After Divorce: Why My Aloof Ex Starts Chasing Me? -
Chapter 163: Don’t You Want to Pay Back the Money?
Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Don’t You Want to Pay Back the Money?
Shen Qingqing’s work is on track.
During this time, Mrs. Zhou came to see her once, offering Shen Qingqing a final chance.
If she went abroad to take care of Zhou Hansheng, the past grievances would be forgotten, and she would even get some money.
Shen Qingqing refused.
After that, Mrs. Zhou didn’t show up in front of Shen Qingqing again and instructed Zhou Hansheng’s younger sister not to associate with Shen Qingqing.
In the past, Mr. Zhou was Shen Qingqing’s boss and took special care of her. Logically, when she returned to the country, she should visit their family.
But now things had developed to this point, and Shen Qingqing didn’t want to complicate things further.
So, she went with the flow and broke off contact with the Zhou Family.
When she received her first month’s salary, Shen Qingqing planned, as beforehand, to return fifty bucks to Jiang Zhixun.
At this rate, who knows how long it would take to repay all the money.
Shen Qingqing pondered that once her work became stable, she would take on some translation gigs.
On her day off, Shen Qingqing decided to make a trip back to the compound.
Before going, she called Madam Jiang to ask if anyone was home.
Madam Jiang was about to say everyone was home, then saw her son, who had come to the phone without her noticing, shaking his head.
He had been eating breakfast at the table just a moment ago...
"No, no one else is here, just me and the old man. Zhixun is busy and never home. Your dad left for work after breakfast."
Even though Shen Qingqing had changed her way of addressing them to uncle and auntie.
Madam Jiang hadn’t changed hers.
Unless Shen Qingqing looked really unhappy, she still used "Dad" and "Mom."
Shen Qingqing said, "Then I’ll come over in a while."
"Okay, do you need us to pick you up?"
Shen Qingqing declined, "No need, I’ll take a ride myself."
Madam Jiang suddenly remembered, "Your bicycle is still parked in the yard. No one rides it, and it’ll rust if it stays there any longer. You should ride it back."
Shen Qingqing said something on the other end that Madam Jiang didn’t catch, but her son’s displeased expression was clear to her.
After the call ended, she scolded him, "I just helped you fool Qingqing, you ungrateful brat!"
Jiang Zhixun sighed, "You’re having her ride the bicycle, how am I supposed to drive her?"
Only then did Madam Jiang realize, tapping her forehead, "Then stop eating and quickly go remove the chain."
Jiang Zhixun: "..."
The old man sat at the dining table, pretending to cough with a fist to his mouth, "Sneaky and underhanded, can’t bear to watch!"
Madam Jiang: "If not because your grandson is hopeless, would I need to worry?"
The old man remarked, "Had a good wife and didn’t cherish her, now fussing around, I really don’t know what’s in his head!"
Madam Jiang: "Zhou Hansheng has already gone abroad, this time it’s completely over. Do you want Qingqing to be alone forever?"
The old man snorted, "I didn’t say that."
Though living alone had its freedoms, the old man still wished for Shen Qingqing to have a good companion.
Tired or sick, there would be someone to take care of her, someone she could rely on.
He warned Jiang Zhixun, "If you bully Qingqing again, let’s see if I won’t beat you!"
Even at his age, Jiang Zhixun was threatened with a beating, awkwardly rubbing his nose.
"When did I ever bully her? Back then, I left home on my own, leaving the house to her."
"You punk! Do you want me to tell Qingqing?"
Shen Qingqing was Jiang Zhixun’s Achilles’ heel; afraid to be tough-lipped, he said, "Don’t gossip in front of her."
The old man was so angry he blew his whiskers and glared, "Your foul mouth, no wonder Qingqing dislikes you. Before coming home, she has to indirectly find out if you’re there!"
Jiang Zhixun had an exasperated look, "No need to constantly remind me."
The old man smirked, "I’ll just keep bringing it up! An eye for an eye!"
Jiang Zhixun: "..."
Father Jiang didn’t join their conversation, finishing his breakfast, he left for work as usual.
He just instructed Madam Jiang, "Have Qingqing stay for lunch, don’t rush her away. I have something important for her."
Madam Jiang instinctively asked, "What is it?"
"I need her to help with some translation work for a few days."
Madam Jiang didn’t ask more, "Alright, I’ll tell her."
Jiang Zhixun’s eyes flickered, "Dad, I..."
Father Jiang silenced him with a look, "Shut up!"
Jiang Zhixun: "..."
He hadn’t even said anything yet...
He finished his breakfast gloomily, but the thought of Shen Qingqing coming to the compound soon lifted his spirits.
He fiddled around in the yard for a few minutes, the bicycle Shen Qingqing left in the compound, the chain was broken, and the tires were flat...
The old man, taking a walk in the yard, watched his actions clearly.
He started nagging again, "Putting effort into pointless things, just wasting time."
Jiang Zhixun was in a good mood, not arguing with the old man.
Glancing at the time, Shen Qingqing should have just left the school.
After going upstairs for a shower and a change of clothes, Jiang Zhixun left the house.
If he didn’t leave, Madam Jiang would have to drive him out.
Otherwise, when Qingqing arrived and saw him at home, she’d know she was lied to?
Clapping her hands, Madam Jiang sighed.
"He’s dressed up like a peacock, doesn’t look like someone who came back home on a whim."
The old man gloatingly said, "Qingqing isn’t stupid, she won’t fall for your tricks."
Wanting Shen Qingqing as a granddaughter-in-law was one thing.
Watching the drama was another.
Now, with daily amusement provided, the old man was content. He felt healthier than ever.
Sitting in the living room with a ready-to-watch look.
Madam Jiang anxiously walked out into the yard, but Jiang Zhixun was already far away, too late to remind him.
More than an hour passed before Shen Qingqing appeared in the compound.
Jiang Zhixun followed her from afar, walking at a leisurely pace.
Perhaps work was straining, and after not seeing her for a while, he felt that Shen Qingqing seemed a bit thinner.
Even though her clothes were bulkier after winter arrived.
The feeling remained—that she had lost weight.
Could it be that the cafeteria foods were unappetizing?
Jiang Zhixun pondered.
His stare was so focused, it felt oppressive. Shen Qingqing turned back to look.
Jiang Zhixun didn’t hide, taking a few quick steps forward.
"Why didn’t you call ahead so I could pick you up at school?"
Shen Qingqing’s gaze swept over him, she chuckled mockingly, "Pretending, still pretending."
Jiang Zhixun was on the verge of laughter, "What am I pretending?"
His nonchalant demeanor irked Shen Qingqing.
She quietly exhaled, telling herself not to get angry at him, otherwise, it’s her own health that suffers.
Turning away, she continued walking toward the Jiang Family’s direction.
Jiang Zhixun tilted his head to look at her, "Why do you only say half a sentence?"
Shen Qingqing didn’t answer.
Jiang Zhixun: "Teacher Shen, is this your way of dealing with people?"
Shen Qingqing rolled her eyes, "I don’t speak with scoundrels."
A soft laugh reached her ears, carrying a teasing tone, and Shen Qingqing’s face flushed red.
It was out of anger.
She glared at Jiang Zhixun, "Can you stay away from me?"
"Oh."
Jiang Zhixun pitifully moved a couple of steps aside.
Strangely, Shen Qingqing thought of a big dog, with his dark eyes fixed on her, as if she were his entire world.
The steps she took landed heavily and her pace quickened, "So annoying!"
Jiang Zhixun’s mouth twisted into an enthusiastic grin.
"What’s annoying, is it that you don’t want to repay the money?"
Shen Qingqing: "..."
