After Divorce: Why My Aloof Ex Starts Chasing Me? -
Chapter 151 You’re Not Being Good
Chapter 151: Chapter 151 You’re Not Being Good
Jiang Zhixun had a bit of a chauvinistic streak. He admired Shen Qingqing’s beauty but didn’t want other men to witness it.
Yet deep down, he knew he wasn’t the only one who had eyes.
Qingqing was a standout at work, with both inner and outer beauty, and admirers of hers were only going to increase in number.
It wasn’t something he could stop just because he wanted to.
Whenever Shen Qingqing got angry, Jiang Zhixun would start to feel guilty.
"I’m not trying to interfere, just giving a suggestion. Whether or not to take it is up to you."
"What right do you have to give me advice?"
Jiang Zhixun: "There won’t be a second time."
Not a single word of the man’s promises did Shen Qingqing believe!
With a cold expression, she pulled ten yuan out of her bag—the cost of breakfast.
She slapped it onto Jiang Zhixun’s chest.
"Please leave. Immediately."
Jiang Zhixun held a box in both arms, and the money slid down his chest onto the box.
A gust of wind threatened to sweep it away.
He had to prop the box with one arm while scrambling for the money with the other.
With a tone of mockery, he joked, "Is this a tip?"
From his expression, it was clear he wasn’t taking what had just happened seriously at all.
Even with her generally good temper, Shen Qingqing couldn’t stop the anger that flared up inside her.
"Jiang Zhixun, what exactly are you trying to do?"
The man wore an innocent look. "Teacher Xu asked me to help you carry the box."
Playing dumb.
That was the only phrase Shen Qingqing could think of.
"Divorced ex-husband and ex-wife—you think this is appropriate?"
Jiang Zhixun raised an eyebrow, his gaze shifting between the two of them. "We kept a safe distance. Didn’t do anything inappropriate. What’s wrong with it?"
Shen Qingqing decided to be blunt. "Since we’re divorced, I won’t go back to how things were. I hope you can look forward too. Don’t waste your time on me—it’s a futile effort."
She went to grab the box, but the man wouldn’t let go.
Frustrated, Shen Qingqing simply turned and walked away, leaving the box behind.
Out of her line of sight, the teasing expression on Jiang Zhixun’s face slowly disappeared.
His eyes grew clouded with loss and confusion, the intensity deepening.
He wasn’t as invulnerable as he thought.
Her words drawing boundaries, her unhappy expression—they all transformed into invisible blades, cutting into him bit by bit.
The Shen Qingqing of now seemed mild-tempered, but she was actually covered in thorns.
The moment he got close, she would pierce him without mercy.
With a blank expression, Jiang Zhixun stayed silent for the rest of their time together, choosing not to speak to Shen Qingqing.
Shen Qingqing didn’t want to talk to him either.
What she said earlier wasn’t out of anger. Since they had chosen to divorce, it meant there were irreparable issues between them. Separation was the best choice.
So they should each go their own way in peace!
Soon, they reached the dormitory.
Shen Qingqing’s dorm was on the top floor, with an excellent view.
The single-room dorm was small, containing a bed, a desk, and a cabinet in the corner for storing clothes.
If she added anything else, it would feel cramped.
Living alone now, Shen Qingqing found the accommodations more than acceptable.
She could eat at the cafeteria, so she didn’t need to buy any cooking equipment. For her, this modest little space was enough.
The only downside was the lack of a private bathroom.
Once her job situation stabilized, Shen Qingqing hoped the company could provide her with proper housing. If not, she planned to buy her own place in a few years.
Right now, it was just a temporary arrangement, and Shen Qingqing found it satisfactory.
Jiang Zhixun didn’t know where he’d gotten a measuring tape, but he began measuring the room’s dimensions.
Without looking up, he said, "I think a sofa could fit here. I’ll bring one over when the time comes."
The sofa they had bought during their marriage was still in their former marital home.
Jiang Zhixun didn’t want to disturb the arrangement of the marital home.
But since Shen Qingqing wouldn’t move back in, those items seemed to have lost their meaning.
Rather than keeping them as emotional tokens, it would be better to let her use them and actually enjoy them.
After finishing the measurements, Jiang Zhixun also checked the doors, windows, and utilities in the dorm.
When he found a loose screw on the window, he fixed it immediately.
Shen Qingqing had lived alone before and had always fixed her own lightbulbs.
But now, Jiang Zhixun had done everything for her, even taking care of small problems she wouldn’t have thought of.
Her emotions grew inexplicably complex.
Moments of anger at Jiang Zhixun alternated with moments of gratitude for his efforts.
Shen Qingqing suddenly understood a little better why she used to suffer from that illness.
Constantly torn by such contradictory emotions, how could anyone remain rational and clear-headed?
After completing everything, Jiang Zhixun asked Shen Qingqing, "Did I miss anything?"
Shen Qingqing shook her head. "No."
Jiang Zhixun pointed to the door. "When are you moving in—today or tomorrow? I can install a latch later to make it safer."
The school was a safe place, but Jiang Zhixun wanted everything to be perfect, to minimize any trouble for Shen Qingqing.
Shen Qingqing fidgeted with her bag’s strap. "I’ll probably hire movers. There’s too much stuff."
Jiang Zhixun clenched his jaw, a sharp edge in his gaze. "Shen Qingqing, do you have to be this polite with me?"
Shen Qingqing averted her gaze, avoiding Jiang Zhixun’s eyes.
"It’s inappropriate."
Jiang Zhixun was livid. "I’m single, I have no matchmaking plans, and I don’t intend to marry anyone else. So what part of this is inappropriate?"
Shen Qingqing: "That’s not what I meant."
Jiang Zhixun’s eyes turned dangerous. "Then what do you mean? Afraid Zhou Hansheng will misunderstand?"
He finally said that name out loud.
He had planned to act as though Zhou Hansheng didn’t exist, but reality proved that some people and things simply couldn’t be ignored!
Jiang Zhixun felt deeply unwilling to accept this.
He was the one who had met Qingqing first, and also the one who had married her first.
Back then, he had been the man Shen Qingqing loved!
Shen Qingqing felt her chest tighten. She hated this kind of atmosphere and didn’t want to discuss this topic.
"Fine, then thank you for your trouble."
Jiang Zhixun’s eyes reddened slightly. "Shen Qingqing, stop toying with me."
"I’m not."
"You are."
She made him think of Zhou Hansheng, of her being with someone else, possibly even marrying someone else!
When his emotions spiraled out of control, she would brush it off like it was nothing.
Jiang Zhixun’s breaths turned uneven. "Shen Qingqing, stop bullying me."
Shen Qingqing felt a chill run down her scalp under his intense gaze.
She knew she hadn’t done anything wrong, but she still felt a strange lack of confidence.
To ease her discomfort, Shen Qingqing quickly found something to occupy Jiang Zhixun with.
After all, when he was working, he was still relatively normal...
She awkwardly said, "I’ll move in today. Is that okay?"
For the first time, Jiang Zhixun left without waiting for her response.
He didn’t say yes.
Nor did he say no.
Shen Qingqing didn’t understand what he meant by that.
Nor did she want to try to appease Jiang Zhixun, thinking that a separation right now might actually be a good thing.
So she deliberately stayed in the dorm, planning to leave after Jiang Zhixun was gone.
But he, reaching the staircase, realized she wasn’t following him down.
The resentment and frustration in his chest swelled.
He smacked the railing hard, creating a heavy thudding sound.
Driven by his emotions, Jiang Zhixun lost all calmness, reason, and gentlemanly restraint, striding back in large steps.
Before Shen Qingqing could react, he bent down, scooped her up in one arm, and slung her over his shoulder.
"Shen Qingqing, you’re being naughty."
