramil said, turning to Beanie. "You raised him well."
The little boy was so precocious in his age. He never gave the adults any trouble, except for maybe melting their hearts.
He was also adorably calm about losing a front tooth. Most kids would be embarrassed, right? Not him. The moment Little Pepper giggled upon sight of it, he didn't mind showing it off anymore.
Beanie's eyes fixed on his son, who was now hugged and admired by the ladies who were definitely having baby fever today (their husbands were very lucky).
Despite the amusing sight, Beanie felt a bit teary, instead. He shook his head in response to the in-law's compliments.
"I didn't do anything," he said, his voice cracking. "It was all Priya."
Speaking of this, how they found out about the relationship was a lucky coincidence.
Theo was being adorable as always, playing in a random park. It so happened that Raj was taking a woman out on a date at the time.
Her name was Sora, who had moved to Alterra from Belluga Village a couple of months ago. They met when Aditi forced him to join her in one of Fable's concerts (Chris, at the time, was on a long-term mission), and Sora was one of the groupies there.
She also became Aditi's fast friends, and somehow they ended up being pushed to go on a few dates, though Raj had to admit he enjoyed them.
Anyway, outside the concerts, Sora was (amusingly) a nice and demure lady who wanted simple things, so they were just walking in the park with their skewered snacks.
The prospective couple sat down on one of the bigger benches there as they finished their food, leisurely taking their time, not noticing there was another person sitting on the same bench.
"Such adorable children," the woman said, giving Raj a look. "I think it's so great that we can see them living carefree and living as kids," she said. "Alterra is really the perfect place to raise children."
Raj's eyebrows rose as he looked at her. "Hmn, it is," he said.
"How are you with kids?"
"I'd say I'm pretty good," he said. "My mother taught us some of the basics, as well as how difficult it is to raise a child alone as a mother.
"I'd like to believe that whoever ends up marrying me will have a relatively easier life as a mother."
"That sounds very attractive."
"Because it is."
The two tried to hold back their smiles.
At some point, the kids passed by near them, and Raj caught a closer look at Theo.
"He really looked a lot like cousin Priya when she was a toddler," Raj said, feeling a bit melancholic. He turned to Sora to tell the story. "She's a bit younger and was very close to Aditi. I do often wonder where she is now…"
Before Sora could reply, a voice beside them sounded. "You know Priya?"
He turned to see Beanie, looking at him with wide eyes as he sat on the other end of the bench.
Raj blinked. When Beanie asked what her maiden name was, they confirmed they were speaking about the same person.
"You also know her?"
"I… Priya… she is my wife!"
A tearful reunion happened then, which ended up with Raj cutting the date off in advance (Sora was very understanding) so he dragged Beanie and Theo to the house to get caught up.
To think they could find family like this!!
Priya and Beanie actually eloped, so Beanie had never met any of her family except maybe for her father who had once threatened him to leave her alone—to not threaten her bright future.
Her parents absolutely refused to acknowledge him.
And he couldn't blame them, either.
He, at the time, was a nobody who wasn't even handsome. He did not have anything to his name—he did not even have parents, with his adoptive parents passing away almost one after the other, a few years prior, and months apart.
Anyway, Priya's parents were 100% convinced that he got her on something, possibly witchcraft.
Priya was insistent on him for reasons he still did not fully understand. But he loved her more than life so he took her offer to elope, just swearing to make sure she would never regret her decision.
He never did know for sure if she truly never regretted it, however.
In the end, they went abroad and cut contact. Beanie could still remember the times when Priya would look at something that reminded her of family, and she would fall into a daze. Her eyes would be a bit red, but no tears would come out.
Sometimes, late at night, she would hear her sniffle, and he knew she was feeling homesick.
It wasn't that he didn't do anything to attempt their rekindling. It was just that Priya found out about it and stopped him. Their life wasn't very good—with them struggling to feed the family. If they found out about it, according to her, she could get taken away.
Beanie naturally couldn't bear it, and when they found out she was pregnant, he didn't push again, lest she get too stressed out.
But he knew a different story from the brothers and Aditi.
Apparently, Priya's parents were steadfast and didn't show much regret after the first few years, at least outwardly. However, they aged fast when she left and they both died of heartbreak, one after the other, not long before the migration.
They then found unsent letters to Priya in their room, all filled with apologies and pleas to return. However, it seemed like their pride stopped them both from sending anything.
It was heartbreaking, a tragedy, and the men all couldn't help but drown themselves in alcohol. Aditi, while sad, did not drink (she disliked the taste) so she just smiled as they started swimming in tears while she took care of Theo.
At the time, Aditi gently poked the boy's nose. She also looked forward to having her own Theo.
"You are so adorable," she had said at the time. "I see you charming every little lady you come across."
"Thank ywou, antee Adeetee," he said, though definitely not knowing what she meant.
She giggled. She just wanted to distract him.
The little boy was also obviously sad at the remembrance of his mother, but he was calm, unlike his father, at least outwardly so. After all, if he cried, then his father might not be able to cry as much as he wanted.
Thinking of it this way, Aditi's heart clenched. She remembered Priya, too, and she was so similarly mature and wise and captured people's hearts so easily.
She couldn't help but embrace the sweet little boy.
"Your mum would be so proud of you."
