Chapter 109: Chapter 93 Very Hurtful
"Hello, who are you looking for?" Chen Feng asked politely.
Upon seeing Chen Feng, the middle-aged woman was momentarily stunned, and then her face quickly turned sour. "Who are you? How come you’re here?"
Seeing her attitude and tone, Chen Feng’s expression naturally soured as well, and he retorted, "What’s it to you who I am? You’re the one ringing the doorbell, not me, right?"
Hearing Chen Feng’s reply, the woman became even angrier, raising her voice she said, "This house is mine, you’re in my house. Don’t I have the right to ask who you are?"
Chen Feng had already guessed she was the landlady, but her attitude was really something. He was about to make a snide remark, but Lin Wan hurried over and said, "Aunt Wang, I’m sorry. This is my friend; he doesn’t know you."
"Your friend? Surely not your boyfriend, right?"
Aunt Wang sized Chen Feng up, looking him over with a critical eye.
"Not at all, just a male friend," Lin Wan quickly denied before she turned the conversation with a forced smile, "Aunt Wang, did you need anything by coming over?"
"Oh, I came to see how you’re doing. Also, about the parking fee, I’ve already spoken with the property management. You just need to pay monthly. It won’t be a problem for you. Plus, when I initially agreed to rent the house to you, it was because you were both girls. In the future, don’t casually bring men home, it doesn’t do your reputation any good."
At the end of her speech, she shot Chen Feng a cold glance before turning around and going downstairs.
Lin Wan was a bit irritated and embarrassed, but still shouted after the retreating figure of Aunt Wang, "Have a good day, Aunt Wang."
After the landlady had gone down the stairs and Lin Wan closed the door, her face darkened, and she said cursingly, "That damn fatso, acting all high and mighty. Sooner or later she’ll choke on her food, get water up her nose, or stumble into something."
Chen Feng couldn’t help but laugh, saying, "Do you need to be so vicious?"
Lin Wan huffed, "You have no idea how annoying that fatso is. If it weren’t for how difficult it is to find a place, we wouldn’t be renting from her. It’s just two houses she owns, but she struts around like she’s something special. And that disgusting son of hers, doesn’t even have the nerve to look in the mirror. He actually thinks he’s got a chance at dating us."
Chen Feng became interested upon hearing this and asked, "What’s the whole story?"
Lin Wan didn’t hold back and told him everything. The story was simple; the landlady fancied them and wanted to set them up with her son.
Her son was an overweight recluse, having graduated from college three or four years ago and still spent his days playing games at home, living off his parents.
"If her son were a little handsomer, spoke more nicely, maybe I could actually consider it. But her son is less than 170 cm tall, plastered with acne, weighs at least 180 kilograms, and speaks in a breathy, effeminate voice. He seems obedient, but who are Tiantian and I to fancy such a guy? That fatso is delusional, suggesting that if we dated her son, we’d be getting the better deal. Shameless."
Chen Feng now understood why Aunt Wang had such a big reaction upon seeing him, mistaking him as a rival for her son.
If not for considering Lin Wan and Wu Mengting’s feelings, Chen Feng would have liked to snap back at that landlady.
"Judging by what you’re saying, her son sounds like a decent guy," Chen Feng said with a laugh. "An honest person, and probably an only child, owning two properties. Assets must be worth tens of millions. Marrying him would mean not worrying about livelihood in this city. It should be a stable life."
"Pfft!" Lin Wan dismissed with disdain. "With the catches that Tiantian and I are, if we really wanted to find locals to date, we could easily find someone several times better than her son. His turn wouldn’t even come."
Chen Feng nodded sincerely in agreement, "That’s true."
"What about the parking fee though?" Chen Feng continued.
The moment Lin Wan heard this, she was annoyed again, "Tiantian and I both have cars. To park in this complex, we have to pay double the parking fee than homeowners. They pay only 150 a month; we renters need to fork out 300. At first, they even demanded we pay a year in advance. I argued with that fatso, saying we wouldn’t rent her place if it meant paying a whole year up front. She must have negotiated since now we can pay monthly—that’s one good thing she did for us, at least."
"Seems like you two have it tough finding a place to rent," Chen Feng said sympathetically.
"You’re telling me. Being out here, it’s not just at work where we have to put up with crap, finding somewhere to live is another headache. Especially in a big city," Lin Wan said with a sullen face. "Looks like we can’t stay here much longer. We’ll have to keep looking for another place. If you’re free, help us keep an eye out for anything decent to rent within a couple of miles around here, preferably two bedrooms and a living room."
Chen Feng was indeed willing to help them, but he couldn’t offer the Red Villa Bay since Xiao Ya was living there and he had to go there often himself.
Nor would it be suitable to have them at the East Lake Villa since he lived there with Sun Xiaorui.
The first floor apartment he had initially rented was too small and shabby.
"Sure. I’ll keep an eye out."
Even though he couldn’t be of much help at the moment, Chen Feng readily agreed.
"Thanks."
After thanking him, Lin Wan suddenly asked curiously, "Haven’t you thought about buying a place around here? If you did, you could consider renting it to us."
"Why do you keep harping on about me buying a house? You haven’t fallen for me, have you?" Chen Feng asked with a smile.
