Chapter 86: Chapter 76 Gap

The next day, they didn’t get out of bed until the sun was high in the sky.

Both emerged from the villa at Red Villa Bay together, by which time it was already noon.

They had yet to cook in the villa, so they had to continue eating out.

After lunch, Chen Feng had planned to call the moving company, but Xiao Ya said she didn’t have much stuff and could fit everything in her car, so she preferred to move by herself.

Seeing her trying to save money, Chen Feng certainly couldn’t refuse.

So, they went to Xiao Ya’s rental apartment.

The living conditions here were clearly a notch below Wu Mengting and Sun Xiaorui’s place, being an old complex, a single room of just over forty square meters with very basic decoration, the walls only covered with wallpaper that was starting to mold and peel in many places; even the faucets and the toilet were very old. Nevertheless, the monthly rent was still two thousand five hundred.

No wonder Xiao Ya had many complaints about the landlord, deciding not to inform the landlord about her move until the tenancy was up in over ten days.

Xiao Ya really didn’t have much stuff, hardly any large items at all. A laptop would be considered a large item.

Therefore, it only took them five or six trips together to finish moving. The trunk of the car wasn’t even fully packed.

"OK! Let’s go. First to the market, there’s one just over a hundred meters from here. We’ll do some major shopping today and start cooking for real in the new house."

Xiao Ya seemed very happy. Compared to this dilapidated rental, she had every reason to be thrilled about moving to the villa in Red Villa Bay.

They drove to the market she mentioned and bought quite a lot of groceries as per her wishes—seafood, fish, shrimp, pork, chicken, duck, and some beef as well as plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Of course, Chen Feng was the one who paid the bill, which came to over eight hundred. The beef and seafood were particularly expensive.

"All right. Let’s go home."

Chen Feng carried several bags in both hands, and so did Xiao Ya.

Seeing her so high-spirited, Chen Feng found it quite amusing. Perhaps she had never spent so freely on groceries before.

Back at the villa in Red Villa Bay, the two were busy for a while. First, they stored the groceries in the kitchen, and lucky for them, the fridge there was big enough to fit everything with room to spare.

Then they helped set up her moved-in belongings. After a bustling hour, it was nearly over.

Chen Feng sat down to rest in the living room, while Xiao Ya, full of fight, went to the kitchen intending to cook a satisfying meal for Chen Feng.

On the way back, Xiao Ya repeatedly emphasized to him that she used to cook meals frequently when she lived alone.

However, as she was by herself, she never really got serious about it, usually just cooking one or two dishes at a time, often steaming them directly in the rice cooker while cooking rice.

In any case, she wanted to reverse the accidental image she’d given of not knowing how to cook.

Since Chen Feng liked women who were skilled in the kitchen, if she didn’t meet this standard, she would clearly lose points.

Chen Feng, of course, was willing to believe her and he had some small hopes inside.

However, after waiting for nearly two hours, Xiao Ya finally finished cooking three dishes.

Yes, just three dishes, one of which was steamed alongside the rice, pickled vegetables steamed with pork. The other two dishes were stir-fried mushrooms with greens and tomato scrambled eggs.

Chen Feng was somewhat speechless seeing only these three dishes. But, after all, she had toiled in the kitchen for two hours, what could he say?

"You start eating, I’ll go and fry a couple more dishes," Xiao Ya said, somewhat embarrassed and cautious.

Chen Feng could only wave his hand and say, "It’s okay. There are only the two of us. Three dishes are enough."

"Really enough?"

"Yeah, that plate of steamed pork with pickled vegetables is a large bowl. And you don’t eat much anyway."

"That’s true, then let’s just eat this for now. It’s been a long time since I cooked, I’m a little slow. Once I get used to it, I’ll be faster."

"Hmm, let’s eat."

Xiao Ya hurried to serve rice for them both.

Chen Feng tried the stir-fried mushrooms with greens first, the dish looked quite appealing, with the greens shiny and bright. However, upon tasting it, it was a bit salty, but still edible.

"How is it?" Xiao Ya asked nervously.

Chen Feng spoke the truth, "It’s a bit too salty, and you skimped on the sugar. Is this the taste preferred where you come from?"

Xiao Ya nodded quickly, "Yes. Where we come from, dishes tend to be saltier than other places."

"Too salty is not good. From now on, cook with less salt. Add a little more sugar, but not too much; neither unsweet nor overly sweet works. Of course, not every dish requires sugar. You’ll have to figure that out slowly on your own."

Chen Feng wouldn’t compromise his own tastes and promptly outlined his preferences for homemade dishes to her.

Xiao Ya, knowing her place, nodded quickly, "Okay, I will make the adjustments."

Chen Feng then tasted two other dishes, the steamed meat with pickled mustard greens was quite good, but the scrambled eggs with tomatoes were average.

For her first time cooking for him, achieving this level was pretty good. Naturally, it was mainly the result of her efforts for nearly two hours.

Chen Feng had to acknowledge her thoughtfulness.

"The steamed meat with pickled mustard greens tastes good, and the scrambled eggs with tomatoes are passable too. Keep up the good work in the future," he encouraged.

Hearing Chen Feng say this, Xiao Ya couldn’t help but smile.

"As long as you like it."

"Good, now you eat too."

"Okay."

The two began to eat, Chen Feng had two bowls of rice, focusing mainly on the meat. Xiao Ya did eat the other two dishes. In the end, almost all three dishes were finished; indeed, three dishes were enough for the both of them.

But in reality, when living with Sun Xiaorui, each meal consisted of at least five dishes, a balanced mix of meat and vegetables, along with soup to drink.

In this regard, Xiao Ya truly fell short.

So, once Sun Xiaorui returned, he would mostly be living with her again.

After eating, Chen Feng went to watch TV first, while Xiao Ya cleaned up the table and the dishes.

At this moment, the gap between her and Sun Xiaorui became apparent.

If it were Sun Xiaorui, she would have already brought him brewed tea, along with washed fruits and snacks by this time.

Xiao Ya completely lacked this level of service awareness.

Alas! One really shouldn’t compare people.

It took Xiao Ya half an hour of washing up in the kitchen before she finished, and then she remembered the fruit, which she washed, cut up, and brought over for them to eat together.

In Chen Feng’s view, it was obviously because she wanted the fruit herself that she brought some for him as well.

It just felt different.

However, there was only one Sun Xiaorui. Now that she wasn’t with him, Chen Feng had to make do with living alongside Xiao Ya for the time being.

"I’m planning to look for a job at a milk tea shop tomorrow. What do you think?" Xiao Ya asked while eating an apple.

"I don’t mind. You decide for yourself," he replied.

"Good, I’ll work at a milk tea shop first and once I’m skilled, I plan to open my own. You promised me you would invest when the time comes," she reminded him.

"I have to see your business plan first. If I don’t think it’s good enough, I won’t invest, but if I think it is viable, then I’ll invest," he stated.

"Do I have to write up a business plan?" Xiao Ya asked with a pout, playing coy.

Chen Feng shook his head.

"Alright then. But you can’t intentionally fail me. After all, I’ll be working hard, and that’s for at least one or two months. You can’t play me like that," she warned.

"Don’t worry. If I think you’re capable at that time, I’ll definitely invest in you," he reassured.

Relieved by Chen Feng’s words, Xiao Ya then smiled and gave him a kiss.

Seeing this, Chen Feng inwardly shook his head. Compared to Sun Xiaorui, her ambition, or rather her business mindset, was much more apparent. It hadn’t been many days since they’d gotten close, and she was already thinking of getting him to spend hundreds of thousands to open a shop.
