Chapter 34: Chapter 34: A Fight to the Death

"Are you sick?" Shi An’an looked at Bian Yue in astonishment, unable to believe what she had just heard. "You want to terminate the ’Shengshi Yan’ project?"

Bian Yue appeared indifferent, sneering coldly, "I’m someone who can’t stand others threatening me. Since I can’t move you, then I’ll just scrap the project."

"You don’t need to scare me here. You think I don’t know that the Li Family has locked your money in Swiss Bank, and they’ve halted all your bank cards."

Shi An’an finally found some confidence and said, "Bian Yue, where would you get the money!"

Bian Yue found Shi An’an’s jumping-around posture quite amusing.

Her voice cold as ice, she said, "Since we’ve already fallen out, why should I care about the feelings of the Li Family? After all, this money is mine, whether I use it or not is simply up to me. Worst comes to worst, we both go down – I’m not afraid."

Shi An’an’s legs went weak and she sat back down.

This was why she so detested Bian Yue; she couldn’t help but hate her.

She is just too damn lucky, and excessively arrogant.

"Bian Yue! I hate this arrogant demeanor of yours most! Acting as if everyone else is dirt except for you! But the Li Family won’t care about you anymore! Once you left the Li Family, ’Shengshi Yan’ has received investment from Feng Cheng, and now Feng Cheng is the leading investor!"

Shi An’an’s eyes refused to show defeat, as she stared at Bian Yue and coldly sneered, "Now, in this project, my voice is louder than yours! Bian Yue, I’m no longer the little star waiting for you to hand out resources. What I want, I don’t need your pity!"

She is dwelling on the past, when as an 18th-tier little star, Shi An’an would dream of a pie dropping from the sky, ready to risk life and limb for a single opportunity.

But now, having teamed up with Li Sihe, Shi An’an is hot and sought after, no longer wanting to face the embarrassing hardships of the past, especially those hardships associated with Bian Yue.

Shi An’an clenched her fists, lifting her face to glare angrily at Bian Yue and coldly chuckled, dismissing her confidently: "Bian Yue, I’m no worse than you."

Bian Yue silently scrutinized her, seeing Shi An’an’s deep-seated hatred that was difficult to dissolve. She couldn’t be bothered to argue with a madman and left promptly.

Shi An’an had initially prepared a long speech to counterattack, but with Bian Yue’s sudden departure, all her words choked in her throat, unspoken.

Her face turned red with frustration until Bian Yue had long disappeared, then angrily muttered, "Show all what you can do! Bian Yue, I’m not afraid of you!"

Shi An’an was so bold only because all of this was instructed by Li Tingmo.

Li Tingmo wanted everything to go wrong for Bian Yue, letting her know the confrontational stance between the Shen and Li Families. If he wishes for Bian Yue to be uncomfortable, even with Shen Jinci’s protection, her days wouldn’t be easy.

Shi An’an knew well enough that Li Tingmo was using her as a weapon. But as long as it could severely hurt Bian Yue, Shi An’an didn’t mind being used.

She sat silently alone, thinking about Bian Yue leaving without saying a word, feeling herself gaining the upper hand, and then her thoughts drifted to mirth and she laughed uncontrollably.

On the other side, Bian Yue went to see Yang Shan at the hotel.

The woman sat on the bed, changed into pajamas, with a bare face.

Her gaze at Bian Yue carried surprise, and she uneasily said, "Miss Bian, thank you for today’s events."

"This is my crew, and I cannot ignore the unjust treatment of an actor," Bian Yue paused briefly, softly continuing, "Tell me, how did you and Shi An’an become enemies?"

Yang Shan didn’t prevaricate and detailed the whole story, sincerely sighing, "It’s been so long, I don’t know why Shi An’an suddenly started to dredge up old conflicts, using such means to make me uncomfortable."

Bian Yue listened, without immediately responding.

Indeed, Shi An’an had reasons to detest Yang Shan, but her arrogance clearly stemmed from using Yang Shan’s troublemaking on the set, pointing ultimately towards herself.

Bian Yue pondered briefly, her expression becoming ever more indifferent.

"She’s not trying to embarrass you," Bian Yue said, "She’s trying to embarrass me."

Xiangjiang, still damp with heavy rain at night, Bian Yue stood on the balcony watching the rain outside the window, and made a call to Li Sihe.

Li Sihe had not fully recovered in recent days. Bian Yue’s wedding had made him severely ill, and many of Feng Cheng’s affairs were being managed by subordinate Bai Xu, without his intervention.

Bian Yue’s warm call took Li Sihe by surprise.

He answered, his voice uncertain, "Bian Yue?"

"Li Sihe, I’ll get straight to the point: Shi An’an is bullying her colleagues on the set, and she is your lover after all. Please control her and don’t let it affect the progress of the production. Also, I’m considering withdrawing my investment. If I make up my mind, I’ll transfer a 700 million yuan penalty fee from the Swiss Bank account."

Her words were icy, each word indifferent and pragmatic, showing a seasoned demeanor in business dealings.

Li Sihe’s brow twitched, a headache’s dizzying sensation not yet subsided, his slender fingers lightly pressing at his temple, his voice hoarse, "Bian Yue, I’ve been resting these past few days, I don’t know anything, what exactly happened?"

Bian Yue lowered her eyes, her voice carrying a light threat: "I’ve already said what needs to be said. For the project ’Shengshi Yan’, Feng Cheng is now the primary investor, and hence, holds the power of final say. Any incidents on the set shouldn’t be ignored, as it affects other investors’ interests."

A good strategy of advancing by retreating, now entirely directed at oneself.

Li Sihe knew Bian Yue well, having been close for over six years.

Thus, Li Sihe pulled a faint smile on his lips, calmly saying, "Bian Yue, do you want the Li Family to use Swiss Bank’s money to fill your shortfall, or do you want me to recognize Shi An’an’s despicable actions and deal with her?"

The rain intensified. Bian Yue reached out her hand, testing the temperature of the rainwater.

She said, "Li Sihe, do you think I am a good person?"

Silence on the other end.

Bian Yue coldly chuckled, speaking softly, "I’m no saint. Shi An’an has repeatedly crossed my boundaries; what makes you think I would swallow the bitter pill and let her go unscathed? Li Sihe, even if it destroys both of us, I won’t let her get away with it."

Li Sihe heard the dial tone on the phone.

Bian Yue was notifying him: either she and the Li Family go head-to-head, pulling in the Swiss Bank money to entangle all parties’ interests, making it tough for everyone; or, he should obediently listen and withdraw Li Tingmo’s protective umbrella from above Shi An’an’s head, protecting the ’interests of other investors’.

The 700 million yuan penalty fee, Bian Yue would pay, albeit in the last way the Li Family would imagine.

Li Sihe heard it clearly, coughing softly under his clenched fist, his face showing a sickly flush.

The butler stood by, watching as the man slowly turned around, his face a mask of kindness but voice cold, he said, "Notify Shi An’an, I want to see her."

The butler, alarmed, tentatively whispered, "Young Master, has the miss... met with trouble?"

Li Sihe clenched the phone in his hand, his peach-blossom eyes downturned masking his emotions, an out-of-place cold smile emerging, his voice frighteningly gentle: "Yes, prepared to burn our bridges."
