Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Hit Hard

Chen Feng had been underperforming in the company for the past two years, but deep down, he was extremely frustrated and angry, especially about having to pay the company a 100,000 yuan penalty if he resigned.

Being oppressed and without prospects if he stayed, he couldn’t quit, and Yan Jun, that ungrateful jerk, kept disgusting him from time to time.

Chen Feng could only tolerate it on the surface, but his heart was filled with hatred for Mr. Cao and Yan Jun who caused him to be like this.

Therefore, Chen Feng had been secretly trying to gather dirt on both of them.

However, Mr. Cao was somewhat out of reach, and as an ordinary employee now, there were some things he simply couldn’t investigate.

Yan Jun was different. As a member of the same department, everyone saw each other daily, and Chen Feng had been in charge of the department’s paperwork for the past two years, keeping records of every project.

Plus, with the advantage of attacking in secret, over two years, he had indeed collected quite a bit of dirt on Yan Jun, which also cost him some money. That photo of the receipt he had just now was bought with money.

Chen Feng had originally planned to present this evidence to the company owner when his contract was almost up and give Mr. Cao a harsh blow.

But a few days ago, he suddenly discovered he had a terminal illness, realizing he was going to die, he looked at many things differently and no longer had the desire to take revenge on Yan Jun.

But then, this guy had brought it upon himself and happened to walk right into Chen Feng’s line of fire. It could only be said that he brought it upon himself.

Now, looking at Yan Jun’s pale face, unable to answer Chen Feng’s retort, Chen Feng felt no joy in his heart from taking a big revenge, only an inward sigh.

What goes around comes around.

Don’t think that your crimes are so flawless that they’ll never be uncovered; the odds in modern society are like hitting the jackpot in a bi-colored ball lottery.

Yet there are so many people who think they can win millions.

This is probably human nature. Always hoping for good luck.

"Call the police."

Chairman Liu said with a cold voice, gesturing with her hand.

Her female assistant standing behind her didn’t hesitate, took out her phone, walked to the side, and directly called the police.

Everyone was taken aback. Yan Jun’s legs went weak, and he almost fell to his knees, hastily shouting again, "Chairman Liu, I didn’t do it. I really didn’t. Chen Feng is framing and slandering me. I’m truly innocent."

"Mr. Cao, notify security."

Chairman Liu commanded with an icy expression.

"Ah, oh, okay."

Mr. Cao had been a bit dazed and, regaining his senses, took out his phone.

Seeing Mr. Cao about to make a call, Yan Jun shouted angrily, "Mr. Cao, you know I’m innocent, it’s Chen Feng who’s framing me. Mr. Cao, you must speak a fair word for me."

Upon hearing this, Mr. Cao, with phone in hand, turned to look at Chairman Liu and begged, "Chairman Liu, about this matter, why don’t we just conduct an internal investigation at our company?"

Chairman Liu gave him a cool glance and said indifferently, "It seems that Mr. Cao has a good relationship with this Yan Jun. Was he promoted by you?"

Vice President Zhang jumped in, "Yes, Chairman Liu. Yan Jun was personally promoted by Mr. Cao. Originally, Yan Jun was a disciple brought up by Chen Feng, and I heard they used to have a good relationship. At the time, Chen Feng was the deputy manager of the planning department, but as soon as Mr. Cao took office, he demoted him, then promoted Yan Jun to deputy manager of the planning department, and a few months later, he officially became the manager of the department."

Chairman Liu chuckled twice and nodded slightly, "Indeed. Mr. Cao, since he is your trusted aide, you should recuse yourself from this matter. Zhang, take charge of this. Conduct an internal investigation and purge, expose all who have betrayed us and embezzled, fire whoever needs to be fired, and sue whoever needs to be sued. When the police arrive, cooperate with them in their investigation."

Vice President Zhang was overjoyed upon hearing this, "Certainly, Chairman Liu, I guarantee to complete the task."

Mr. Cao turned ashen, unable to utter a word, as everything Vice President Zhang said was true. Yan Jun’s legs started to tremble. He thought about confessing and returning some of the money, but he was reluctant, still hoping for the best, yet fearing the police would bring concrete evidence and it would be the end for him. The thought of possibly facing years in prison filled him with dread.

Caught in a fierce internal struggle, Yan Jun stood there, stunned.

"You did well. As I said, if the police investigation reveals the situation to be true, the company will certainly reward you."

Chairman Liu’s tone with Chen Feng softened quite a bit.

Chen Feng didn’t say much, just shook his head slightly with an indifferent air.

Seeing this, Chairman Liu frowned and said, "What, you’re not satisfied?"

"It’s not that," Chen Feng stood up from his seat and said calmly, "I don’t want any reward, because I have a grudge against Yan Jun. Also, once this is over, I hope you can approve my resignation."

"You want to resign?" Chairman Liu looked at him with a frown.

"Yes. I hope you can approve it."

Chairman Liu was silent in thought. On the side, Mr. Cao couldn’t help but scoff and said, "Chen Feng, you’re still under contract. If you want to resign early, you have to pay the company a penalty fee. The company spent a lot of money sending you to Shanghai for training."

"Mr. Cao, I am speaking with Chairman Liu, why are you interrupting? Do you think that after I beat up Yan Jun today and exposed him, I would be unprepared? You and Yan Jun are cut from the same cloth; he must have given you quite a bit over these two years. You must have known about Yan Jun skimming off the top and fattening his own pockets, or maybe you were doing it yourself. Otherwise, how could the company’s performance have shrunk so drastically these past two years? You as the general manager cannot shirk responsibility."

"You fucking slanderer, are you addicted to spouting nonsense?" Mr. Cao pointed at Chen Feng and cursed, "Be careful, or I’ll sue you for defamation."

Chairman Liu looked at him with a severe gaze, and Mr. Cao suddenly felt an inexplicable pressure, the harsh words he wanted to say next couldn’t come out.

Chen Feng chuckled and said, "If you’re so innocent, then tell me, who paid for the villa in Purple Mansion where you live? A Purple Mansion villa costs at least ten million. And your annual bonus and salary, plus a part of the company’s dividends, add up to barely over a million. Your wife is a housewife, yet both of your kids attend prestigious schools, costing nearly a million a year in tuition. Don’t tell me all that money is family inheritance; your family has been poor for three generations, and your wife’s family is just average. Of course, you might have won the lottery, or made it big gambling; if that’s the case, disregard what I’ve said."

Although there was no concrete evidence against Mr. Cao these past two years, Chen Feng had investigated his background. He did not do this himself but hired someone online, which cost less than a thousand yuan. Revealing these facts was not intended to bring him down but simply to disgust him.

"You fucking investigated me?"

Mr. Cao, furious, didn’t utter another word but advanced a few steps and aimed a slap at Chen Feng.

Chen Feng had been on guard the whole time, he leaned back to dodge the slap, then with a swift kick hit Mr. Cao right in his paunch.

Mr. Cao grunted, stumbled backward several steps, and ultimately ended up sitting on the ground with a thud.

"You dare hit me! Very well! Excellent! You’re done for, I’m telling you, you’re done for," Mr. Cao glared at Chen Feng as he ground his teeth.

Chen Feng smiled and said, "Everyone saw it; he was the one who started it. I was just forced to defend myself."

Hearing this, Mr. Cao grew even angrier, "You fucking..."

"Enough!" Chairman Liu cut him off, speaking sternly, "Cao Kun, you’re the general manager. To think that you would resort to assaulting an employee in front of so many people, do you even resemble a leader? You are suspended. Go home and reflect on this for a couple of days."

Cao Kun, hearing this, had an extremely ugly expression and said in a chilly tone, "Chairman Liu, I’ve worked at Dianchuang for over a decade. You’re suspending me over such a trifle, isn’t that a bit unreasonable?"

Chairman Liu, without giving an inch, retorted, "You think assaulting an employee is a trifle? In that case, you need even more time to reflect. Leave now."

Cao Kun did not say anything else after hearing this. He quickly stood up, glared darkly at Chen Feng, then cast a glance at Chairman Liu and turned to leave.

Everyone had different expressions upon witnessing this, some looked worried while others seemed pleased.

At that moment, several security guards from the company arrived, following Vice President Zhang’s instructions, and subtly took control of Yan Jun.

Chen Feng looked at the dispirited Yan Jun and said leisurely, "Yan Jun, if I were you, I’d be honest with the police when they arrive. Including all the bribes you’ve given to Cao Kun these past two years. It wouldn’t be fair for you to end up in jail with your assets frozen, while he still lives in a luxury villa, with a pampered wife and mistress at home. After all, most of the money he spends on his mistress must be from your "tribute."

"Chen Feng, you’re really treacherous! It doesn’t matter, since I didn’t do anything, your false accusations won’t stick. Once the police clear my name, just wait for me to sue you for defamation."

Yan Jun looked defiant.

But his defiant attitude collapsed completely when the police arrived a few minutes later. Before even being handcuffed, he was shaking like a sieve, his face showing fear.

Clearly, he had the demeanor of a guilty person.
