Chapter 347: Chapter 347: Encountering Chi Yue
Because she had already been to the school, she didn’t need a student guide at the entrance and went straight to the admissions office.
The staff there still remembered her and led her directly to the registration desk.
"I’ve already talked to the teacher in charge of registration about your matter," the staff member said as they walked, "and he will help you register directly."
"Thank you," Xia Chuyi responded.
Once at the registration desk, the staff member handed her over to a registration teacher.
"Do you have all your proofs and documents with you?" the registration teacher asked.
Xia Chuyi nodded and handed over her documents.
After carefully checking all her proof documents and identification, the teacher nodded, picked up a fountain pen, and formally registered her on the registration form.
With the information recorded and registration complete, the teacher said, "Xia Chuyi, our Foreign Language College doesn’t have a lot of students right now, so you’ll need to share a dorm room with students from other colleges. If you go earlier, you might get assigned to a better dorm room."
"Our country has good policies; one doesn’t have to pay tuition for college, and each month the school even gives out 25 yuan in meal tickets for living expenses."
"If you have a poverty certificate, you can get an additional three yuan in poverty assistance."
The registration teacher itemized these basic details of the school for her.
"Okay, thank you, teacher. I understand," Xia Chuyi thanked the teacher.
Seeing her politeness, the teacher was very satisfied and continued, "By the way, regarding the identity substitution matter you mentioned, up until now, we haven’t found anyone using your acceptance letter to claim a spot."
"If someone appears with the admission letter, I will report it directly to the public security and inform you."
"Thank you very much!" Xia Chuyi sincerely said.
Having completed her registration, Xia Chuyi, with her baggage in tow, followed the directions given by the registration teacher towards the female dormitory.
Since she arrived early, she indeed obtained a rather nice dorm room—an upstairs room on the second floor that was far from the bathroom and had good lighting.
Naturally, the dorm was still empty. She took the key, went inside, and began cleaning.
After sweeping the floor and wiping down the beds, she made her bed with the linens she had brought and arranged all her toiletries and stationery.
Then she went to fetch water, washed her rags, and returned, ready to put away her things and leave.
As soon as she entered, she saw a well-dressed middle-aged woman pinching a handkerchief, saying disdainfully, "Yueyue, the living conditions of your school’s dormitory are quite poor, aren’t they?"
No sooner had the woman completed her sentence than she saw Xia Chuyi, her expression changing slightly before quickly plastering on a smile and saying, "Classmate, are you also in this dormitory?"
Xia Chuyi looked over and noticed a young woman beside the older woman, sporting a curly ponytail.
Clearly, this was a mother bringing her daughter to school.
"Hello, Auntie. My name is Xia Chuyi. I’m a student in this dorm room," Xia Chuyi politely said and smoothly placed the water basin under the bed.
"Your name is Xia Chuyi? Are you from out of town?" the woman asked while looking at her, "My daughter’s name is Chi Yue, a local from Capital City."
The introduction sounded commonplace, but between the lines, it was a brazen display of pride.
"Nice to meet you," Xia Chuyi responded indifferently, clearly unimpressed by whether Chi Yue was a local citizen or not.
Not receiving the enthusiastic response she expected, the woman was slightly dissatisfied but did not show it excessively.
"Xia Chuyi, here’s the thing. My daughter has hives and isn’t well suited to the lower bunk," the woman explained.
"If people who are a cross between anything and everything sit on her bed, or if anything falls on it, she will have an allergic reaction."
"So, young comrade, do you think you could let my daughter have your bed space?"
