After Prison, She Shocks the World -
Chapter 41 I Hold Grudges
Chapter 41: Chapter 41 I Hold Grudges
"I wouldn’t dare."
"I went through such hardship to have my five sons, and look how she has bullied every single one of them!"
"I also heard that if she can’t marry Qin Jinhai, she plans to marry one of my five sons!"
"It’s one thing to torment Qin Jinhai—but why should my five sons be subjected to her torment?"
Wu Shi knocked over his teacup.
He began to cough quietly.
Han Liying, being close to him, didn’t hesitate to pat his back.
Wu Shi looked at Han Liying with an inscrutable expression.
What does it mean that tormenting Qin Jinhai is acceptable?
What am I in their eyes that anyone can torment me?
Fu Bing chuckled. "I also think Su Kexin and Qin Jinhai are quite suited to be tied together."
Han Liying’s eyes darted around. "How about this: I call Su Kexin back, use a portion of the Su Family’s assets as her dowry, and make it so Qin Jinhai has no choice but to marry her?"
Su Jiang quickly interrupted her, "That won’t be necessary."
"Why not?"
"Qin Sheng won’t allow Qin Jinhai to marry a Su family girl."
"And why is that?"
"Qin Jinhai is an outcast of the Qin Family, with no claim to the position of family head."
"Then who will inherit the Qin Family?" Han Liying wondered.
"His eldest brother."
"It’s not that I lack confidence in Qin Jinmo, but he doesn’t strike me as someone capable of handling major affairs. He might manage small fortunes, but he can’t maintain the family estate."
"You only saw him a few times during his childhood. Are you so certain he hasn’t improved over the years?"
"Some things simply don’t change." Han Liying looked at Fu Bing. "Take Xiaobing, for example. One glance at her, and you know she’s destined to shine brightly, no matter what difficulties she encounters. She can endure anything. That’s an inherent quality, not something one can acquire later in life."
Han Liying sighed. "If your relationship with Qin Jinhai weren’t so strained, you two would be a perfect match!"
Speechless, Su Jiang rubbed his forehead. "What are you saying in front of the child?"
Since Fu Bing was the same age as Su Kexin, she was roughly the same age as their own daughter, so calling her a child wasn’t entirely out of place.
Fu Bing’s expression stiffened slightly before she smiled. "It seems your health has truly improved; you even have the energy for gossip now."
"I’m just particularly interested in you," Han Liying stated, not feeling the least bit embarrassed.
The Su Family’s dinner party commenced promptly at eight o’clock.
The affair wasn’t excessively lavish, but it was opulent where it counted.
Ten culinary teams, totaling 280 chefs, were dedicated to preparing the evening’s feast.
A spread of both Chinese and Western cuisine was available.
Even the most common bottle of wine was valued at a minimum of one million.
As for the tableware and porcelain, their quality went without saying.
Lights had also been specially arranged in the gardens for guests to stroll and enjoy.
Even though the guests all hailed from distinguished backgrounds, they were still astounded by the Su Family’s ostentatious display of wealth.
They increasingly felt that attending tonight was the right decision, bestowing upon them a great deal of honor.
Not wishing to disturb Han Liying further, Fu Bing left with Wu Shi.
Su Junling had already sequestered herself in the ’little black room’ to work on post-production for her film and was not attending the banquet.
Of the Su brothers, only Su Junxian and Su Junzhe were present.
The names of the other two Su children had never even been publicly disclosed, and very few people had ever seen them.
The Su Family’s differing attitudes towards their five sons had already conveyed a great deal.
This generation of the Su Family was expected to be entrusted to Su Junxian and Su Junzhe, who would manage the family’s affairs jointly.
Fu Bing and Wu Shi, not particularly interested in socializing, made a beeline for the food area as soon as they left the courtyard.
Fu Bing piled her plate high.
Wu Shi watched her, amused.
She didn’t have a large appetite, but when faced with delicious food, she wanted to sample a bit of everything.
There wasn’t a single duplicate item on her heaping plate.
Observing her carefully, Wu Shi deliberately selected items for his own plate that she hadn’t chosen.
"A couple of country bumpkins!"
A cold snort came from behind them.
Fu Bing turned to look.
It was Liang Shaoqi.
Fu Bing waved to the butler. "Throw him out."
"You... on what grounds?"
"On the grounds that you’ve displeased me!"
Liang Shaoqi retorted, "Do you really think this is your house? The Su Family merely showed you a little favor. What are you so smug about?"
"I’m not being smug. I just don’t want you to disturb my meal or that of the other guests."
Liang Shaoqi tried to say more, but the butler was already approaching with security personnel.
Having witnessed the scene at the Su Family’s main gate, the crowd had learned their lesson.
They automatically parted, clearing a path.
The butler stopped and, without a word, immediately had the security personnel grab Liang Shaoqi by each arm. They dragged him from the banquet hall and tossed him out the main gate.
The crowd was aghast.
Seeing Wu Shi standing frozen, staring at her, Fu Bing smiled and asked, "What’s wrong?"
Wu Shi put down his plate and began to type.
"That wasn’t like you just now."
"He bullied me the day I was released from prison. I hold grudges."
Wu Shi pursed his lips.
Fu Bing squinted, a smile playing on her lips. "It’s rare to get a chance to be imperious, so I leveraged their influence."
Wu Shi looked down and typed.
"You are not a dog."
Fu Bing was speechless. It was the first time she thought Wu Shi’s muteness was a good thing, as it spared her from being choked up by his words.
Witnessing this, the guests immediately and discreetly distanced themselves from Fu Bing and Wu Shi.
An actor is just an actor; give them a little limelight, and they get carried away.
The dinner was halfway through.
Su Jiang walked onto the stage and cleared his throat.
Everyone ceased their conversations and turned their attention to Su Jiang on the stage.
"Most of you probably have some idea of the Su Family’s purpose in resuming the Sully dinner party. There are two matters I wish to announce tonight."
The crowd held their breath, waiting for Su Jiang’s next words.
"First, my wife recently regained consciousness and has now recovered her health. Today, we are gathered to celebrate her return to my side."
"And the second?" Su Jiang’s gaze swept over the crowd, landing on Fu Bing and Wu Shi, who were engrossed in their food in a corner.
Previously, he would have found such behavior highly inappropriate, ill-mannered, and uncultured.
But after Liying awoke, he found Fu Bing’s actions rather endearing.
Because Liying liked her, he found himself liking her too.
The crowd followed Su Jiang’s gaze.
Fu Bing noticed, set down her knife and fork, and looked at Su Jiang.
Su Jiang smiled and continued, "Second, I wish to introduce Miss Fu to all of you. She first saved my mother, and then she saved my wife. A few days ago, my younger brother’s young son suddenly fell unconscious and was issued several critical condition notices by the hospital. It was Fu Bing who took enormous risks to save him.
"I, Su Jiang, hereby declare that Miss Fu will forever be the most honored guest of the Su Family. Henceforth, should Miss Fu ever require the assistance of the Su Family, we will be at her service."
Everyone’s eyes widened.
The Su Family had always guarded its affairs closely.
They had only heard that Fu Bing had fortuitously saved the Su matriarch and had then brazenly promoted her medicines, making a considerable fortune.
They hadn’t realized Fu Bing could actually heal.
Yang Ningzheng smiled from within the crowd.
Their company’s medicine is going to sell like hotcakes again.
Fu Bing nodded, acknowledging the announcement. Su Jiang did not compel her to come onto the stage.
Su He had been busy socializing and only now found a moment to approach Fu Bing.
"Miss Fu, I didn’t have a chance to thank you properly before. Now that you’re here today, I’d like to ask if you could spare some time to visit Xiaobao in the other courtyard. He’s been somewhat listless these past few days, and I don’t feel comfortable having anyone else examine him."
"It might be due to the recent sultry weather; opening a window for ventilation could help. Also, avoid using incense or any scented products around him. His airways are more sensitive than other children’s. If you pay attention to these aspects, he should be fine."
"Yes, yes, thank you, Miss Fu."
The onlookers were so shocked their eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
Su He was known for ignoring people and being exceptionally arrogant, leveraging his handsome features and family background to constantly surround himself with women.
To him, women were like clothes, easily discarded.
This was the first time they had ever seen him behave so respectfully towards a woman.
Li Hua also suppressed his disgust and hostility, smiling very gently as he thanked Fu Bing.
Wu Shi lowered his gaze, his fingers tapping on his smartphone screen.
A moment later, Su He’s phone rang.
He pulled it out and froze on the spot.
