Chapter 97: Chapter 83 Resolution
Everyone didn’t expect Chen Feng to suddenly hit someone, especially Wu Jinwei himself.
Chen Feng, an outsider who spoke Mandarin, had encountered many like him before. Regardless of whether they were rich or not, when they met these local people who obviously looked wealthy, they’d automatically be more polite.
If he let slip a bit about his local connections, these outsiders would be even more wary.
But today, he ran into Chen Feng, an aberration who didn’t play by the rules. They hadn’t even started a fight, yet the other party struck first.
This slap had completely dazed Wu Jinwei.
It took him a long while to come to his senses, and he shouted, "You motherfucker! I’m going to cripple you today!"
With that, he charged at Chen Feng, launching a kick, only for Chen Feng to casually step aside, causing him to kick the air and tumble backward, hitting the ground hard and not getting up for a good long time.
Looking at Wu Jinwei’s physique, he appeared to weigh about the same as Chen Feng, but he was only around 1.7 meters tall and looked like he had overindulged in alcohol, making him no match for Chen Feng in a real fight.
Chen Feng had no intention of taking advantage of the situation to beat him up.
Civilized society, after all, doesn’t endorse fighting.
As for why he had slapped him, it was because the other party insulted him first, prompting him to respond with a slap, purely as an insult rather than a beating.
It was, in fact, tit for tat.
What was somewhat amusing was that Wu Jinwei lay on the ground for a long time without getting up, and his girlfriend stood by, watching indifferently without offering a hand to help him up.
"Wang Xiaorong, are you not going to help me up, you fucker?" Wu Jinwei glared at her in fury.
Wang Xiaorong snorted coldly, "You deserve it. I asked you to help me pull away that stinky woman, and you just stood there enjoying the show."
"You fucker..."
Wu Jinwei was so angry his face turned ashen, but in such a public place, he didn’t want to argue with his own woman and become the laughing stock of others.
In fact, they were already the butt of the joke. About twenty onlookers surrounded them, and many were smiling at the sight of him lying on the ground.
Eventually, Wu Jinwei got up by himself. He had fallen hard on his butt and felt like he had twisted his hip.
"You’re something else, kid!" Wu Jinwei looked at Chen Feng with a furious but mirthless laugh, "I’m telling you, this isn’t over. Just wait to go to jail."
Chen Feng remained quite composed, simply playing with his phone and not sparing Wu Jinwei a glance.
He had been recording, which was evidence somewhat in his favor.
The guy looked formidable, but he had zero personal combat effectiveness.
Chen Feng hadn’t even started fighting, and he had already been laid out and couldn’t get up.
Seeing Chen Feng ignoring him, Wu Jinwei was furious again but didn’t dare to resort to violence.
Instead, he took out his phone and made a call, jabbering away to someone on the other end in the local dialect.
Eventually, the sound of a police siren approached, and a police car sped to the scene, with several officers getting out.
"Officer, I want to report him for assault," Wu Jinwei said awkwardly as he walked up to greet the officers, raising his hand and shouting loudly in the local language.
"Who called the police?" a commanding middle-aged uniformed officer asked sternly.
"I did."
Chen Feng raised his hand, then stepped forward to proactively explain the situation to the officer.
Now Wu Mengting and the involved party Lin Wan also came over. Lin Wan quickly added to the account and even rolled up her pant leg to show the bruise on her calf to everyone.
After they finished with their account, the lead officer then questioned Wu Jinwei and Wang Xiaorong. They basically had no objections to Lin Wan’s account, as the facts couldn’t be refuted.
However, Wang Xiaorong still insisted that Lin Wan had deliberately seduced her boyfriend first, and in her anger, she kicked her. She was willing to pay some medical expenses but refused to apologize.
Naturally, Lin Wan wouldn’t have it. She insisted on receiving an apology plus compensation for medical expenses, missed work, emotional distress, and damage to her reputation.
"So both parties refuse to settle?" the lead officer asked.
Wang Xiaorong coldly stated, "I refuse."
"I refuse too," Lin Wan quickly followed.
"Okay, then come with us to the station to make a statement."
After finishing speaking, the lead officer closed his notebook and turned to walk toward the police car.
"Officer, what about me? He just assaulted me; I want to press charges."
Wu Jinwei hurriedly followed, shouting again in the local language.
The lead officer paused, turning with a slight frown, "Come with us to the station to make your statement. Everyone else disperse!"
Thus, the parties followed the police car to the station.
Chen Feng was in one vehicle, and Wu Jinwei was in another.
Only, Chen Feng’s car was an Enclave worth a couple of hundred thousand, while the other party’s was a Land Rover costing over six hundred thousand.
As soon as Wu Jinwei saw Chen Feng’s car, he showed a look of disdain and felt much more certain in his heart.
He had been slightly worried that Chen Feng, with all his bluster, might have some powerful relatives or friends locally or might be a formidable outsider himself. But now, looking at his car, those concerns seemed unworthy.
While the value of a car doesn’t necessarily measure a person’s strength or financial resources completely, at least ninety percent of the time it does.
Both parties arrived at the local police station without issue.
In accordance with procedure, everyone gave their statements. The incident where Lin Wan was kicked by Wang Xiaorong was straightforward and did not constitute a criminal case or a violation of public security laws.
