Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Meeting the Parents and Discussing the Marriage

Sang Qiao lowered her eyes as Ah He’s words echoed in her mind, "He really has a lot of patience with you." Yes, he really was patient, having thought about proposing so many times.

She took out the ring box from her pocket and stuffed it into the man’s palm, "I haven’t given you an answer yet, but you’ve decided I’ve already refused?"

Si Chenli was suddenly stunned. He held the ring box in his hand for a long time without making a move.

He looked at the young girl standing in front of him and clearly realized that she had agreed.

Sang Qiao’s ears turned slightly red from being stared at, and the man still had no reaction, as if he hadn’t snapped back to reality, when suddenly the elevator doors were opened.

She stepped out, not wanting to be in the elevator with Si Chenli, locked in a silent face-to-face gaze.

Si Chenli also quickly followed her out. He grasped the young girl’s wrist, his laughter filled with joy, "Qiaoqiao, why run? I haven’t even put the ring on you yet."

"I’m not running; we’ve arrived at our floor."

"Good, not running, then give me your hand." The man opened the ring box and took out the diamond ring.

"Mhm." Sang Qiao didn’t hesitate to stretch out her hand to him, opening her fingers to watch the perfectly sized diamond ring slowly slide onto her ring finger.

Si Chenli gripped her fingertips, "I’ll take you to get the marriage certificate tomorrow. We can pick a date for the wedding once I find someone to choose an auspicious day."

"No rush, it’s fine." Sang Qiao blinked, her curly eyelashes clearly defined, the sensation on her ring finger making her acutely aware that she was about to become a married woman.

"I’m in a hurry," the man chuckled softly.

"Then you better work fast, and after work, I’ll take you home to meet Grandpa," Sang Qiao said with a light laugh.

"Let’s go, no more work," Si Chenli blurted out, directly taking her hand and heading back to the elevator.

Sang Qiao followed behind him, "?"

"It’s not an important contract; it can be dealt with tomorrow."

"Okay."

The front desk staff watched as they had just gone upstairs not long ago, only to come back down again, with Miss Sang Qiao now sporting a sparkling diamond ring on her hand.

They were beginning to doubt their life choices, wondering if their presence had somehow influenced the CEO and his future wife to make this extra trip upstairs to wear the ring.

Sang Mansion

Old Master Sang, after finishing the call from Qiaoqiao, was in total disbelief. His Qiaoqiao was... about to get married?

Although Qiaoqiao’s relationships with the other members of the Sang Family were not good, he still made calls to inform everyone, except Sang Zheng.

Even if they ended up sitting at the door to have a meal, it would be to show support for Qiaoqiao.

After making the calls, Old Master Sang sighed, feeling as if time had flown by.

Amidst his sighing, two people came in carrying large and small packages, "Grandpa."

"Grandpa Sang."

Old Master Sang said, "Sit down. Let’s find an opportunity for both families to sit down together, choose a date. I can’t stop your wedding, nor is there anything to stop."

What Grandpa Sang said was the truth - even if he didn’t agree, he couldn’t stop them, not to mention Si Chenli did everything so flawlessly that there was nothing to complain about.

Si Chenli said, "Thank you, Grandpa. How about we schedule the meal for tomorrow noon? After eating, we can go get the marriage certificate."

Grandpa Sang: "?" Wasn’t this change of address too quick? Wait, getting the marriage certificate tomorrow?!

"Chenli, aren’t you being a bit hasty with this?"

"Grandpa, rest assured, getting the certificate might be a bit rushed, but the wedding will be absolutely grand, involving half of the Si Family."

Si Chenli’s attitude was sincere. He only blamed himself for being too anxious when he arrived earlier and forgetting to arrange the contract, which meant he would have to wait until tomorrow to bring the bride price over.

"Cough, cough, cough... Half... half of the Si Family?" Mr. Sang Senior was completely astonished; they were truly willing to splurge.

"Yes."

"Chenli, my Sang Family doesn’t want any bride price. I agree to this marriage as long as you treat my Qiaoqiao well," Mr. Sang Senior looked at his granddaughter, his heart sour with emotion.

"Thank you, Grandpa. I will always treat Sang Qiao well," Si Chenli gripped Sang Qiao’s hand firmly, his demeanor composed.

Sang Qiao also held his hand in return, and she seriously addressed the elder, "Grandpa, I don’t want to see anyone at tomorrow’s dinner except for you and Grandma Su."

"I know," Mr. Sang Senior naturally wouldn’t notify others for such a grand occasion.

Considering Sang Zheng’s temperament, he would probably start asking for a substantial bride price at the dinner table, which would be disgraceful. Although the Si Family members wouldn’t think less of Qiaoqiao because of Sang Zheng’s behavior, such actions were still quite detestable.

After leaving the Sang Mansion, the two made another trip to the Su Mansion.

Bringing with them a large pile of gifts, Grandma Su naturally responded positively to their marriage.

"Xiao Li, I’ve watched you two grow up together and naturally trust you," Grandma Su said. "Our Qiaoqiao will be counting on you to take good care of her."

"Grandma, rest assured, I will take good care of her."

The three of them sat in harmony, without rejection or scrutiny, as if it were a marriage meant to be.

This made Su Nuanying unable to help thinking about the scene of her and Fu Xing returning home, with no one supportive and her parents only asking questions and disliking Fu Xing. The stark contrast made her feel even worse.

But that was her choice, and she didn’t even have anyone to blame.

Initially, no one thought highly of her being together with Fu Xing. What was she thinking in her head, to be so certain about such a disgusting person?

Su Nuanying couldn’t stand to stay in that home any longer. She didn’t push the door open; she turned around and left.

Seeing others happy, her heart no longer felt joy for them but instead pain, deeply stabbing her eyes.

She didn’t want to look.

Before Su Nuanying had even made it out of the mansion gates, she ran into her parents’ returning car.

Mrs. Su immediately got out of the car and upon seeing Su Nuanying looking as if she was about to leave home again, felt displeased.

"Xingxing, where are you going? You don’t answer your phone, you hide upon seeing us; are you determined to cut ties with us?"

"I don’t need you to worry about it," Su Nuanying didn’t look at her mother, intending to walk past her.

Mrs. Su reached out and grabbed Su Nuanying’s arm, "Is this tone how you should speak to me? Your dad and I work ourselves to death outside to give you a good life. Is this how you repay us after you’ve grown up?"

"That is just what you think is a good life, it’s never been what I wanted!"

Su Nuanying clenched her fists involuntarily, her eyes filled with resentment as she trembled while speaking these grievous words.

From childhood to adulthood, she didn’t know how many times she had listened to her mother’s "self-congratulatory" speeches and sacrifices.

They never asked if this was the life she wanted.

"You!" Mrs. Su turned pale with anger.

Mr. Su also parked the car and heard these words as soon as he did, his expression turning sour, "Su Nuanying, what way is that to talk! Ever since you realized for yourself that you were deceived by Fu Xing, you’ve been acting like you don’t care about anyone. Are you blaming us? Didn’t we all advise you not to be with Fu Xing? Did you listen?"
