Chen Feng was close to death, so of course, he had no thoughts about Wu Mengting, the beautiful editor.

The reason he agreed to be her guide was simply because they had met and could be considered friends.

Additionally, he was getting bored staying home alone and wanted to get some fresh air.

It was past three in the afternoon when they came down from the mountain and drove back through Qingpu, passing through the county town. On her suggestion, they went to an arcade and had a blast for over an hour.

During that time, Chen Feng’s lucky buff seemed still in effect; he won plush toys from the claw machine, usually with just two game coins each, snagging three for her in one go. Wu Mengting clapped and cheered with joy.

Finally, as more people started to gather, they decided to quit while they were ahead and left.

On the way back to Qingpu, Chen Feng drove while Wu Mengting, with a beaming smile on her face, clutched the three stuffed animals and wouldn’t let go.

"I had so much fun today! I haven’t been this happy in a long time, thank you, Brother Feng," Wu Mengting said, turning her face towards Chen Feng, still smiling as she drove.

"Me too."

Chen Feng smiled back in response.

Then silence fell between them, and the atmosphere turned a bit awkward.

As the car approached Qingpu Town, Chen Feng suddenly said, "Let’s part ways here. We’ll meet again in Xiu Zhou if there’s a chance."

Qingpu Town was located between the county town and the city district. Taking the national highway from there to the city was conveniently on the way.

Wu Mengting was stunned for a moment before speaking in a melancholic tone, "I’m really tired from climbing the mountain today and don’t feel like driving."

"Alright then. I’ll take you to a guesthouse in the town to rest for the night. You can leave on your own tomorrow – I won’t come to see you off," Chen Feng said casually.

After a moment of silence, Wu Mengting suddenly said, "I want to have dinner at your house, is that okay?"

Chen Feng was instantly at a loss for words.

Previously, he thought he had some kind of misunderstanding or misperception because, during the hike today, he had noticed several times that her glances at him were somewhat off – they were definitely the looks of love.

As someone who had experienced several relationships before, Chen Feng was no stranger to that kind of look from a woman.

Later, when they had reached the game arcade, and Chen Feng had won her several plush toys, her gaze towards him became even more peculiar, filled with admiration but even more so with a different kind of sparkle.

Chen Feng told himself that it might just be his imagination, but he had also subconsciously started to keep his distance from her.

But then, Wu Mengting directly proposed to go to his house, which almost certainly confirmed it – she was interested in him.

Chen Feng couldn’t help but heave a silent sigh. If it wasn’t for the fact that he was nearing death, encountering a pure beauty like Wu Mengting, only a fool would reject her.

But how could he possibly pursue anything further with her now? Wouldn’t that be harming her?

"Your request is too unexpected, and my home isn’t prepared. How about next time?"
