After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World -
Chapter 1363 - 1363: Cauis of the Glen Family
Much, much, later that night, inside one of the Premier Inns of the territory, a certain city dweller listened to the reports of his subordinates.
He was sitting leisurely in the room's small dining room, drinking the tea his servants brought with them.
In contrast, his subordinates were the paragon of seriousness, standing straight and formal as they reported what they had found over the past half day.
Some had pretended to be normal townsfolk or interacted with the servants of the visitors, which wasn't difficult as they had been trained to gather information well. There were also those who joined some ranked people in Voumi for drinks, getting information out of them, too.
On the other hand, some had gone to the Post Office to send messages to their affiliates and acquaintances from various territories—particularly those in the East—to gather more information.
They were from one of the most important Cities in the world. Of course, there were many people willing to feed them connections via a few Posts. They only had to use the master's name, and many of the correspondents would send much more information than what Mafo's people would've been able to gather in a month.
Further, the family name itself was known to many people, so the Post Office staff wouldn't even know they were from Holt City at all.
"What we found about Twinwave Town and the so-called Alterra is as follows…" the servant began.
"First, it seems like Twinwave Town has been earning a reputation for selling a new set of products in the region. The most popular are a set of condiments and sauces.
"Many people claim that it is even better than what Holt produces, especially since they were much more affordable."
His eyebrows rose at this. "Oh?"
Cauis looked at him, making him flinch. "Granted, Holt still had specialty products that cannot be replicated. After all, we have special methods for those."
This was not a lie. Although Holt had a lot of products that could have alternatives throughout the entire Human realm, there were also those that were impossible to match due to the unique ingredients and/or methodologies to create them.
Cauis' face didn't change and he just continued to sip. For a moment, there was silence.
At this, another servant—the highest-ranked servant with him—added with a blank expression on his face.
"Of course, we still have to check if it is true. Not many people in this side can say they are fully familiar with Holt City's array of products, after all. They might be saying so out of ignorance."
This was Mattheo, a dark-haired man with sharp features and a perennially deadpan expression on his face.
He had been with Cauis since he was young. At the time, he was a mere slave who had the honor to serve as his valet. Now, decades later, he was his right-hand man.
Cauis nodded. "And the other?"
"According to some acquaintances from Ferrol Town, Alterra Town is a Level 1 Town that had upgraded a few weeks ago," he said. "They are a part of the latest civilization who transferred here, and the region appeared around a thousand kilometers away East from here."
Cauis was about to take a sip, but his movements paused. "The new Civilization that appeared hundreds of years too early…," he said, talking more to himself than others.
"So they are the Migrators that came a year ago? They're already a Town?"
"Yes, Master."
"Quite impressive," he said, his spectacles glinting a bit.
It was much faster than Bleuelle, which was famous for its speed in upgrading.
There were plenty of factors to Bleulle's growth, and a lot of it attributed to luck. Although Bleulle was very far from being a great City, it was still the fastest in history to become one, which was something the people there took pride on.
Curious. What about this new place? How did they do it?
At this time, another person also shared what he had gathered. "It apparently has a large array of products unique to it. "It could range from different types of cloth, tools, and a few weapons, too.
"Of course, these are all for Village or early-Town markets.
"However, a great majority of the products they export are food-related. It ranges from specially-treated dried meat and pickled vegetables to food with long shelf life," the man paused. "They also sold sauces and condiments—much like what Holt City offers."
"Is it similar to what Twinwave Town offers?"
"We do not know for sure yet but it seems so, according to the descriptions," the servant said.
"How long has Twinwave Town been known for their new products?" he asked, talking to the servant who interacted with the other auctioneers and their servants.
"It seems to be a couple of months, Master," the man answered. "According to the people South of here, they had been raving about the products not long after the Heat Wave."
"Then it is safe to assume Twinwave gets from Alterra," he said, his well-formed fingers having long let go of his cup and were now tapping the surface of the table in thought.
"It's interesting. Twinwave is in, by no means, near this Alterra and they had already created such partnerships…" he said.
Further, a few months ago, that Alterra still seemed to be a Village, but it got an established Level 2 Town to go all the way there and buy a large bulk of its products.
"Did any of you manage to secure some samples?"
The men looked at each other, embarrassed. There… was none.
According to the servants, when they got the informants drunk in the tavern, some even got emotional when they asked this question.
Apparently, those people, as soon as they got the items, would consume them.
Even if they promised to consume the items slowly, they ended up not following through. It had caused a lot of distress, and even in-fighting within a family.
Even they found themselves a little curious…
Alterra… what kind of place was it?
