Chapter 241: Chapter 153: Belly Fat and Abdominal Muscle Definition
Chen Feng didn’t know who this bald middle-aged man was, but he was certain of one thing: this man couldn’t possibly be her husband.
Although the man looked to be in his forties and was actually not bad-looking, his shiny bald head really spoiled the scenery, and he exuded a rough, uncultivated air—a type of man Mengyao definitely wouldn’t fancy.
As for being her dad, judging by his age, that seemed unlikely, too; he was too young.
Mengyao was nearly thirty, so her dad should be in his early fifties at least.
Therefore, Chen Feng guessed that the bald man might be one of her relatives, like an uncle or something.
"Alright, go hang out with your friends," Mengyao said impatiently to the bald man.
"We’ve only met once since you’ve been back for so many days. Can’t you stay and chat more with me now that we’ve run into each other?" The bald middle-aged man looked somewhat hurt and cast a deep glance at Chen Feng after speaking.
Chen Feng could clearly sense strong jealousy in his eyes, which made him doubt the man’s identity again.
"Let’s talk next time. I have old classmates to accompany, don’t I? You should go join your friends," Mengyao said casually.
"Then how about you come home for dinner tonight? I’ll ask your aunt to make your favorite dishes," the bald middle-aged man said, looking at Mengyao with hope.
"I might not be free tonight," Mengyao frowned slightly but, seeing his pitiful look, eventually softened a bit, "I’ll try to make it."
"Great, great. I’ll call you tonight," the bald man suddenly beamed, "Remember to come, okay? I won’t disturb you any longer, I’ll be off now, you two have a good chat."
Lastly, he nodded politely to Chen Feng before turning to leave.
Chen Feng was bewildered by their conversation and, once the bald middle-aged man was gone, couldn’t help but ask, "He couldn’t be your... dad, right? He looks too young."
Mengyao nodded, "Yes, my dad. He had me when he was seventeen and is only forty-seven this year."
"No way! Your dad is that awesome?"
Chen Feng was outright shocked.
Mengyao sighed, "My birth was an accident for my parents; they were only seventeen or eighteen and too young. They had a shotgun wedding, and while there was some affection, it wasn’t very deep. Most of my childhood memories are of them arguing or even physically fighting.
So, after I started high school, they divorced. I don’t think they did anything wrong. After all, it’s better to split up early than to keep fighting."
Chen Feng listened with some emotion and now understood her dad’s earlier hostile and jealous gaze.
"I didn’t expect to run into him here, sorry for startling you," Mengyao said apologetically, smiling at Chen Feng.
"It’s nothing. I just didn’t expect your dad to be so young."
Chen Feng didn’t really care. He was startled at first, out of a guilty conscience, but soon calmed down. Presumably, Mengyao felt the same.
"I was startled at first too, you know, feeling a bit guilty," Mengyao whispered, giving Chen Feng a suggestive eyebrow raise.
Chen Feng glanced at the counter where her dad was also looking over at that moment; they exchanged a look, both awkwardly feigned a smile, and then tactfully looked away.
From her dad’s expression, it was clear he knew about his daughter’s affair with Chen Feng.
This was indeed awkward, especially considering Mengyao was still married.
"Does your dad know about your separation?" Chen Feng asked in a lowered voice.
Mengyao smirked, shaking her head, "No, I haven’t told my parents."
No way! Chen Feng was utterly speechless.
No wonder her dad had such an unfriendly look at first, mistaking him for the other man. But later, because of his daughter, he refrained from causing a scene.
Mengyao seemed to realize it too and said with some embarrassment, "Don’t worry, I don’t think my dad noticed anything."
Chen Feng rolled his eyes at her—as if her dad couldn’t tell from her initial panic and guilty demeanor.
But it was a fortunate misfortune in the end; even if her dad knew they were cheating, he wouldn’t come after him with a fight.
However, having learned his lesson, Chen Feng would never dine alone with her again.
He had been too careless this time.
"Do you have time this afternoon? We could go to the city center."
Seeing Chen Feng silent and looking at his phone, Mengyao tried to change the subject.
Chen Feng outright refused, "I just went there yesterday, so no, not going."
Mengyao frowned inquiringly, "What were you doing in the city center yesterday?"
Chen Feng looked up at her and said, "I was dropping Mengting off at her home."
"You two seem really close," Mengyao remarked with a hint of jealousy, "Is there really just a sibling relationship between you?"
"What do you care so much for?" Chen Feng frowned slightly.
Mengyao forced a laugh, trying to sound casual, "I’m just curious, is that not allowed?"
"Let’s drop it," Chen Feng changed the subject, "I’m thinking about investing in your company. At least twenty million. How many shares can you give me?"
Mengyao was taken aback and asked incredulously, "Are you serious?"
Chen Feng nodded with a serious face.
After thinking for a while, Mengyao said, "I won’t lie to you. Since the company moved from Guang City, I can’t guarantee it will continue to profit. And the current market value of my company is indeed about two hundred million. If you’re really looking to invest, putting in twenty million at once, I can give you 10% of the shares. But you’d have to give me proxy voting rights for this stake, and you can’t interfere with the management and operation of the company."
