Chapter 440: Chapter 440: Still Gets Uglier
She smiled mischievously at Yu Cheng and said, "Brother Yu, could you give Brother Cheng An a call for me? I want to ask about Sister Cheng’s measurements."
"Sure, just give me a second." Yu Cheng sat on the couch and dialed the Cheng family’s number.
Cheng An answered the phone directly, which may have been due to him not having much to do and being particularly idle that day.
"Cheng An, it’s me, Yu Cheng."
"Boss Yu, what’s up? Missing me?" Cheng An asked jokingly.
"Mianmian needs you for something, wait a second." Yu Cheng handed the phone to Jiang Mianmian so she could talk.
Jiang Mianmian called out crisply, "Brother Cheng An, it’s Mianmian. I want to make a dress for Sister Cheng as a birthday present. Could you tell me Sister Cheng’s height, weight, and her three measurements?"
"You making clothes? Come on, Mianmian, stop kidding around. Do you even know how to make clothes? Haha." Cheng An burst into laughter at the thought of Jiang Mianmian’s petite figure working with fabric taller than her.
Jiang Mianmian listened to Cheng An’s laughter with a full head of black lines, "Bro, stop laughing, just tell me Sister Cheng’s measurements."
"My sister’s height and weight? Hold on a second, let me ask the tailor who makes clothes for us. I really don’t know these details." Seeing that Jiang Mianmian was serious, Cheng An cheerfully agreed.
"Okay, thank you, Brother Cheng An." Jiang Mianmian hung up after speaking.
About fifteen minutes later, Cheng An called back and told Jiang Mianmian all of Sister Cheng’s measurements.
"Brother Cheng An, keep this a secret for now, don’t tell Sister Cheng. I want to give her a surprise," Jiang Mianmian instructed.
"Mm, okay, I got it. I won’t say a word, don’t worry." Cheng An promised, as if coaxing a child.
After hanging up, Jiang Mianmian noted down Sister Cheng’s measurements in her notebook.
Jiang Mianmian noticed that no matter how hot the weather was, Yu Cheng preferred not to wear shorts. She decided to make a white shirt for Yu Cheng and a pair of casual pants from black fabric she had purchased specifically for him.
With a plan in mind, Jiang Mianmian took the scissors in hand, and with a clear idea of Yu Cheng’s measurements, began cutting the fabric with snips and snaps.
Yu Cheng, fearing she might hurt herself, watched over her.
After Jiang Mianmian finished cutting the fabric, she started threading the needle on the sewing machine in the house. She had studied design and had good ideas for designing clothes, but actually sewing them was a bit beyond her abilities.
After all, this was her first time making clothes; she was inexperienced.
Plus, they had used electric sewing machines during her internships, which were countless times more convenient than this old-fashioned sewing machine.
Jiang Mianmian fumbled with the sewing machine’s functions and after spending an afternoon on it, she finally shaped the outline of the clothing.
After dinner, she dove back into the project.
"Little Lamb, it’s after nine, it’s time to sleep. Staying up late will not only stunt your growth, but also make you ugly," Yu Cheng teased her.
Jiang Mianmian, not even lifting her head, replied, "In a bit, I’m almost finished. Just some small details left."
The styles for men’s shirts were limited, so she focused her efforts on the fine details of the cuffs and collar, trying to make them unique.
After two days of work, Jiang Mianmian finally finished the clothes just before Yu Cheng’s birthday.
She held up the freshly washed and neatly ironed clothes, running excitedly to Yu Cheng’s room.
