After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again
Chapter 25: I have been looking for someone

Chapter 25: 25: I have been looking for someone

"Mom has always felt guilty about this," Evelyn sobbed. "She misses you very much. Amidst the devastating news of Dad’s death... she held on... She said she wanted to say sorry on behalf of Dad."

"There’s nothing to be sorry for," Florence Fuller looked at them. "I don’t like those three words."

She should hold resentment and hatred, but she didn’t know where to begin, she felt conflicted.

The phone rang, and she glanced at the caller ID and hung up without hesitation.

It called again two seconds later.

Florence Fuller was fed up, Henry Shaw and Evelyn Shaw looked at her, she pursed her lips. "I’m going to take a call."

She went to the balcony.

The call was from Luke Gardiner, his tone leisurely, "Where are you?"

"Do you need something?"

"Can’t I call you just because I have nothing to do?"

Luke Gardiner himself thought he was being a bit absurd, calling her just to find some trouble for himself.

"Don’t you have anything else to do?" Florence Fuller ran her hand through her hair in annoyance. "Can’t you just stop being so irritating!"

Hearing her tone was really prickly, Luke Gardiner frowned, "If you’re unhappy, why take it out on me."

"Then why did you call!" Florence Fuller said.

Luke Gardiner: "You’re saying I can’t call you, Florence Fuller! Don’t forget what our relationship is!"

"Does the relationship matter?" Florence Fuller said, "Let’s divorce, I’m serious."

"Dream on!" Luke Gardiner yelled on the other end, "It was easy for you to marry in, you want out, no way!"

"Then just mind your own business and stop bothering me!" Florence Fuller warned, "I also don’t want to have kids, if you want them, there are plenty of women outside to have them! I hope you can just like before, stop bothering me, we’ll just be strangers who know unspokenly, just put on a show in front of the old man and that’s it."

She hung up swiftly, turning around to see Evelyn holding a cup of water looking at her.

"Have some water!"

The table was tidied up, Charles Shaw was in the kitchen washing dishes.

Florence Fuller sat down on the sofa with the cup of water, drinking it all in one go.

"You had a fight with your husband."

"Business marriage, what is there to fight about," Florence Fuller mocked.

Evelyn looked at her, Florence Fuller met her gaze knowing she was about to say those three words again, and immediately said, "I don’t want to hear sorry, it’s not your problem."

"But your marriage... it’s just not happy," Evelyn knew a bit about her husband’s affairs, a scandal-ridden romantic lad.

"A marriage isn’t tied to happiness, it’s about interests."

"You weren’t like this before. From a young age, you decisively had your own goals, nobody could sway you. But now..."

"Evelyn," Florence Fuller noticed she had really changed a lot, the confident and cheerful elder sister was nowhere to be found. "You weren’t like this before either."

The current Evelyn, worried and hesitant, unlike before who wouldn’t worry in advance even when things went wrong, she was the type to deal with it when it came.

Really changed a lot.

"Yeah, we weren’t like this before," Evelyn held her face. "I always thought, the two of us sisters would always be together from studying to graduating to working. But... now everything has changed."

"At least we’re sitting together now," Florence Fuller looked at her. "Aren’t we?"

Evelyn suddenly laughed.

"I’m not the type to let myself suffer a loss, you always knew that."

Evelyn nodded.

The two sisters had always been the obedient girls in their parents’ eyes. She truly didn’t cause trouble, even in arguments she was reasonable, completely had Henry Shaw’s temperament.

Florence Fuller was also obedient, gentle and kind to people, but if pushed she could really fight back.

"But it seems later on you only realize the loss makes you understand, makes you comprehend."

Charles Shaw looked at her, "You’re actually really tired, you can fool others, but not me."

Growing up together, childhood companions, after nine years she might not see through Florence Fuller, but she felt Florence Fuller was just tired.

Florence Fuller let out a dry laugh. "Got any wine?"

Evelyn hesitated, "You’re not leaving tonight?"

Florence Fuller pretended to get up, "Then I should leave now."

"Not what I meant, we have some." Evelyn called toward the kitchen, "Brother, can you go buy some wine."

Charles Shaw came out, "Sure."

There was a small market outside the neighborhood, Charles Shaw returned quickly with a case of canned beer.

Florence Fuller could drink quite well, a can of beer wouldn’t get her drunk, but with the drinks, everyone seemed to let go of their inner knots, and started chatting about other things.

Charles Shaw was still single, Florence Fuller asked if he had anyone he liked, he shook his head.

"You’ll be twenty-nine after this year, brother," Evelyn drank half a can, her face slightly red, "You’re so handsome, it’s not right, you’d better find someone, so the girl from the TV station stops bugging you."

Charles Shaw sighed, "Now with work and hospital visits, if I get in a relationship there’s no time for dates, that wouldn’t be fair to the girl."

"You don’t have to worry about the hospital side, there are caregivers," Florence Fuller said.

"True, but I just want to spend more time with Mom."

Florence Fuller understood, she nodded.

"Are you still worried about our current situation," Evelyn looked at Charles Shaw, "Brother, you’re under too much pressure."

"Don’t worry about my pressure, think about yourself," Charles Shaw said, "You quit a good studio job to join a film crew."

Florence Fuller’s eyes flickered, Evelyn looked at her, "I know you helped get Teacher Lane’s studio to come find me, but I just couldn’t, I couldn’t write good songs anymore."

Florence Fuller nodded.

"The film crew isn’t bad either, being an extra gives some lines, earn a bit more money too."

"It’s hard," Florence Fuller said.

"Everything’s tough, you’re working hard too," Evelyn touched her arm, "You’re too thin."

Charles Shaw nodded in agreement.

"Although I don’t know if I can ask, I still want to," Evelyn said seriously, "Florence, will you really be trapped in this marriage for life?"

Florence Fuller shook her head, "Maybe not, maybe yes."

She opened a third can of beer and took a big gulp, "I’ve actually been looking for someone."

"Who."

Florence Fuller’s eyes were profound, somewhat bleak, "You’ve met them."

Thinking back, Charles Shaw suddenly remembered that handsome face, "That... man who once came with you to find us."

That man with outstanding looks, a tall figure. With a noble restraint, standing silently behind Florence Fuller all along, his eyes tenderly watching her.

Evelyn seemed to remember too, "You broke up?"

Florence Fuller watched the beer foam spilling over the can, "Guess so."

"How can you not find him then."

Florence Fuller shook her head, she shifted the topic:

"You two have been living here for the past two years?"

"Yeah, it’s cheap," Evelyn took a sip of beer.

"How long is the commute?"

"For me, it’s a little over an hour," Charles Shaw smiled, "Same for Evelyn, roughly."
