Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Letting Go

Bian Yue’s expression was calm, "Li Sihe, it’s raining outside, and my husband is waiting for me to come home."

Li Sihe, weak, felt dizzy in bouts, yet he stubbornly held onto Bian Yue’s hand, refusing to let go.

His voice was low and suppressed, each word deliberate, "Don’t leave tonight. Stay and talk to me, will you?"

Bian Yue thought, human hearts are truly complex.

"Sitting here today, I actually wanted to ask if you felt you were not at fault. This is very important to the Bian Yue of the past. Now I have my answer, so there’s no need for me to stay."

Li Sihe was taken aback, suddenly raising his eyes to look at Bian Yue.

His throat felt dry, and his voice was hoarse, "Yueyue... I know I was wrong. I betrayed you, and you blame me."

"I don’t blame you anymore because this is the past that I’ve let go of. But Li Sihe, I still need to tell you, you were wrong not just about this."

Bian Yue looked at her wrist clutched tightly by Li Sihe, each word distinct and calm, yet cold as a blade, "Your mistake was that you shouldn’t have kept everything from me. We lived together day and night for 7 years, and during all this long time, I, from your side, didn’t even deserve to hear a single truth. You’d rather conceal the truth and leave me in pain."

"Yueyue... How could I tell you that I’m terminally ill, that I am going to die? What would that change? It would only cause you more pain!"

Li Sihe frowned, his elegant face turning pale, his raspy voice dropping low, "Yueyue, I couldn’t do that. That would only trap you by my side, unable to breathe."

Bian Yue thought, she and Li Sihe probably never truly knew each other.

They met at the nadir of her life, and parted at the dilemma of his love and power.

They once advanced hand in hand, yet never opened their hearts to each other.

He didn’t know how firm she had been, not so fragile as to withstand no blows, just a corydalis that could only be protected under his wings.

And she didn’t know how calm and rational he was, selfish to the core.

"Yes, you’re right, Li Sihe, everything you’ve said is right."

Bian Yue looked at him calmly, "So now, what are you dissatisfied with? Li Sihe, everything has developed just as you wanted, you got what you wanted, and now, I don’t love you anymore. Why are you still keeping me here?"

Li Sihe felt a chill in his body, and in an instant, he understood that Bian Yue’s visit wasn’t out of soft-heartedness.

"Are you settling things with me?"

She was only settling things with herself.

Li Sihe knew the answer, but he still asked.

Bian Yue remained calm, "Yes, I just wanted to know today, why those seven years ultimately led to such an outcome. Now, I have no doubts and have fully let go. Just as you thought, Li Sihe, I have moved on."

Li Sihe thought, Bian Yue was indeed the moon he had raised.

She was as resolute and heartless as him.

Li Sihe’s grip tightened.

Not until Bian Yue winced in pain did he suddenly let go, closing his eyes tightly, his voice hoarse, "It’s late. Go back. Tonight, let’s pretend you didn’t come."

"What’s the point in deceiving yourself and others?"

Bian Yue looked down at Li Sihe’s pale expression and said softly, "Li Sihe, the past is the past. Just like how your aunt and uncle hope I would visit you frequently, but I know, even if I do, it will not change anything in our relationship. I am already with Shen Jinci."

Li Sihe felt heat in his eyes; he chuckled lightly, concealing his emotions, "Bian Yue, are you saying these things to provoke me?"

"Just want you to be clear-headed and not be trapped in your obsessions anymore. Li Sihe, I will also think of solutions with your aunt and uncle to find a cure for you. I hope that after tonight, we can both look forward."

Not just closure, but also farewell.

Li Sihe thought, an eye for an eye, indeed just like that.

Bian Yue stepped out of the ward as the rain fell gently.

She pressed the elevator button, and not long after, the indicator digits danced; the elevator reached the floor and slowly opened its doors.

The moment the doors opened, Bian Yue was met with the anxious face of Su Youxue inside.

Su Youxue had already heard Bian Yue’s name from Zhuang Jie Ning and had searched for her photo as well—there was only one, a wedding picture with Shen Jinci, where the woman in the picture was as captivating as the one standing before her now.

So this was the Bian Yue whom Li Sihe deeply loved.

So this was the Bian Yue who had left her utterly defeated.

Su Youxue stared blankly at Bian Yue, her emotions hard to calm, her hand clutching the thermos tightened.

Her gaze fixed on Bian Yue, hand clenched into a fist, barely keeping her expression under control.

However, such a prolonged stare was undeniably peculiar.

Bian Yue frowned at her, asking with an inquisitive tone, "Excuse me, do you know me?"

Caught off guard, Su Youxue emerged from the elevator, standing before Bian Yue, and respectfully greeted, "Miss Bian."

"You are...?" Bian Yue was puzzled.

"I’m the one Mr. Li is fostering at Banshan Apartment..." Su Youxue smiled amiably, harmless in demeanor, "I haven’t officially debuted yet, but Mr. Li said he will provide me with good resources."

Bian Yue responded nonchalantly with a nod, her expression undisturbed, and said lightly, "I wish you a smooth debut and global fame. By the way, Li Sihe just woke up; if you go in now, you should still be able to talk to him."

Having said that, Bian Yue prepared to leave.

Su Youxue didn’t expect Bian Yue to show not even the slightest reaction and stood frozen for a moment before smiling, "Take care, Miss Bian. Rest assured, I will take good care of Mr. Li."

Bian Yue said, "You don’t have to tell me these things."

Bian Yue entered the elevator and pressed the close door button.

Meanwhile, Su Youxue stood there, staring intently at Bian Yue’s figure until the elevator doors completely closed, obliterating the figure inside.

Su Youxue knew that she would never be able to defeat Bian Yue in this lifetime.

How could she win against someone whose heart was not with Li Sihe?

It was downright impossible...

When Bian Yue walked out of the hospital entrance, she saw Shen Jinci’s car parked not far away.

The man sat inside and, upon seeing her, the usually indifferent look in his eyes softened with a hint of a smile.

But the distance made it seem more like an illusion.

The rain was not heavy but was dense enough to soak a person.

Bian Yue descended the few steps before the hospital’s main entrance, stepping into the rain, walking towards Shen Jinci.

The man’s expression was gentle as he watched her approach but showed no sign of getting out of the car.

The night was deep, and the rain falling upon her was slightly chilly.

Bian Yue walked briskly, her movements in the murky night rain betraying her urgency.

She opened the passenger door and got into the car under Shen Jinci’s profound gaze.

The car was warmed up nicely, and the moment the door closed, Shen Jinci leaned over toward Bian Yue, wiping her drenched cheeks with a handkerchief unhurriedly, and asked softly, "Cold?"

Bian Yue replied she wasn’t cold.

With what seemed to be a light sigh, the man’s voice conveyed warmth as he said, "Good girl."
